    • We visited a huge amount of sites in Namibia without feeling time pressured. Our leader and driver, Erastus and Michael worked so hard and succeeded making the trip a pleasure for us all. This tour of Namibia is wonderful and I feel as though saw the best of this beautiful country. We learned a lot about the country as we toured.

    • Our guide Cheelo was great and knowledgable in explaining plants/trees, wildlife. He is also a good driver. Mr. Smith, our chef, made sure we had well balanced and nutritious meals. Very good chef, I especially looked forward to dinner. Thank you, Cheelo and Mr. Smith. I had a wonderful time. And, very good itinerary. I highly recommend this tour.

    • Awesome itinerary. Our guides were terrific and accommodated all our needs. The food was fantastic and will definitely be back in the coming year.

    • From the moment we stepped on Namibian soil the company looked after us. Shuttle services were excellent, and once we hopped aboard our shuttle to Swakopmund Mr. Gregory began to tell us about Namibia! It was my third time to this area and there is always more to learn. From Swakopmund to The desert we enjoyed our Guide Gideon who was a very good communicator in the bus and equally adept at preparing delicious meals. Thanks as well for sharing your lovely sense of humor with us. Accommodations were lovely. We also did the Nama Flava tour with Simon and Raymond and enjoyed it as well. Very impressed with Chameleon!

    • This g adventure is lower end than national geographic. Every one paid less than 2000$ except us who paid 4500$ for national geographic and received g adventure instead. We are ask for a refund of 5000$ asap. This is fraud and misrepresentation and scamming older people. Please refund the extra charge.

    • The group makes the trip good. The CEO was good with all the information he gave on daily basis whether it was on logistics or other tour related. The driver was very care and knew not only about driving but was able to fix problems given the long distance driving. All in all the tour pretty much covered the highlights of Namibia. We enjoyed the tour and the group and recommend it to others.

    • We had a wonderful time during our trip through Namibia with Across Africa Tours & Travel and can highly recommend! We are a couple from Germany, used to good hotels but also spend a lot of time in the mountains hiking and staying over in Alpine lodges. We normally also like to travel and explore a new country and culture on our own - but due to workload we did not have time to acquaint ourselves with Namibia before the trip so we've opted for a small group, organized trip. We found the offer short notice (3 days prior to departure) on Tourradar, booked on a Sunday - and received confirmation straight Monday morning! :) @Across Africa Tours & Travel: thanks for making this possible! Contact prior to the trip was very friendly, and questions were answered quickly. The trip in lodges and campsites was well organized. Car, drive, campsites, lodges, tent and equipment were all very nice, comfy and in good shape. We are minor neat freaks - but just bring a liner and your gear, and all is fine. Our trip went from Windhoek to Sossusvlei / Solitaire, Swakopmund and area, to Etosha and back to Windhoek. It was planned to arrive back in Windhoek late afternoon / early evening and we had no stress making our departure flight at 7:30 pm. We had a great time with our guide/driver, Shawn! Many thanks for the wonderful trip - we can truly recommend!! Due to the short-noticed booking we ended up travelling just the two of us, and Shawn did the best to cater to our needs and was very flexible. As far as possible, requests on alterations to the route (i.e. spending more time somewhere, taking out a stop but therefore adding another one on the route etc.) where done. His recommendations on additional activities and possible alterations where all worth while - of course, it's up to you to choose, but utilize your guide's connections where possible. For example, we very much enjoyed: - Hot-air balloon ride in Swakopmund (wanted to do this for years so took the chance. Hot-Air Ballooning Namibia was very safe, friendly, well organized, punctual for agreed pick-up etc.) - Jeep safari to Sandwich Harbour near Swakopmund (not cheap but very recommendable! done by Sandwich Dune Tours) - Open air jeep for safari in Etosha (contact through Shawn) - Recommendations on restaurants We also liked the BBQs, grocery shopping etc. - all added to the occasion. And in our conversations we also learned more about Namibia than if we had just travelled by ourselves. To us, it was a special trip to remember. It was only too short, but that's down to our availability. So we definitely want to come back and would book with Tourradar and Across Africa Tours & Travel again at any time!

    • We had a great time in Namibia. From the moment we arrived it went like clockwork, seamless from airport pickup, pre accommodation and the whole tour itself. (It would only be fair to say that before the trip, however, the paperwork - hotel, transfer vouchers were very slow to arrive. The Sunday before a Tuesday departure we were almost at panic stations trying to find out where things were. We made phone calls & eMails to Europe, USA & Africa to chase things up. It shouldn't be like that. Very stressful.) Our guide for the week (Sylvester/Sylverius) was superb. He made our trip what it was. His driving was excellent (over 2500kms on a variety of roads), always safe and secure. His knowledge of the places we visited was just so good. If you manage to get him when you do this trip you will be very lucky indeed. The accommodation was excellent - Moon Mountain Lodge & Etosha Village particularly so. The Plaza in Swakopmund was not quite as good but ... you can't have everything. (This is a trip run by Across Africa Tours & Travel and they, too were a bit lacking with the paperwork. Our hotel bookings at Moon Mountain & Etosha were unconfirmed on arrival. There were rooms for us, luckily, at both lodges but at Etosha, our guide had to be accommodated at another lodge 25km away - it left us in a slightly embarrassing position. This is something we'd check up on before we went next time) The range of visits in this trip is very good indeed. You get to see great deal of Namibia in a short space of time. it was well worth doing. We'd recommend it to anyone. Our guide talked, also, about similar trips to Botswana and we would definitely consider using TourRadar to go there (hopefully with a slight improvement on pre-holiday communication). Our guide Sylvester said that he also worked the Botswana tours so if we go we'll ask for him. A long journey via Johannesburg to get there but well worth. It was the holiday of a lifetime. we'd go back and do exactly the same again at the drop of a hat. Thank you.

    • An absolutely impressive and well-organized trip!
      Excellent - by Caroline Jung
    • The positives first: - We were very happy with both Notty, the office staff, and our guide and driver Immanuel. Communication before the trip went smoothly and Immanuel drove us very confidently throughout the week, even on challenging terrain, so that we felt safe with him at all times. On the long journeys we also had the odd good conversation and he was able to provide us with information about some of the sights. - The individual daily destinations were absolutely impressive. Be it the dunes in the Namib Desert, the dead trees of Deadvlei or the animals in Etosha: the highlights of Namibia are united on this tour and while we were probably very lucky to see so many animals, Immanuel can also be praised for knowing the park well and knowing where/how to find animals. - The group size: There were three of us at the start. However, the third person had booked a shorter tour, so there were only two of us afterwards. So we were able to influence the trip a little with our wishes. - It is a black-owned organization, which was important to us so as not to contribute to the imbalance that still exists between the black and white population. What we didn't like so much: - If you look at it on the map, you'll see that the locations are very far apart. As a result, you spend a lot of time in the car during these seven days. You have to be aware of this beforehand. - Camping is not a good idea in Namibia in winter. Or to put it another way: If you want to camp, you should definitely bring your own sleeping bag. The sleeping bags that you can rent from the organizer are not suitable for the night-time temperatures in the desert (for us it dropped to 4°C). We upgraded for the last two nights and are still clarifying how this can be offset against the price of the unused campsites. - We may have just been unlucky, but our trip was quite chaotic as the bank card our guide had been given for expenses during the trip didn't work. As a result, there were regular delays and waiting times because Immanuel had to keep organizing cash. Even at lunch, we had the feeling that they were trying to fob us off with food from the hot food counter at the supermarket in order to make do with the cash that was always in short supply. You can easily eat in cafés or smaller restaurants with the budget you've actually calculated for lunch. That wasn't the problem. At our last lunch, we added the missing ND 60 (approx. €3) ourselves because Immanuel once again didn't have enough cash with him. In retrospect, Discovery handled our criticism very well and appreciatively and promised to pay us around €125 as compensation for the missed dinner and half of the last two nights. Overall, the tour is highly recommended. Stars: Overall: 4 Itinerary: 5 Transportation: 4 Food: 3 Guide: 5 Accomodation: 4 Tour Operator 4

    • My wife and I hadn't "camped" since we were married some 35 years ago but we more than survived the 5 days on Safari. We loved the whole experience. For those thinking reluctantly about camping in a Game Park what you get far exceeds the little "perceived" discomfort of camping. If you stay in a Lodge adjoining a park - you will have to lose Game viewing time travelling in and out of the park to have that comfort,, The tour we were on is not Glamping, You sleep in two man tents, on cots with warm bedding and a cover on the floor of the tent. You are provided a rechargeable light with your tent, There is an open air "ensuite" at the rear accessed through a zip. It is like a closed courtyard with a canvas floor. The Camp Toilet is surprising okay and you have to co-ordinate a daily shower. My wife and I are not experienced campers and we managed the timing of all this. There will be an open camp fire and a communal eating area, The food was all cooked over an open fire and was great. KD our Chef really had to be congratulated for the food, The funny thing is the first night we were all in a Lodge after 5 days camping - we all said we probably slept better in our camp cot? There is NO TV - NO Internet. Everyone had wonderful days and arrived back in camp excited and tired having seen wonderful animal sightings all day. We had dinner, went to our tents and prepared for the next early morning game drive, From two very inexperienced Campers please do not let any thoughts of "Camping" hold you back. We had Hyena and Lions in our camp overnight - there was no danger - just stay in your tent at night, A herd of Elephants went by one night and given their size they are surprisingly quiet, The sights our Guide Chief showed us will be with us forever. Honestly our experiences in Africa have been wonderful. We saw 33 mammal varieties, endless birds, 33 Lions. 5 Leopards, hundreds of elephants, buffalo and hippos, many zebras and giraffes, multiple antelopes varieties in endless quantities, We saw a Leopards and Lions with Kills and saw a Leopard hunting, Our first day left us in awe and our second and third days were even better.

    • This was a very intrresting tour but one has to be prepared for the long drives in an open vehicle where you are exposed to the elements including the relentless sun. Seeing wildlife as always is due to chance as animal behaviour cannot be predicted. Having said that , guides in the area alert one another of sightings. Our program was partly changed at last minute esp the accomodation. Some were comfortable changes whilst others caused a certain amount of invonvenience. Accomodation in tents with dug out toilets was an experience but happy it was only for 5 nights. The program was well put together and it was a good experience. I would recommend this to everyone but you need to be prepared.

    • Peregrine Tour – Classic African Safari Feedback Overall experience: Excellent The principal objectives of this tour were all achieved. We were able to view and photograph nearly all the animals we hoped to see. We had good leaders and drivers and excellent company. Accommodation was satisfactory to excellent and transport was effective if subject to a few deficiencies. There were some hiccups but there was clearly a desire on the part of Peregrine to rectify these as possible. Health and safety One concern as that the transport truck on the last two legs had problems with broken bindings for one of the fuel tanks. The door to the passenger compartment also was jammed and could not be opened from the inside – a worry when we found ourselves sitting directly above the unsafe fuel tank. The door problem was eventually rectified but the fuel tank bindings broke a second time. Itinerary This was comprehensive and a reason we felt this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience most of the attractions of east and south Africa. The trip was certainly undertaken in an environmentally and socially responsible way. Culture We had good interactions with Maasai people, San bushmen and the Cape Malay community as well as with accommodation staff and other guests at the relevant venues. Local drivers/guides for the game drives were also communicative. Accommodation Most venues were excellent. There were some changes from the advised itinerary (which others in the party were given advanced warning of but we were not). Some of these were probably a change to better facilities (e.g. Lake Nakuru Lodge rather than Sleeping Warrior tented camp & Trailblazers Camp rather than Dqae Quare Lodge in Ghanzi). However, inability to stay a second night at Mopane Lodge, Damaraland and the need to move to Khorixas Rest Camp was a definite downgrade. Also the inability to stay at Namibia Desert Lodge and diversion to Swartfontein Hunting Lodge was a major problem given the additional time (2h15m each way) to reach Sossuvlei and Sesriem, despite the excellence of the Lodge itself. Half our group opted not to go on that day trip because of the additional time and the state of the vehicle. Transport – poor Activities – Excellent Meals – excellent The transport was something of a let-down. We appreciate that availability of good appropriate transport in Africa may be limited and what there is may suffer greatly regularly because of the state of the roads. Our benchmark was the truck used when we toured with Peregrine in Mexico last year which had been much more upmarket. However we had problems with each of the trucks used in Africa: 1) Kenya. Reasonable truck. There was no air-conditioning but it was not required in those temperatures. No microphone system for leader. Did have fridge and lockable safe. 2) Maasai Mara. Appropriate vehicles for game drives. Because of rains, tracks had become muddy and local drivers did not appear to have either expertise or equipment to cope and frequently got bogged. This caused a delay of over an hour for us to be picked up after a balloon ride. 3) Tanzania. Truck seemed similar to that used in Kenya but had problems with engine pressure and stalling so (thankfully) we had more time in game drive vehicles than planned. The truck also proved to be very leaky in both passenger and luggage compartments. 4) Victoria Falls-Cape Town. Truck was smaller than the previous two with uncomfortably narrower seats. There was a roof that could be raised but this was unsuitable unless people were very tall. The bindings securing it were continually failing so it rattled throughout. The actual roof was quite low and a real hazard for taller members of the group. It was not a suitable vehicle for an extended game drive (for which it was scheduled in Etosha) as those on inner seats would have had very limited views. The entire group opted to pay an additional US$90 each to use game drive vehicles provided by the lodge. There was an air-conditioning unit of variable effectiveness and initially it leaked badly and had to be switched off. There was no safe or fridge available. More seriously, half way across the Namibian desert, bindings for the second fuel tank broke. Some of the passengers helped to secure it temporarily with a chain and it was “repaired” in Swapokmund but promptly broke again the next day. Safety issues with the jammed door are mentioned above in “Health and Safety”. The transport company replaced the vehicle with a “Sprinter” bus which gave a much more comfortable ride over rough roads but had more limited viewing facility. 5) Namibian border. Because of the change of vehicle, the exit bureaucracy at the Namibian border caused major problems. The transport company were reputedly “too busy” to forward replacement papers for a few hours and we had to wait for 3-4 hours before we could leave the country. Crew Our leader on the first leg was excellent with good local knowledge and excellent communication skills. He demonstrated extraordinarily good prediction skills about the likely movement of animals. He was responsive to the needs and request of the group. The driver on our first leg was competent and safe. Our leader on the second and third legs was also first rate, enthusiastic, approachable, organised and communicative. Both leaders showed a commitment to a high level of responsible tourism. The driver on our second and third legs was also safe and helpful although did get caught a couple of times exceeding the local speed limit (we felt sorry for him as the signs had not been all that clear and helped with his instant fines). The roads were challenging to say the least and he coped well with the difficulties and the broken fuel tank straps. He was rather shy socially but did join the group and we enjoyed looking at his family photos. Booking process There were many emails back and forth but the local contact was always patient and helpful. Trip notes Some of these were out-of-date when we travelled but we had not been notified of alterations, especially regarding changes of accommodation (some others had received updating emails). Had the change to Swartfontein Lodge been notified well in advance with a caution about the transport distance but a well-deserved complimentary description of the lodge, this would have caused less disgruntlement among the party. General comment Peregrine may not be the cheapest tour company but do have a commitment to quality. When inevitable problems arise they do make a strong effort to ameliorate or correct them.

    • Original itinerary was great but not followed by guide. Sth Africa, Botswana, etc, saw big five but none of the cultural experiences, schools, music, people as listed in itinerary. Guide not interested, received no reply from Peregrine after sending email. Still left wanting as trip was once in a life time.

    • The tour was fantastic. Every detail was taken care of. Itenerary was extensive however needed to show many aspects of beauty of Namibia. All of these would have not been as amazing if it was not for our spectacular guide Me-gusto. Man with great personality, endless interesting stories and knowledge. He was in tune with group and made sure everyone was equally important in what he wanted to do or see. Such a great asset for Blue Crane Safari.

    • The trip had very good itinerary, comfortable car (which was important since we covered over 4000 km), lodges with AC and all but one meals covered. Our guide/driver (Ma Gusta) was excellent, very knowledgeable and caring. This trip covered most of Namibia offering canyon, various game parks, dunes and some history. Highly recommend.

    • This tour has excellent itinerary, focus is on nature and wildlife, and drives (for Africa standards) are not too long (just 2 days are whole day driving). Driver Steve always explained what we can expect on road and because his huge experience, we always arrived on time and have enough time for activities. This is a possible risk on tours like this so driver can be most important person to have smooth holiday! Meals are very good prepered, thanks to cook Martin, always more than enough food for everyone. Tour leader Gift is always here to help and explain details. He has authority over the group but it is also very warm person who is part of the team not just a leader, great guy! I have only one suggestion for this tour. That is one day more in Maun so it is possible to do whole day game drive in Moremi NP. This tour is possible to organize like optional activity in the camp where you stay in Maun.
