The trekking was fairly straightforward with just a bit of challenge on the wall which involved a bit of scrambling. Otherwise the main endurance came in the final ascent of the mountain and the decent which both took some digging deep to complete. None the less rewarding a fantastic experience. If you are thinking about summiting Kilimanjaro, please request these two. You will not be disappointed! The tour company went out of their way multiple times. We had three hot meals a day, a spacious tent, comfortable sleeping pads, and even a picnic! I was blown away at how special and easy they made our summit. I went with my Son and right from the start they were very professional making you the priority. The two guides William and Stephen could not do enough for you and would go at the pace you were happy with,as I’m 60 years and had a knee replacement then they allowed for this . The 7 day route was very challenging but was also made very enjoyable by their hard work .Thanks to their help in pace and friendly advice we both reach the summit and boy was it worth the effort .A big thank you also to the fabulous porters who without them we could not do this . I can honestly say 10 out of 10 to World Adventure Tours for giving both my son Sam and myself an experience we will not forget . - DMDavid· March 1st, 2024As much as you might prepare for your climb, it is the unknown variables that can influence your experience. The ability of the climbing team to address these varibles is important. Our two guides, Zungo and Amini were brilliant. Their experience, knowledge, compassion, and ability to handle challenges that arose ensured a successful experience. Their team of cook, waiter and porters were incredible. The ability of the porters to manage the movement of equipment and supplies is one of the highlights of the trip. One of my new kiswahili words is upaypo (wind). We were unable to summit due to the incredibly strong wind during the final ascent. Would highly recommend asking for Zungo and Amini to lead your climb! While there were no specific technical hiking skills/knowledge required, a significant amount of physical, mental, and emotional preparation is necessary to ensure a successful climb. You are but one of three factors that have to come together to reach your goal. Your climbing team and the mood of the mountain will play vital roles. Not summiting DOES NOT mean you did not succeed. Zungo, Amini, and their team provided every opportunity for me. Their professionalism, encouragement, and assistance was first class. Thank you, World Adventure Tours and Zara.
