Extremely disappointed that we were not informed of the hotel change at the beginning of the trip. I think it would be beneficial to change the group meeting either early afternoon or after dinner so that people can see the Shanghai skyline at night For the sleeper train book whole section and then split the price so you can be with people you know. Sunny was a great guide. She was very informative, helpful and just an all around lovely person who allowed us to appreciate Chinese culture and hospitality.

I found both the program and the tour guide on site very good. Everything was very well organized and the tour guide was very well informed, helpful and friendly.

It was a great tour, we saw so many things we wouldn't have seen if we had been traveling by ourselves! The days were very busy but the guides made everything simple and their suggestions/alternative plans were relevant. The food was delicious and the hotels were comfortable.

Quite excellent organization of our trip! Prompt feedback on questions and an absolute all-round carefree package that helped us have an unforgettable travel experience.

Shopping stops were too long and a waste of time (eg silk factory). Only 2 hours at the Great Wall was not enough not give the relevance to the place. That was a dissapointment

I really enjoyed the tour but it did cause some disappointment that the Great Wall was taken out of my itinerary and moved to a day after we would have departed. 5 of us had the extra expense of hiring a private vehicle and going without our guide and group- this caused confusion with buying the tickets because of the language barrier so we ended up paying twice for a ticket too. I was also looking forward to spending the night on Song Shan mountain which was changed. Alex my tour guide was fantastic and I still had a great experience but do think that such a key landmark such as the Great Wall should definitely not be changed because that was one of the main reasons for me booking the tour and it ruined it a bit at the start. I love that G adventures provide good opportunities for travellers to really experience the culture and I this is also a reason why I this was the second time I booked with G adventures. Thank you

I really enjoyed this tour and would recommend it! It was my first time taking part in one of those. I was travelling on my own and it was a great opportunity to meet people and share activities with them. Our guide Tom was very competent, super nice, attentive to our needs and fun. We also had many occasions to get his insider perspective about life in China. His presence was essential in getting to understand the local culture and getting around since most people we encountered didn't speak much English. The only thing to be considered while planning would be the extra cost encountered by the optional activities. That being said, I really recommend them as they were all a lot of fun and the best way to discover and experience China without any of the organizational hassle. Also, G Adventures need to update a few details about changes in the itinerary for the trip (e.g. faster trains replace most overnight trains).

The tour was absolutely incredible. Every day the hiking was so different and the wall incredible. The food was excellent. Accommodation is basic but that is all part of the experience.

The trip exceeded expectations. Our guide in Beijing was exemplary and shared with us so many aspects about his culture and history. The range of activities was far reaching and the ability to appreciate two cities (we did the Xian extension) together with the rural aspects of China was appreciated.

I had a wonderful time on this trip, as everything went smoothly, with so many different experiences and a fantastic tour director. Others in the group were friendly and great company. I can't fault the whole tour and would highly recommend it (and Globus) to others looking for a high quality experience.

We took an expensive China tour with Globus/Avalon and it was the worst tour I have ever taken. They were unprepared. Also the things they promised were not delivered. The tour director talked about tips more than the tour. As far as customer support, they did not return calls and still have not responded to my requests even though we have been back five weeks.

Frank was an excellent guide who really made the trip. The sites were all amazing and we had just the right amount of time to see them. The only disappointment was Hong Kong but that was not the fault of Explore.

Three different weather zones, try to pack light!

The round trip was well planned in terms of organization; good hotels, food rather average; all the highlights visited were top; Yangtze cruise perhaps one day too long, as it was a bit boring due to the rainy weather. Apart from that, everything was great, the tour guide, Mr. Qian Ding, deserves a special mention, as I - and the other travellers were of the same opinion - have never had a better tour guide. Extremely competent, with in-depth and broad knowledge, very helpful and extremely likeable.
