Incredible trip in many ways. Very safe traveling with knowledgeable guides. David Mutiso, Issa Kegode (cook), and Kago David (driver) took great care of us. They're professional at what they do, and they're awesome guys. I definitely recommend this way of travel, and it was my first time taking a guided tour. Hotel in Nairobi isn't a great value, but everything else is.

My review will not give justice to the amazing job done by George at Perfect Africa Safari. From the time we contacted George he has made this experience nothing less than perfect. George at Perfect Africa Safaris was not just a tour guide he was a host, travel agent and has become a life long friend. He first connected us with previous visitors who went on the Safari to give us an idea and it truly made the difference. Due to COVID our flights were changed and he was very flexible to provide the best experience possible. He also stayed in touched leading up to our flights to Kenya. He scheduled all of our accommodations while in Africa as well as arranged our pick ups and drop offs to the airport. From the time we landed in Kenya George made us feel at home. George was very prompt and extremely knowledgeable. He gave us an amazing experience while educating us on the culture, the people and way of life. He said ask any question and he always had an answer. On the Safari tours we were able to see all of the Big 5 some animals were so close that at arms length it felt as though we could pet them. (not allowed to pet them because they are wild) One of the greatest highlights was visiting the Maasai Village and learning first hand from the villagers about the culture. I can write paragraphs about this life changing trip but I’ll some it up with book with George at Perfect African Safari this has been one of the best experiences of my life so far .

George was extremely helpful and responsive after we booked the tour. Evans was a fantastic guide throughout the drives!
Travel Masai Mara National Reserve your way
Lions, cheetahs, elephants, zebras, and hippos wander around their natural habitat, and wildebeest make their way across the land for their annual migration. The famous Masai Mara National Reserve is a prime destination for a real safari adventure experience.
See all Safari toursOur flagship Masai Mara adventure runs for 15 days and takes you deep into Uganda's Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for up-close gorilla encounters. You'll follow expert trackers through dense vegetation to observe these remarkable primates in their natural setting. For something different, we've got tours that blend wildlife with genuine cultural experiences at Tepesua Village - here you can train alongside Maasai warriors and get involved with local community initiatives. Photography enthusiasts often choose our specialized 4-day safaris. These focus on prime big cat viewing times at dawn and dusk, plus you can join walking safaris with Maasai guides who share generations of knowledge about the land and its wildlife. Our travelers tell us they love the mix of camping and lodge accommodation - there's something special about falling asleep to authentic African bush sounds. Many tours include boat trips along the Kazinga Channel where you'll spot hippos lounging in the water and loads of birdlife. For a completely different perspective, you can add an optional hot air balloon ride at sunrise; our customers say watching the wildlife movements from above gives them a whole new appreciation of the Mara's scale and patterns.

"The Gorilla Experience was amazing, but the overall trip was quite poorly planned. It resulted in us travelling on the bus for8-10 hours a day, often arriving at the camp site only an hour before it was dark. If I had known that this was going to be the case, I would have just flown to Uganda and gone straight to the Gorilla Park! Also our guide was not very good- very little information was given so I felt quite disconnected from the countries.

"Plus: many animals encountered (4 of the "big five") and quite close, as they can be approached easily in the park. It was great! Minus: no airport pick-up but in the city center, with a cab to pay extra ($60 return). Park fees also quite high ($200/person). Accommodation a little below our expectations and description (hot and cold water problems).

Discover Masai Mara National Reserve tours for every budget
The 3-day budget tours hit the sweet spot for many safari-seekers - you get proper game viewing without breaking the bank. The tented camps are clean and practical with hot showers and reliable power, and you'll head out twice daily to track wildlife. Our groups regularly spot the Big Five, particularly near the western escarpment where animals gather in good numbers. You'll have picnic lunches by the Mara River watching hippos and crocs doing their thing. Most tours swing by Maasai villages though some keep it optional. What makes these tours work so well is how focused they are - you're not spread thin across too many places.
Our luxury safaris really dial up the comfort and special experiences. You'll stay at high-end spots like Saruni Mara and Gorilla Heights where private balconies give you front-row seats to the wilderness. The guides are top-notch and know exactly where to find those harder-to-spot leopards and black rhinos. The extras make these tours special - evening chats with gorilla experts, dinners under African skies and dawn balloon rides over the plains. Our guests love cooling off in infinity pools that overlook active waterholes and sipping sundowners from their private viewing decks.

Three-day Masai Mara safaris from Nairobi work well for quick wildlife trips, following the Great Rift Valley route down to the reserve. You'll do morning and afternoon game drives when animals are most active - our travelers really like this schedule. The camps are solid picks like Miti Mingi or Rhino Camp with proper beds, hot showers and power in the tents. Between game drives spotting lions, elephants and other Big Five animals, you'll visit Maasai villages to learn their ways of life. Many guests tell us they love having picnic lunches by the Mara River watching hippos and crocs in their natural habitat. If you want to see the savannah from above, the optional balloon ride at dawn runs about $380 - it's particularly good during the migration season.

Demographics
For travelers heading out solo, our longer tours running 11-15 days let you really explore beyond just Masai Mara, taking in places like Bwindi Impenetrable Park and Queen Elizabeth National Park. You'll find yourself tracking chimps through Kalinzu Forest, watching hippos in the Kazinga Channel and swapping stories with new friends around the evening campfire. The groups stay small at 8-16 people, so you quickly get to know everyone, and we include cooking classes in local villages which are great for mixing with both locals and fellow travelers. No single supplement fees here - you get your own tent or room without paying extra. Our solo travelers tell us they love how the mix of wildlife watching and village visits creates natural moments to connect with others in the group.
Our 3-day Masai Mara family safaris come with spacious tented camps that give parents and kids their own comfortable space to relax. The guides are really good with children - they explain wildlife facts in fun ways and keep everyone interested during game drives. You'll head out early when animals are most active, then mix things up with afternoon visits to Maasai villages where the kids can learn traditional dances and try making local crafts. Families love our riverside picnic spots where you can watch hippos and crocodiles while having lunch, and we time the evening drives so everyone's back at camp before darkness falls. The whole schedule works around normal meal times and rest periods which keeps everyone happy.

- Spring 2025
Spring brings excellent value with tours that blend wildlife and cultural experiences nicely. The 4-day itineraries make good use of those clear mornings - you'll explore in custom 4x4s and spend time in authentic Maasai villages connecting with local communities. Some guests opt for touches of luxury at places like Saruni Mara, where giraffes wander past private balconies. Others prefer the intimacy of smaller camps, with dinners under the stars and early game drives to catch big cats on the hunt. The spring light creates perfect conditions for photography, especially around the hippo pools and river crossings.

Longer tours take in Lake Nakuru's rhinos, Queen Elizabeth National Park's wildlife and also cultural visits to places like Tepesua Village. - Fall / Autumn 2025
Fall tours balance wildlife viewing with cultural immersion, offering various accommodation styles and trip lengths. Multi-country options combine Masai Mara's big cats with Uganda's gorillas and also Rwanda's cultural sites. The shorter 3-4 day tours focus on quality game viewing with guides who know just where to find those elusive leopards and black rhinos. The smaller group sizes this season are perfect, whether you're at luxury lodges with infinity pools overlooking waterholes or in well-appointed tented camps that blend comfort with authentic safari atmosphere. Many tours include genuine exchanges with Maasai communities and visits to local conservation projects. Perfect Africa Safari is currently the top choice for Masai Mara tours according to our travelers, with guide George consistently going above and beyond to personalize each trip. His local knowledge helps spot the Big 5, and he takes time to explain wildlife behavior, tracking techniques and also ecosystem dynamics. The company includes meaningful visits to Maasai villages where guests can learn about traditions, daily life and cultural practices without feeling rushed or touristy. For travelers on a tighter schedule or budget, the 3 Days, 2 Nights group safari from Nairobi offers a solid introduction to the Mara. Guide Sammy works hard to create good experiences despite the more basic setup. The accommodations and meals vary in quality, but the wildlife viewing opportunities remain strong. Our travelers note that while this shorter option doesn't allow for deeper cultural immersion or extended game drives, it still provides real safari experiences with skilled spotting of animals in their natural habitat. The key difference comes down to the level of personalization and time available. Perfect Africa Safari builds in flexibility to linger at special sightings, adjust schedules based on wildlife patterns and also explore cultural aspects in depth. The shorter group option follows a more fixed timeline but still delivers core safari elements at a lower price point.

Winter in the Masai Mara offers a more intimate safari experience when the plains are less crowded. The 3-day tours hit all the right spots - heading out at dawn when predators are most active, full days exploring the western escarpment and also relaxed picnic lunches by the Mara River where hippos and crocodiles gather. You can choose between comfortable lodges like Keekorok or well-equipped tented camps that put you right in the action. The game drives deliver consistently, with our guides regularly tracking down lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo and also rhinos.
