Fantastic introductory tour to Southeast Asia, very keen to come back and explore more!
- Cambodia to Vietnam: Night Markets & Noodle-Making
AMAZING TRIP! Cambodia and Vietnam are hidden gems! If you are looking for a temple hunting, adventurous, cultural experience in SouthEast Asia - look no further! I am so happy I booked this tour! I regret not going to Laos and Northern Thailand on the continuation trip. I had met incredible people all over the world I could call friends for life. :) I really felt part of a close knit family and it was so hard to say goodbye! When I was hunting through tours I know the reviews helped me greatly in my decision making, so I'm going give you my honest feedback! Let's first start with the cons of this trip: - A LOT of traveling (expect to move every 1-3 days, bus rides ranging from 4-14 hours). However, when you're with a great group time flies so much faster. Recommend bringing a book, downloaded movies, songs, etc. to keep you busy during transportation. Overnight bus and train rides provide nice downtime, but are long. - Amenities can either be great (all had hot water, flushing toilets, and overall comfy rooms) or not so pleasant (got bed bug bites from the hotel in Hue - just part of the experience!) - Not enough time sometimes to see and do everything (could have stayed another night in Hoi An, Siem Reap, or Sihanoukville). However, I didn't feel rushed either. Now the Pros!: - Breathtaking, once in a lifetime experiences (sunsets over the rice fields, Bamboo Island, Angkor Wat, Killing Fields, and Halong Bay) - Everything is so CHEAP! (as beautiful Europe is, I saved myself more than double the cost going to SouthEast Asia while doing more!) - Really felt part of a family in which my group did almost every activity together! - Great tour guide who went above and beyond to make my trip incredible. For instance my shackle broke and Visal took it upon himself to go fix it for me during his free time. - Options to do abseiling, bike rides, cooking class, scooter tours, and much more which are all unforgettable experiences! Some Tips: - Bring lots of hand sanitizer, it can be hard to find. - Buy things in Cambodia since they are cheaper than Vietnam (but don't fret if you go shopping in Vietnam, still cheap just not as cheap) - Pack lightly! I brought a rolling duffle which made a world of difference since my bag ended up being around 20 kg by the end! If it's hard for you to be a light packer like myself, rolling duffle all the way ;) - Since the trip is go go go, expect to probably get sick at one point (so I recommend bringing tummy medicine, cold/fever/flu pills, etc. with you). I brought things like Airborne and Emergency with me also which helped to boost my immunity while I was there.

Great trip, we had a wonderful time! Your team did a great job with all the logistics!

G Adventures' Cambodia Experience serves as a good example of this format. Recent feedback on TourRadar highlights the advantages with one traveler noting "Loved the small group. What are the main benefits of choosing a small group tour in Cambodia and Vietnam?
The compact nature of small group tours leads to more meaningful experiences throughout Cambodia and Vietnam. Groups can easily adapt their schedules visit local communities and participate in homestays at places like Chambok Village. When exploring Halong Bay smaller groups can take traditional boats instead of larger tourist vessels. A TourRadar participant noted that their small group could stay at distinctive properties like the La Siesta Resort in Hoi An which helped them connect more deeply with local culture.
What style of accommodation can I expect on a small group tour?
Accommodations on small group tours blend comfort with local character through a selection of 3-4 star boutique hotels and regional properties. The Tirant Hotel in Hanoi's Old Quarter and the Somadevi Angkor Resort in Siem Reap represent the typical standard. What unique activities are available to small groups in Cambodia and Vietnam?
Small groups can access experiences that larger tours often cannot such as cooking workshops in Hoi An's Ancient Town quiet corners of Halong Bay and early entry to Angkor Wat. Local guides with strong English skills and deep cultural knowledge lead these tours. The smaller group size allows for detailed discussions and personal attention. A TourRadar review emphasized this benefit: "Our guide at Angkor Wat was incredible - with just 8 of us he could really share in-depth insights about the temples that larger groups would miss."
