My partner and I had an amazing time during Kilimanjaro Climb using the Marangu route with Word Adventure Tour. We were referred to this amazing company by our friends John and Jan who did Kilimanjaro with them last year and we are happy we heeded their advice. The booking process was flawless, all our emails and queries were promptly answered. We did our payment securely in 2 transfers. We continued conversing with World Adventure Tour up to the moment when we arrived in Tanzania and found a representative waiting for us. He helped with our luggage and transferred us to Springlands Hotel in Moshi town. Later in the afternoon we met with Amos the chief guide and his able assistant Jack. They did a detailed briefing of the climb and also inspected our climbing gear. We were lucky that we were the only climbers in our group as such enjoying more privacy and the full attention of the climbing crew. The actual climb was very well organized and went on very smoothly. The climb started at the Marangu gate following the trail into the deep mountain forest full of birds and different monkey species followed by heath and giant lobelias opening up to the bare rocky saddle connecting Kibo and Mawenzi which had amazing views of the summit and trails below. Amos and Jack were very knowledgeable about the mountain and excellent conversationalists. They answered all our questions explained the various points in detail. The other support crew of porters and cook also performed excellently. The food was also very good and freshly prepared with the cook serving us huge helpings. I will never forget the summit night because we set of for the summit at midnight. The climb was long and strenuous and I almost gave up but Amos never left my side encouraging me and at dawn we made to the summit. We were very impressed by the way World Adventure Tour did everything. We got first class support of professional and experienced crew, top class equipment that kept us warm and dry and wonderful company for a very reasonable price. I recommend Word Adventure Tour without any reservations

spider tours and safaris was excellent. I did the 8-day marangu route with ramoss and shedrack as guides. They were great and very attentive/response to how we were going. In addition to the guides - the porters, chef, waiter and entire crew were very friendly and incredibly impressive in their work. The food was plentiful and delicious. It is no exaggeration to say that infinite credit is due to the whole team for the fact that I made it to the top. Book with spider tours and safaris!

The Marangu Route offers some really solid Kilimanjaro climbing options, with the 8-day tours standing out as particularly effective. That extra acclimatization day at Horombo Hut (3,720m) makes a real difference - our travelers consistently tell us it was key to their summit success. The path takes you through five distinct zones, starting in dense rainforest and working your way up to proper arctic conditions at the top. What makes these tours work so well is the quality of the teams behind them - you get professional guides, experienced porters and dedicated cooks who somehow manage to prepare varied, fresh meals even at altitude. The Marangu Route has this unique advantage of hut accommodation instead of camping, with proper beds and shelter at Mandara, Horombo and also Kibo huts.

See all Active toursThe Marangu Route gives you a solid shot at reaching Africa's highest peak through 6-8 day climbs that really work. We've found adding rest days at Horombo Hut (3,720m) makes a big difference in getting people to the top. You'll pass through five different climate zones and start off in thick rainforest where colobus monkeys swing around and birds are everywhere. What's nice about this route is you get to sleep in proper mountain huts instead of tents - our customers love this extra comfort after a long day's trek. The guides check on everyone twice a day and use this great local technique called "pole pole" (slowly slowly) that's proven really effective for making it up to Uhuru Peak at 5,895m. The guides are full of interesting stories about the local Chagga people and they'll point out all sorts of plants and animals along the way. Our porter teams do an amazing job with the food - you'd be surprised what they can cook up at that height. We're talking fresh fruit, hot soups and also proper main courses to keep your energy up. Summit day kicks off around midnight, giving you 6-7 hours to reach Gilman's Point just as the sun comes up, then it's the final push to Uhuru Peak. Coming down, you'll cross the saddle between Mawenzi and also Kibo peaks before heading back to Springlands Hotel in Moshi where your certificate awaits - proof you've made it to the top of Africa.

Top operators in Marangu Route
Looking at climbing Kilimanjaro via the Marangu Route, we've had consistently positive feedback from our travelers about four main companies. Spider Tours and Safaris has built a solid reputation with their team of knowledgeable guides who keep spirits high during tough sections, plus they're known for serving proper hot meals even at high camps - which makes a real difference when you're pushing yourself at altitude. Migration Venture Africa takes time to understand what each climber needs, responding quickly to questions before the trek and adapting the pace to match different fitness levels. They work closely with local communities and maintain smaller group sizes for a more personal experience. If you're keeping an eye on costs, Steppe Dogs Adventures offers competitive rates without cutting corners on essential equipment or guide expertise. They're straightforward in their approach and have a good track record of successful summits. Almighty Kilimanjaro puts safety first with thorough health checks, oxygen monitoring and guides who know exactly when to encourage climbers and when to make tough calls about continuing. Their team carries extra supplies and they're particularly good at managing altitude-related challenges that come up during the climb. These operators all handle the technical aspects well, but each brings something different to the table. The Marangu Route itself takes 5-6 days depending on whether you add an extra acclimatization day - which most of our successful climbers recommend doing.

"Had a fantastic trip. The Kilimanjaro trek was something I won?t forget. The team of guided and porters were really very good without exception. What a great you managed to put together here! Was expertly managed for a solo traveler, I never felt alone or at risk. They taught us all the songs and were advocated of GAdventures! My only complaint was that it didn?t appear that GAdventures weren?t as enthusiastic about their team as we were. Some of the equipment they had for climbing that mountain was insufficient and embarrassing. We passed another group who were all kitted out and matching. I would have felt better ethically and for safety seeing our team in branded/suitable attire-the beanies were good for identifying the team, but it?s not enough. I would hope gay G offer T-shirt?s/boots/coats and gloves to their teams for welfare, your company brand/reputation and to ensure your team are the best and have the means to do this. Lots of us left hiking gear for the guides/porters and they seemed very grateful though they ever complain about what they don?t have. They just looked far less kitted up than the tourists and some other groups. I really hope you can invest a little more into what is a very good and deficit ram-even if it?s pool uniform that they borrow and return post trek. Loved it overall and would recommend and use myself again. I do think the 5 day route was too short and would recommend this to anyone. An extra day to acclimatise would have kept us together as a group, not as sick and given a heights success rate. Iddy got me to the top that day and I will forever be grateful for him taking the extra 3 hrs with me when everyone else was on the way down.

"The tour was perfectly organized. The contact with Joyce in the run-up to the trip was regular and she responded quickly to our questions. We were picked up from the airport and the itinerary for the next few days was explained to us in detail at the hotel. Our guides Kashi and Zunga were very attentive and told us a lot about the nature on Kilimanjaro and the history and culture of the country. The food was excellent and varied. Steven was also always concerned for our well-being and to fulfill our little extra wishes. Overall, everyone was very friendly.

The 7-day Marangu Route really gives you the time you need to reach Uhuru Peak comfortably. Our climbers consistently tell us how much that extra day at Horombo Hut (3,720m) helps them adjust to the altitude. You'll meet your guides in Moshi for gear checks before heading to Marangu Gate. The first days take you through thick rainforest to Mandara Hut at 2,700m, then across open heathland with its giant lobelias until you reach Horombo Hut at 3,720m. The week-long format lets guides work their magic on the high-altitude sections. They'll take you on short walks around Horombo to get used to the thin air before the big push to Kibo Hut at 4,700m. Our clients love how the support teams look after them - hot meals three times daily and warm washing water feel incredible at those heights. The guides keep close watch on oxygen levels and also share great mountain stories that keep everyone's spirits up. Summit day starts around midnight on day five, with guides staying right next to each person during the challenging 6-7 hour climb to Gilman's Point. You'll hit Uhuru Peak just after sunrise - perfect timing for photos at Africa's highest point. The descent is well organized with a night at Horombo Hut to break up the long walk down. Our travelers particularly like ending their journey back in Moshi's comfortable hotels, where they can take proper hot showers and also celebrate with their climbing team.
