What people love about Sicily Tours

The tour was excellent but a little more information about the town we stayed in and transportation to attractions would have been helpful. The accommodations ranged form excellent to very bad. The guide Irene was enthusiastic and keep the group together when necessary.

Travel Sicily your way
Cycling gives you a different perspective on Sicily, with routes that combine coastal rides and inland exploration. Western routes take you past olive groves up to medieval Erice and along seaside roads with views of the Egadi Islands. In the east, you'll ride through baroque towns like Noto and into Vendicari Nature Reserve, where flamingos and herons often gather. Daily rides cover 25-40 kilometers on quiet secondary roads, perfect for regular cyclists who like mixing exercise with cultural stops. Our riders particularly enjoy combining village visits with swims in hidden coves and trying local specialties in small towns along the way.
See all Bicycle toursCoach tours make it easy to see Sicily's major sites without worrying about the driving. We've found the most popular routes mix famous spots like the Valley of Temples with quieter places such as Pantalica's limestone gorge. Local guides add real value by sharing stories about Godfather filming locations and explaining what's happening up on Etna. Most trips include visits to family wineries near Syracuse and traditional food makers around Modica. Our customers often mention how they appreciate the mix of guided visits and free time to explore Taormina's Greek theater or shop in Palermo's markets.
See all Coach / Bus toursOur most requested Sicily tours blend Etna's volcanic terrain with deep cultural connections. Starting from Catania or Palermo, you'll explore ancient Greek sites at Syracuse before heading up Etna where silver birch forests line the paths near recent lava flows. The small group size lets you slip into places big tour buses can't reach. You'll taste Marsala wines in local taverns, visit fishing communities and explore baroque architecture in Ragusa. Our travelers tell us they really value having enough time to discover hidden spots in Palermo's old quarter and wander through Taormina's historic streets at their own pace.

"This tour of Sicily by Click Tours was extremely well done with a great array of activities. There were 4 couples in the group, and we all got along so well, that we went out as a group every night for dinner. My favorite activities were the Godfather tour, the town of Taormina, lunch at the winery, and the fact that all hotels were in the heart of the city. My least favorite was the trip to the top of Mount Etna, where the guide walked so fast, we never found him at the top of the mountain, and there was really not much to see. Breathing at altitude was a problem for 6/8 of us. If you go a day early, you can eat at the Taormina Four Seasons and relive the scenes from White Lotus. We had a great time and will use this company again for sure.

Best places to start your Sicily tour
Most of our Sicily tours kick off from either Palermo or Catania, with both cities splitting the starts pretty evenly. There are some tours starting from Syracuse, Rome and also Taormina, but they're not as common. Looking at our booking data, you'll want to lock in your dates about 4.5 months ahead to get exactly what you're after. Our travelers tell us that 7-10 days feels right to really get to know Sicily - enough time to visit those UNESCO sites and dig into the food culture. Having a local guide makes a real difference; they'll take you to family farms and show you architectural gems you won't find in regular tourist guides. Getting around is straightforward with both private transfers and public transport available, though many of our guests prefer letting a local guide handle the travel details so they can focus on enjoying themselves.
Discover Sicily tours for every budget
Sicily's budget-friendly tours pack in plenty without breaking the bank. The 8-day Classical Sicily route takes you from Mt Etna's volcanic slopes to Syracuse's Greek ruins and includes a stop at Modica's chocolate makers. Our 10-day option adds time in the Aeolian Islands where you can watch Stromboli erupt after dark - it's nature's own light show. Tours start from either Catania or Palermo, letting you jump straight into the bustling markets and old quarters. Our travelers tell us they love how these tours mix guided visits with free afternoons to explore places like Taormina's winding streets or find a quiet spot by Cefalù's harbor.
The luxury side of Sicily focuses on exclusive experiences and carefully chosen hotels. Our Premium Sicily program connects you with family estates where you'll join private cooking sessions among the lemon trees and step into historic cellars to taste aged Marsala wines. The Private Sicily Countryside tour places you in authentic luxury resorts in quiet corners of the island. What makes these special? It's the personal touches - cooking with local chefs when other tourists have gone home and exploring UNESCO sites without the usual crowds. You'll taste honey from small producers on Etna's slopes and get private access to baroque palaces in Ragusa that most visitors never see.

Top Sicily travel itineraries to fit your plans
Our week-long Sicily tours follow two main paths. The classic route starts in Palermo where you'll visit Monreale's Norman Cathedral before heading east through Marsala's wine regions and up to Agrigento's Valley of Temples. Our travelers tell us they love how we mix guided visits with free time, especially around Syracuse and Taormina. The northern route focuses more on Sicily's top edge and the Aeolian Islands - you'll explore Lipari's old town and take evening boats to see Stromboli doing its natural light show. Both tours include Mount Etna, though customers say the volcano visits feel more laid-back on the northern path.
Don't miss out on visiting:
Catania, Aci Trezza, Syracuse, Marzamemi, Noto, Modica, Ragusa, Piazza Armerina, Agrigento, Erice, Monreale, Palermo, Cefalu, Savoca, Taormina, Mount Etna
See all toursThe 10-day Sicily circuits give you more time to really get under the island's skin. From Palermo, you'll head west to explore Erice's medieval lanes and Marsala's historic Florio wine cellars before turning south. What makes these special is the extra time - our customers love having whole afternoons free after morning tours in baroque towns like Ragusa and Modica. You'll join cooking classes in local homes and visit small producers, from beekeepers on Etna's slopes to traditional chocolate makers in Modica. The longer stays mean you start recognizing faces at local cafes and find your own favorite spots in each town.
Don't miss out on visiting:
Palermo, Monreale, Erice, Marsala, Agrigento, Piazza Armerina, Catania, Mount Etna, Taormina, Syracuse, Noto, Pozzallo, Mdina, Valletta, Gozo
See all toursOur two-week Sicily tour takes a complete lap of the island at a comfortable pace. Starting from Palermo, you cover all the major sites but with multiple nights in key spots like Lipari and Catania. Our travelers really like how we balance guided activities with free time - there's space to take a cooking class in Syracuse, sail around the Aeolian Islands and still wander on your own. You'll visit less-crowded gems like Piazza Armerina's Roman mosaics and Europe's oldest salt flats near Marsala. The relaxed schedule means you actually absorb Sicily's culture instead of rushing through a checklist of sites.

Palermo, Erice, Marsala, Mazara del Vallo, Sciacca, Agrigento, Piazza Armerina, Ragusa, Syracuse, Catania, Taormina, Valletta, Saint Julians

Solo travel in Sicily works particularly well with our small-group format that puts cultural immersion first. The tours through Syracuse's Greek quarter and Taormina's medieval center let individual travelers connect naturally. Our solo guests often mention how much they enjoy the social aspect of cooking classes and wine tastings near Mount Etna. The Aeolian Islands tours give independent travelers good flexibility - they can relax on Lipari's beaches or join others to watch Stromboli's volcanic displays at night. There's just the right mix of scheduled activities and free time to explore places like Ortigia's market streets or find a quiet corner in Taormina's pretty squares.
Couples tend to go for tours that mix culture with romantic moments. The combination of Taormina's Greek theater views and intimate wine tastings at family vineyards proves especially popular. Many pick tours with stays in Syracuse's Ortigia district, where baroque churches and waterfront evening walks set the mood. These routes usually include Mount Etna explorations followed by lazy afternoons in seaside towns like Cefalù. Our traveling couples particularly value the intimate experiences - think private cooking sessions in Palermo and boat trips finding secluded coves around the Aeolian Islands. It's this blend of active discovery and quiet moments that makes these tours work so well.
Our smaller Sicily tours resonate perfectly with young adults seeking active discovery and cultural connections. The most successful itineraries take you up Etna's volcanic trails, followed by relaxed afternoons at family-run wineries, where volcanic-soil wines and traditional methods come together. In Syracuse, guided walks through ancient Greek neighborhoods blend with independent time to wander markets, piazzas and tucked-away corners. Travelers in their 20s and 30s particularly enjoy our Aeolian Island trips, swimming in Lipari's hidden coves before settling in to watch Stromboli light up the evening sky. The culinary experiences stand out - you'll shop morning markets with local chefs in Taormina, master authentic pasta-making techniques and explore Palermo's vibrant food scene through its neighborhood markets, side streets and also traditional vendors. Our tours balance active elements like hiking Pantalica's dramatic gorge with cultural stops at Modica's artisan chocolate workshops and also quiet moments to take in Sicily's rhythms at your own tempo.
Sicily offers several expertly designed tours that cater perfectly to senior travelers, with 7-day cultural circuits maintaining an easy pace through the highlights. The itineraries keep groups intimate at just 8 people, giving travelers space to soak in each destination without pressure. Food and wine take center stage here - our guests love starting their mornings at local markets, followed by cooking sessions in family-run trattorias and leisurely tastings at vineyards dotting Etna's slopes, where the views stretch endlessly. Walking tours through Syracuse's ancient Greek district and Taormina's winding medieval lanes move at a comfortable rhythm, and guides naturally adapt to each group's preferred speed. Most itineraries balance guided morning activities with free time to wander or relax in the afternoons. While our bilingual guides earn consistent praise for their care and deep local expertise, some travelers prefer the English-only departures for simpler communication. The tours minimize hotel changes with extended stays in each spot, weaving UNESCO heritage sites together with laid-back experiences like long lunches in coastal villages and evening drinks in historic piazzas.
Sicily's family tours hit that sweet spot between learning and fun. Take Etnaland - Europe's biggest water park with 14 slides and the continent's largest wave pool keeps kids happy between museum visits. Up in the Madonie Adventure Park, families can try tree camping, get into some archery and zoom across zip-lines. Kids really get into the cooking classes in Palermo where they make their own pasta and gnocchi from scratch. Our most successful tours mix Mount Etna walks with beach time at Mondello, plus snorkeling stops at spots like Isola Bella marine reserve. Parents tell us these combinations work because their kids stay engaged while picking up Sicily's history through hands-on activities.

Best time to visit Sicily
- Spring 2025
Spring in Sicily is when everything comes together perfectly and we've designed our tours to make the most of the mild weather. Our small food and wine tours - never more than 8 people - take you through Taormina's markets with local chefs before you learn the real secrets of pasta and arancini making. The cultural routes blend Syracuse's Greek ruins with laid-back visits to family wineries tucked into Etna's hillsides. Our guests tell us they love how these spring tours mix guided walks in Baroque towns like Noto with enough free time to wander and explore. Palermo's morning markets are especially good now - you'll spot the season's first figs and local cheeses making their appearance.

Summer needs smart planning to deal with Sicily's heat, so our most effective tours start early and stick close to the coast when possible. One of our best routes combines cooling off at Mondello beach with visits to Cefalù's Norman cathedral and Taormina's Greek theater. The Aeolian Island multi-day trips are a big hit - our groups swim at Lipari's white beaches and watch the sun go down over Stromboli. Our travelers really appreciate having free afternoons to relax by the hotel pool between activities. Food tours move to the cooler evenings - perfect timing for trying Palermo's street food markets and enjoying gelato in Syracuse's Ortigia neighborhood.

Sicily Activities has built a solid reputation for their deep cultural immersion tours - our travelers consistently mention how their guides share rich local knowledge while keeping the logistics smooth. The food and wine experiences are genuinely local, not touristy, which makes a real difference. G Adventures does well with their small group approach in Sicily. Their southern route explores less-visited corners while the northern itinerary takes you through the volcanic landscapes and island hopping. What works particularly well is how they balance structured activities with free time, so you're not locked into a rigid schedule. Soleto Travel covers the main Sicily highlights and gets the job done, but we've had mixed feedback from TourRadar customers about where they stay - some accommodations are excellent while others need improvement. The group sizes also tend to vary more than advertised, which can affect the overall experience and pace of the tour. If you're choosing between these options and want something really focused on Sicilian culture, Sicily Activities is your best bet. For a mix of guided experiences and independent exploration with a reliable group size, G Adventures delivers consistently good results. Soleto works if you want to see the major sites, just be prepared for some variation in the details.

Winter tours in Sicily give you something special, as our travelers regularly tell us. Small groups head out from Taormina for food and wine discoveries, joining local chefs to explore morning markets before learning the art of pasta and arancini making. The winter calendar features intimate tastings at family wineries on Etna's slopes, where volcanic soils shape the character of native grape varieties. Cultural routes combine Syracuse's Greek ruins with relaxed visits to baroque towns like Noto and leave your afternoons open to explore. Mount Etna shows a different side in winter - our guided walks at 1,900 meters take you through birch forests and past side craters with fewer tourists than summer brings. Culture-focused travelers often choose tours from Palermo, exploring lively morning markets, finding architectural treasures and joining cooking sessions in local homes. The 7-10 day trips work particularly well, giving proper time to take in places like the Valley of Temples, baroque Ragusa and also Modica's chocolate workshops. Don't miss watching Stromboli's natural evening fireworks from the Aeolian Islands - it's an activity our winter visitors consistently rate as a top experience.
