My customers had such a wonderful experience on their trip around Colombia. They were able to know about history, architecture, traditional food, nature and so much more. They had local experiences and they enjoyed both of the cities and the natural destinations like beautiful beaches as well. From beginning to end they felt safe and comfortable and all the staff made sure they had a smooth experience moving from one city to the other. They were happy and grateful for their trip. Thank you!
- by Maria CabotIt was an amazing trip which showed very well the diversity of Colombian landscapes, climates, nature, cities, food, culture and people. Hotels were very good and in the center of the cities. Especially the GHL in Cartagena was great to explore the numerous restaurants and bars of Getsmani in the evening. The transport to the airport and to the hotel worked well. You get your flight ticket via Email one day before. If not just drop them a short message and you will receive them within a few minutes. The drivers will contact you via whatsapp few hours before or when you arrived at the airport. I booked the tour with an English speaking guide, because I don’t speak Spanish. It was a good choice and the English of the guides was very good. The tours were good, you don’t have to stand in the lines like normal tourists and in the most touristic places you get there earlier than the big groups. So you can enjoy the places, e.g. El Peñol rock, not so crowded at the beginning. The time schedule is also relative flexibel. You have enough time to visit the attractions and there is also time to go shopping or having e.g. a very good Colombian coffee without hurry or stopping at a ATM. The included free snacks and lunch during day were always delicious and local. The advantage of a private tour is definitely that you can ask everything and you get much more information of culture, daily life, politics and so on cause you spend a lot of time with the guide. The only big con for me was the very high price if you are travelling alone and not in groups of 2+.

I recently took trip to Cartagena, Colombia with World Awaits Tours. I recommend booking with Bernell. She was very helpful with and well informed about how to survive the tourist industry and how to navigate the city. World Awaits Tours customized my experience to fit my interest. I went on a wonderful tour of the mangroves with local fishermen, spent time on a beach where the locals go (away from the tourist crowed beaches), and took a tour of the city guided by a local historian who gave me her perspective in addition to facts. I enjoyed learning about the culture of the city from the people who live there. I was offered a view of life in Cartagena from their perspective and gained an understanding of how the city has developed from a historical context. During my two week stay, Bernell’s knowledge of the best grocery stores and dry cleaning services was a godsend and helped make my extended stay enjoyable. I am especially grateful that she knew of a doctor that made house calls to my Airbnb when I unfortunately ate something that did not agree with my stomach during my first week. I give the service a 10 out of 10 and can’t wait to book more tours.
- by Channing MossI very much enjoyed my time in Cartagena, Columbia, South America in 2022. I was told that the month of December afforded us mildness in regard to the usual warmer temperatures of other months. My Accommodations were comfortable and safe, and we had a magnificent hostess. Bernell's planning was high quality and I did not have to do anything except arrive there. I even had money exchanged before leaving the USA. One less detail for her to have to take care of upon my arrival. We, Bernell and I, made new friends in Cartagena and we are excited to be working with the dance leaders we met to host a Dancing in the Street joint project in the future. More details to come. It is my sincere hope that you all will accept her next invitation to "meet her" in a foreign or unique location, or allow her to plan a travel excursion for your family so you too can experience "travel like a local" -- I guarantee you will be delighted that you did.
