- Climb Kilimanjaro - Lemosho Route 7 Day CLIMB **Qualified Mountain Guides & Sustainability Certification**
World Adventure Tours is an amazing company that hosted my friends to an unforgettable Kilmanjaro hiking adventure. Our choice was guided by the great reviews we found about them on this platform and affirmed by our friends who had gone with them in February. The trip was actually better that detailed in the itinerary. No descriptions, photos or video can do justice to the actual feeling of going up the mountain together with friends supported by what I consider to be the best climbing crew. We had good equipment and well fed all the time. The crew made sure we were safe at all times, regularly checking our oxygen levels, BP and other vitals. The five of us all made it to the summit which is a great achievement. I wld not change anything about this trip given another opportunity.

- Climb Kilimanjaro - Machame Route 7 Day CLIMB **Qualified Mountain Guides & Sustainability Certification **
My brother and I climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro with World Adventure Tours. We chose the 7 day Machame route. We were very impressed with the service that the company provided. We worked with Peter, head of reservations at the company. I was amazed by the dedication to customer service that the company had. The prices were very affordable and we couldn’t’ have asked for better rates. The experience that we received was worth every dollar we paid and much more. We had the most incredible time climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro. Our guides Mushi and Japheth were amazing. They were very friendly and easy to talk to. They were also very helpful and encouraging. By the end of the 7 days we spend together on Kilimanjaro, we had become close friends with them. We would not have made it to the peak without their determination, hard work, dedication, and encouragement. Mushi and Japheth talked to us about many things in Tanzania including the politics, culture, and people. We learnt a lot about the history of Tanzania from them. They also taught us a bit of Swahili and introduced us to Swahili music which I loved. The cook treated us to delicious dishes and taught us how to make one of the dishes he cooked for us. The porters happily carried our equipment and supplies. They always arrived early at the next camp to set up. I was so grateful for everything they did. When we arrived at camp, we found that they had already pitched the tents and the chef had started cooking. We had an amazing time climbing with the crew that World Adventure Tours provided. Our trek on Kilimanjaro is an unforgettable experience for my brother and I.

The Marangu Route really delivers something special on Kilimanjaro, and our climbers often tell us how the sunrise from Uhuru Peak became a defining moment in their lives. The local guides make a huge difference here - they know so much about the mountain's ecology and share great stories about the local Chagga culture as you trek. What surprises many of our travelers is just how good the food is up there at altitude, and they're always impressed by the incredible work the porter teams put in to make it all happen. You'll move through completely different worlds as you climb; starting in thick rainforest and working your way up through various zones until you're in arctic conditions at the top. Each section gives you different chances to spot wildlife and capture some really unique photos.
See all Marangu Route toursThe Machame Route takes you through five distinct climate zones on Kilimanjaro, giving you something completely different to experience each day. You'll start in lush rainforest, then work your way up through heath, moorland and alpine desert before reaching the arctic conditions at the summit. Our travelers often tell us how much they love watching the landscape transform - from misty morning forests to the wide-open Shira Plateau. When you finally reach Uhuru Peak, you're rewarded with incredible sunrise views stretching across Africa. The route's changing terrain actually helps your body adjust to the altitude, and our local guides and porters really make the difference here - they know exactly when to encourage you and how to handle the challenges that come with climbing at high altitude.
See all Machame Route toursThe Lemosho Route carves one of the most rewarding paths up Kilimanjaro, letting your body adjust naturally to the altitude as you go. Our clients love how the trail unfolds - starting in thick rainforest, opening up across the wide Shira Plateau and taking on the exciting scramble up Barranco Wall, where the southern face of Kili spreads out below you. The real magic happens at Uhuru Peak at 5,895m; our travelers often tell us watching dawn break over Africa from the continent's highest point left them speechless. The route's guides have become local legends among our climbing groups, reading the mountain's patterns and setting exactly the right pace for summit success. We see 90-95% of our groups make it to the top on our 8-day trips, with very few altitude issues thanks to the traditional "pole pole" (slowly slowly) approach our guides swear by.

Kilimanjaro offers three main trekking paths, each with its own character. The 7-day Machame Route - locals call it the Whisky Route - gives you that crucial extra day for altitude adjustment, and our travelers tell us this really boosts their chances of reaching the top. First-time trekkers often go for the 8-day Marangu Route since it's the only one with proper hut stays instead of tents. If you're after more solitude, the 10-day Lemosho Route comes in from the western side and includes a night sleeping in the crater - it's a real highlight for our more adventurous clients. Our regular clients keep mentioning guides like Mushi, Japheth and Frank who know exactly when to push and when to ease off on the pace. The support teams make these treks special too - you've got chefs cooking hot meals at extreme altitudes and porters who lift everyone's spirits with spontaneous singing during tough stretches. As you climb, you'll pass through distinct zones - starting in lush rainforest, moving through moorland and finally reaching the bare rocky summit slopes.
See all Hiking & Trekking toursYou can still get a genuine feel for Kilimanjaro even if you're tight on time or watching your budget. Many visitors combine a day hike up to Mandara Hut at 2,700 meters with a wildlife drive through Tarangire National Park. The forest trek takes 6-7 hours and gives you a real taste of what the full climb feels like, plus you'll spot monkeys and forest birds along the way. The Kikuletwa Hot Springs have become a favorite post-hike stop - it's this lovely natural pool with fig trees all around and you can see Kilimanjaro on clear days. Our travelers tell us it's the ideal spot to rest tired legs while keeping the mountain in view. We actually suggest adding the springs to any itinerary in the area now, whether you're doing the big climb or just exploring the region.
See all Active toursExplore a wide diversity of bicycle tours through Mount Kilimanjaro. We have 33 adventures that vary from 3 days to 10 days. With the greatest number of departures in January, this is also the most popular time of the year.
See all Bicycle toursThe 8-day Lemosho route to Kilimanjaro gives you what our climbers consider the fullest mountain experience possible. You'll move from thick rainforest zones up to the wide-open Shira Plateau, then tackle the interesting challenge of the Barranco Wall. The route's well-planned camping spots help your body adjust properly to the altitude changes, which is why our groups tend to do really well reaching the summit. If you're looking for something a bit more direct but equally scenic, the 7-day Machame route (locals call it the Whisky Route) takes you up efficiently while still giving your body time to adapt at strategically placed camps.

"Exceeded all expectations!!! My friend and I booked without much prior research into the different routes of Kilimanjaro or what it entailed. We landed on our feet with World Adventure Tours (associated with Zara tours, both female owned companies). We did the 6-day Machame route, which was beautiful, and each day was a new captivating landscape. Our guides Living and TomTom were professional, inspiring, great company and FUN!! We grooved our way up that mountain (Living's afro-piano playlist is off the charts good!). It was clear they were well-respected with other guides/teams on the mountain and in Moshi. Our entire team of guides, porters, chef and waiter were OUTSTANDING (shout out to Joseph, who was a delight to see at the beginning and end of every hike) and we couldn't have asked for better company. Meeting other hikers along the route and hearing their experiences, we realised just how lucky we had been even from initially booking through to the end of the tour. Our tour contact Joyce was exceptionally clear and kept us well-informed throughout, making sure we were always on the same page about the plans. The hotel Springlands at the beginning and end of the tour blew us away, all the staff (shout out to Nur) and even the transfers in between all were well beyond what we had anticipated. Springlands celebrated my birthday with a delicious cake and all the staff came and sang which was a special gesture I will always remember ❤️ By pure chance, we ended up booking this tour and it feels like we were blessed 🙏 Don’t pass up this chance—you won’t regret it! SIX STARS!!! (PS - We met a couple who did safari with World Adventure Tours who also sang their praises).

"One of the best experiences of my life. I did the 8 day Lemosho route with Almighty Kilimanjaro. They were well organised from the start and I felt very safe in their hands throughout the trip. Our lead guide Robert, and his team, made the trip for us. I highly recommended asking for Robert. His knowledge of the mountain is unmatched and it meant that we benefitted from incredible views / moments that others did not due to his understanding of the weather patterns. I went solo (I’m 35) and joined two others (45) to make a group of 3. That was perfect for what I wanted, it had a more relaxed vibe and we were able to set a great pace throughout the trip. It also meant that we felt strong for the summit day and had acclimatised well. Led by Robert and Liberat, we were able to time the summit push to perfection, getting to the top for sunrise. It was an experience like none other 🌅 Other points to note, the food was great considering, you can borrow anything you need from the team and everyone from the porters to the cook made an effort to make us feel welcome. I could not recommend this team more!! Pole Pole! P.S. ask Robert about how he took Cheryl Cole and Garry Barlow and the comic relief team up Kili

Discover Mount Kilimanjaro tours for every budget
The Marangu Route makes a lot of sense if you're watching your budget - you'll get 6-7 days with proper hut accommodations instead of tents, which our travelers really appreciate after long days on the trail. Having real beds and basic facilities makes a big difference at altitude. The path itself follows a steady pace that works well for first-time high-altitude trekkers. Looking at the 7-day Machame route, that extra day actually saves you money since you'll need fewer altitude medications and have better summit chances. Both options cover all your meals, mountain fees and guide services without breaking the bank.

Our clients tell us they love being able to take those extra photo stops or spend more time exploring interesting spots like the Shira Plateau. You'll move through several different zones - starting in lush rainforest and working up to alpine desert - with one particularly special night camping under the stars at Karanga Valley. If you're looking for something shorter, the private Machame runs 6-7 days and still gives you that exclusive feel, with access to quieter camping spots and the freedom to time your summit push when conditions are just right for your group.

The 3-day Kilimanjaro experience packs quite a bit into a short time. Your first day takes you through Tarangire National Park, where elephants and wildebeest gather by the river in dry season. Day two features a forest walk up to Mandara Hut at 2,700m along the Marangu Route - keep your eyes up for black and white colobus monkeys swinging through the trees. To wrap things up, you'll spend the last day soaking in Kikuletwa Hot Springs, a natural pool surrounded by fig trees with Kilimanjaro views on clear days. Our travelers like this quick trip since it combines wildlife and mountain experiences without needing serious altitude training.
TourRadar recommends visiting:
Moshi, Mandara Hut, Horombo Hut
The 7-day routes hit the sweet spot between proper altitude adjustment and efficient climbing time. The Machame Route starts in dense rainforest before opening up to rocky ridges dotted with giant heather. Our guides set a careful pace through the Lava Tower section, which really helps bodies adjust to the height. Over on the Marangu Route (nicknamed the "Coca-Cola route"), you get the nice bonus of sleeping in mountain huts instead of tents. Our travelers often mention how impressed they are with the porter teams who somehow manage hot meals and warm washing water even at 4,700 meters. The Lemosho Route has gotten more popular lately - climbers enjoy its quieter paths and well-planned altitude progression, especially while crossing the wide Shira Plateau.
TourRadar recommends visiting:
Moshi, Machame Camp, Shira Camp One, Barranco Camp, Karanga, Barafu Hut, Lower Mweka Hut
Taking 10 days on Kilimanjaro gives you the best shot at reaching the top by adding key adjustment days. Most groups take the Lemosho Route, beginning with an easy climb through forest to Mti Mkubwa Camp. What makes these longer trips work so well is the extra time at important spots - like spending an additional day exploring Shira Plateau at 3,900 meters and taking it slow approaching Lava Tower at 4,630 meters. Having two guides per small group works great since people can move at different speeds as energy levels change. Summit morning feels less rushed and our climbers say they feel stronger thanks to the measured approach. The support teams become like family on these longer routes, and many of our travelers keep in touch with their guides well after the climb.
TourRadar recommends visiting:
Moshi, Londorossi Gate, Mti Mkubwa Camp, Shira Camp One, Lava Tower, Moir Hut, Crater Camp, Uhuru Peak, Barafu Hut, Mweka Gate
Demographics
The Marangu Route over 8 days works really well if you're traveling solo. You'll stay in mountain huts which naturally brings people together - our travelers often tell us they've made lasting friendships during meals and evening downtime. The 7-day Machame Route is another solid choice for solo hikers; you get your own sleeping tent for privacy but share meals and stories in the communal dining areas. What makes both routes particularly good for solo trekkers is how we structure the guide support - during the summit push, you'll have your own dedicated guide right there with you every step of the way.
Our younger clients consistently pick the 7-day Machame Route, and it makes sense - the trek hits just right with physical demands while giving enough time to adjust to altitude. There's some hands-on scrambling at the Barranco Wall and plenty of steep sections that add real challenge without needing climbing gear. The camping setup really clicks with our 20-something travelers; they tell us evening life at high camps creates natural connections between everyone. Young professionals often go for the 8-day Lemosho Route when they want better summit odds and also different landscapes to explore. That extra day wandering the Shira Plateau helps with altitude adjustment, and our guides know exactly how to balance the energy of younger groups while keeping safety first at higher elevations.
The 8-day Lemosho Route works beautifully for our senior travelers - just ask our recent 80-year-old client who made it to the top. The route spreads out ascent gradually with well-placed camps and optional altitude adjustment hikes. Our guides are particularly good at reading energy levels and tweaking daily schedules to match. Many older clients also like the Marangu Route since you get proper beds in mountain huts instead of tents. Both routes offer stable trails that go easier on the joints while giving you the complete Kilimanjaro experience.

- Spring 2025
Spring climbing on Kilimanjaro is particularly good on both the Machame and Lemosho routes. The 7-day Machame trek really comes into its own with clear spring skies - you get amazing views across the moorland and down to the plains. Our groups love camping at Shira Plateau this time of year since the nights are warmer and you can see countless stars overhead. Taking the longer 8-day Lemosho route in spring gives photographers plenty of chances to capture the mountain's transformation as winter snow melts away and spring plants emerge. The local guides know all the spots where seasonal wildflowers pop up briefly at the lower elevations.

TourRadar customers consistently point to four tour companies that really excel at Kilimanjaro climbs: World Adventure Tours, Spider Tours and Safaris, Kwesa Tours and also Migration Venture Africa. The guides from these operators get lots of mentions for going above and beyond - they're patient when you're struggling with altitude, keep spirits up during tough sections and know exactly when to push or pull back based on conditions and group energy. The food gets talked about a lot in the reviews too. It's actually quite impressive what these teams manage to cook up at high camps - hot meals that give you the energy you need for those pre-dawn summit pushes. They bring quality gear as well, which matters enormously when you're dealing with temperature swings and weather changes on the mountain. What really comes through in traveler feedback is how these companies handle the human side of the climb. The guides don't just lead - they create this supportive team atmosphere that makes a big difference when you're tired and the air's getting thin. They're good at reading people too, knowing when someone needs extra encouragement or when to adjust the pace to keep the group moving safely together.

The Lemosho route really shines during winter climbs on Kilimanjaro. It takes 8 days which gives you proper time to adjust to the altitude - you'll start in the forest at 2,200m and work your way across the wide-open Shira Plateau. Our travelers keep telling us how much that extra day helps them handle the winter conditions. The guides come prepared with special winter gear and those essential hot-water bottles that make such a difference during those freezing nights at Barafu Camp (4,640m). Even when temperatures drop below zero at the higher camps, the support teams somehow manage to serve up hot meals that keep everyone going.
