What people love about Safari Tours in Tsavo National Park
- 3 Days Tsavo East & Saltlick
An amazing experience! We saw a lot of animals, including lions, hyenas, giraffes, elephants and zebras, despite it being the middle of the off-season. The lodges were beautiful and made me wish to stay longer. Bryan, the organizer, was very friendly and helpful in answering questions and organizing everything and the tourguide Simon was amazing. Would book from this organisation again anytime.
- 6 Days Kenya allround Safari - Mombasa
Bought our from US. Tour rader was easy to reach. Tourader staff were responsive in timely manner with excellent customer service. Guide was knowledgeable. Loved the tour overralI. wish we would have spent extra night at Aruba. That would have given us little to rest before the long journey to Tsavo west. Highly recommend tour rader and will definitely use this company for our future travel needs.
What our customers ask about Safari Tours & Trips in Tsavo National Park
What types of accommodation options are available in Tsavo National Park?
Tsavo National Park provides accommodations that range from basic to high-end. The well-known Voi Wildlife Lodge and Saltlick Safari Lodge give guests direct views of active waterholes right from their rooms. At Kilaguni Serena Lodge visitors can access an underground viewing area with windows at ground level for close-up wildlife watching. For families Ashnil Aruba Lodge has spacious rooms with views of Aruba Dam. As one TourRadar traveler mentioned: "Saltlick Lodge was incredibly amazing - the experience with the animals there was out of this world!"
How does the landscape and ecosystem differ between Tsavo East and West?
Tsavo East's terrain consists of wide open plains dotted with acacia trees and the life-giving Galana River. Tsavo West in contrast presents a more rugged landscape with volcanic formations and the clear waters of Mzima Springs. These distinct environments create homes for different wildlife groups. A TourRadar traveler shared: "The landscape in Tsavo East is more open for spotting animals while Tsavo West offers stunning volcanic scenery and amazing springs."
How many days should I plan for a comprehensive Tsavo safari experience?
Most visitors need 3-4 days at minimum to see Tsavo properly though 5-6 days allows for a more relaxed exploration of both parks. The vast 22,000 square kilometer area includes unique features from the Yatta Plateau to Mzima Springs. Extra days let visitors explore special sites like the Shetani Lava Flow and Chyulu Hills without rushing. One TourRadar traveler mentioned: "Our 6-day safari gave us plenty of time to explore both parks and see all the major wildlife without feeling rushed."
What's the typical daily schedule like on a Tsavo National Park safari?
Safari days in Tsavo begin early with 6:00 AM game drives to spot active predators. After returning for breakfast guests head out again mid-morning to visit highlights like Mzima Springs or the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary. The final drive starts around 4:00 PM when temperatures drop followed by evening drinks and dinner. As shared by a TourRadar traveler: "The safari drives were perfectly timed - early morning and late afternoon meant great wildlife sightings and comfortable temperatures."
What is the typical route and key highlights of a Tsavo National Park safari tour?
Most Tsavo safaris cover both East and West parks along with nearby wildlife areas. Tours often start from Mombasa stopping first at Ngutuni Sanctuary then moving to Taita Hills Sanctuary. The route typically includes Amboseli National Park known for Kilimanjaro views before reaching Tsavo West's Mzima Springs to see hippos and crocodiles. The journey ends in Tsavo East with stays at quality lodges like Ashnil Aruba or Kilaguni Serena. As one TourRadar traveler noted "The route through multiple parks gave us incredible variety in landscapes and wildlife viewing opportunities."
What's the best way to get to Tsavo National Park?
Visitors can reach Tsavo from either Nairobi or Mombasa. The drive from Nairobi to Tsavo West takes about 4 hours entering through Mtito Andei gate. From Mombasa it's roughly 3 hours to Tsavo East via Bachuma gate. Safari packages usually include transport in 4x4s equipped with roof hatches for better wildlife viewing. A TourRadar traveler mentioned: "The drive from Mombasa was comfortable in our safari vehicle and we started seeing wildlife even before reaching the main gate."
