- JNJneil· November 9th, 2024Your tour was well organized but first hotel in Taormina was disappointing and smoking allowed a terraces so we had to keep door closed plus hotel very worn. The guides were good but Giovanni who we had more than once, was very informative but too political. We would have liked a few more pre booked activities. Day of transfer from Ortigia to Palermo was really too much driving especially on dark winding roads. We thought Valerio was best guide. My cooking class was wonderful.Show more

The communication was disorganized with several people using WhatsApp which our group was never told about.This led to several time changes that were not communicated. The itinerary was good although the drive from Syracuse to Palermo made for a very long day. The hotel in Taormina was very dated and not as good as the next two in Syracuse and Palermo. Local guides were very good. There was no previous notice that we would have to pay for admission tickets in cash to the theater and for Mt. Etna. This was a problem as we could have easily paid for our own tickets by credit card at the theater. The 78 euro cost pp would have been a problem if we had done it, weather prevented us from going to the top. Show moreTrip date: October 2024- SWSherry· October 20th, 2024Overall a very good tour, great food, enjoyable local tours, and good to great hotels in central locations. As well, the program was nicely paced and interesting for all age groups. For us, the tour was made special by the wonderful people that were part of our group of 8 - 4 very comparable couples who had fun and looked out for each other. The only thing about this tour that is not made clear in the write ups is that it the tour is essentially guided by a virtual tour guide(s) who we never met in person. We only communicated with them thru Snapchat, usually at the end of the day explaining the next days event and the name of the local guide. All the local guides were great, but gone after their local event. We were required to find meeting locations in some cases on our own, which is fine if you can use technology to guide you. Overall, the virtual tour guide process worked ok, but if something goes wrong, you have nobody at your location to help you. I sprained my ankle and was left to find a pharmacie or medical help on my own, which I did. No real assistance was offered thru the tour operator. If someone had a more serious health issue, I think this model would not be great. In the tour write up, the model should be explained clearly. We went on the small group tour and were very well matched with the other 6 people on our tour. We had so much fun! My only negative comment would be a more modern hotel in Taormina is needed. - JVJohn· September 28th, 2024Guides and drivers were excellent. Great communication and knowledgeable contributions. The guides in particular were extremely patient by continually waiting for some participants to catch up whilst on the various walking tours and for the constant toilet stops needed by others in my group. Also remarkably patient when some participants would wander off to take fotos or whatever whilst the guide was still explaining something. I had assumed we would have the same guide/driver for the whole tour but the only draw back of having different ones each day was there was occasionally some repetition in commentary. Hotels were all also excellent. Communication by What’s App the night before regarding the next day’s activities was most useful. All meals and wine experiences were similarly excellent in both quantity and quality. Whilst having some free time daily was welcome I thought that Days 5 and 7 were too light on. On Day 5 in Syracuse would have liked for example to also have a tour to the archeological site. On Day 7 would have liked for example also a tour to the Cathedral of Montreal. Given the cost of the overall tour think these are reasonable suggestions. Luckily our group numbered 7 rather than 8 as with a full 8 someone would have had to sit in the middle of the front seat. I did sit there for a short time when we gave a guide a lift back to the starting point of a walk. It was most uncomfortable and cramped. Particularly on the lengthy travel Day 6 I did feel the vehicle was also too cramped.Show moreTrip date: September 2024

My husband is diabetic and we do not eat fish - cooked or raw. We had to fight to take the Godfather tour that was on our paid itinerary and was cheated out of the Mt. Etna tour. My husband got sick from the fish and wound up in ER in Palermo for 12 hours!
