OUTSTANDING!! SUPERB!! OUTSTANDING!!! From the start -- The tour guide Swayba shared Exactly where she would meet my wife and I at the airport -- and that is very important with hundreds of people and taxi drivers walking in close proximity of the exit doors of the airport! Even before we had arrived, we had asked 2 weeks in advance to deviate from the tour scheduling and visit a town named Nima (a suburb of Accra) to visit a children's school to provide some very minor school supplies. They easily could have said -- You will need to make arrangements to have school staff pick you up or schedule a taxi. They gladly incorporated our 3 hour visitation request into the itinerary WITHOUT any additional charges! We had a fascinating tour of the Ghana National museum which included bronzed sculptures of several of Ghana's earliest presidents and the rich history surrounding their lives. They even shared Historically how in some cases the power of the queen would result in her family inheriting control of the estate -- not the king's lineage. The tour of the Aburi Gardens included seeing and learning that frankincense comes from the root of a tree, as well as hearing about the numerous other plants and trees. We stayed overnight at a small resort overlooking Lake Volta - beautiful - which we took a little boat ride on the next day! We toured Kakum National Park - a mostly undisturbed rainforest which has a Canopy Walkway - a suspended bridge 30 meters above the ground which we got to walk on - NOT for those with a fear of heights - It was AWESOME! We also went to Black Star Square - Elmina castle, Cape coast castle, Cedi bead factory and more!! I also wish to thank our driver - Enis, Enis navigated the roads when they were challenging as well as getting us to ALL of the locations expeditiously and safely. He is an excellent driver!!! I would also include that Rashida, the tour supervisor helped immensely in the initial tour coordination and the initial pick-up from the airport. All in all as I said at the beginning OUTSTANDING!! SUPERB!! OUTSTANDING!!! Bryan Johnson
I have just returned from a 12 day Best of Ghana Cultural Tour by Continent Tours. I have travelled around the world to over 40 countries and this was far the best trip I’ve taken. It was cultural, educational, historical, inspirational, and overwhelming with much joy which touched my mind, heart & spirit in such a sacred way. It was truly a trip of a lifetime and all due to the expertise of Tina Ross, Continent Tour Manager, the thoroughness of Matina Kuma, our tour guide, and safety of Samwell, our driver. From the moment I contacted Continent Tours, Tina made me feel very at ease that she understood exactly what I wanted in a customized tour. She always exercised professionalism, thoughtfulness, compassion, understanding and a sweet demeanor throughout the 9 month process before our departure. She never gave any hesitation or negativity towards the changes, additions, questions and concerns that I had. Her actions certainly provided me with a comfort and assurance that I was going to have the type of tour that I desired. As the tour date became closer & closer I became more & more excited which was all due to Tina. My tour was all of what I planned and even more than my expectations and was blessed immensely with extra surprises that were included by Continent Tours. To add to this, our tour guide was Matina Kuma, who had an effervescent and loving personality with her heartfelt hugs and sweet radiant smiles from our airport pickup throughout our journey until our airport drop off. She embraced my 3 companions and myself with much care, protection, respect & love as senior women and affectionately referred to us as “Mama”, which gave rise to us truly adopting her as our Ghanian daughter and genuine blessings of being family. She was very kind and generous to ensure our needs where met at all times. She had an amazing and thorough knowledge of all the regions of Ghana, its different languages and cultures which provided us with much education, history and to experience the different people of Ghana in every aspect of life. There was never a concern or fear or doubt that we were truly in safe hands. Samwell, our soft spoken, warmhearted and expert driver was very meticulous in maneuvering some of the undesirable roads to give us the best comfort. I would sincerely and strongly recommend Continent Tours to anyone wishing to visit Ghana and especially for those that desire to learn their ancestry. Do your research, document what you wish to see and experience, number of days first so that Continent Tours can give you the experience of a lifetime that you will greatly appreciate with no regrets and be enthused to share with others as I do. Be sure to request Tina Ross, Matina and Samwell.
"Thank you so much for organizing our trip to Ghana. We were a group of four and our trip was well organized. Our guide, Gian, and our driver, Nana were exceptional.
"Was my 1st tour, and frankly it was awsome, Guide was knowledgeable on every aspect of his country, Pleasant, friendly, and took great care of us.
"If you're even considering this tour, we highly recommend you book now. This tour is a great way to be introduced to Senegal and Ghana since they offer two different experiences but both in West Africa. If we could do anything differently, it would only be to add on the 2 day tour to see Saint Louis in Senegal because we would have liked to spend more time there. Our tour guide in Senegal was Abou and our driver was Ibou. Both were absolutely fabulous. Abou was willing to teach us about his country including some phrases in Wolof, answer all our questions, take us to delicious restaurants to try local food, and make sure we were always taken care of. Senegal is an amazing country with extremely welcoming people and a rich culture. In Ghana, our tour guide was Elvis. This tour is a good introduction to Ghana from bustling Accra to local crafts in Kumasi to the beautiful Cape Coast/Elmina area with its educational history. The people of Ghana were also very welcoming and we enjoyed the food and culture. This is a great local company with local guides and a local perspective. This trip truly enhanced our lives.
