Sustainable tourism as the norm, not the exception

Our guiding purpose is to be a catalyst for change in the tourism industry. We believe that sustainable and responsible tourism should be the norm in the industry. By 2030, we aim to be the number one Adventure Booking Platform with all active operators having sustainability initiatives in place. We want to create a world where travelers can embark on unforgettable journeys while making a positive impact on the environment and local communities. Let’s make sustainable tourism the new standard together.

Our sustainability pledge

On December 15th, 2022, we released our Climate Action Plan, intending to have all our active operators have sustainability initiatives in place by 2030 and to develop an Impact Measurement Tool to simplify carbon measurement and reporting.

We stood together, united in our commitment to fight against the impending climate crisis. The air was thick with excitement as we signed the Glasgow Declaration on climate action in the tourism industry, pledging to take action and create an actionable plan to combat this pressing issue. Our Climate Action Plan was born out of our shared responsibility to ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.

What we pledge to do

When we march alongside the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), we unlock a world of possibilities for our planet and people. By putting our heads together and focusing on three impactful areas, we catalyze sustainable economic growth and help to preserve our world. These goals aren’t just a checklist but a worldview that drives us to aim higher and strive for more. Our commitment to sustainability is woven into every fiber of our being, and we’re always looking for groundbreaking ways to make a difference.

People

At the heart of our goal for our people and the people we are connected to throughout the world are four key SDGs: No Poverty, Good Health and Well-Being, Gender Equality, and Decent Work and Economic Growth. We can create a more equitable and sustainable world by focusing on these SDGs.

Our team is a lavish mishmash of individuals from more than 40 countries, united by a common goal to make a positive impact. Diversity is not only valuable but essential for fostering innovation and creativity. We strive to create a safe space where everyone is respected, accepted, and encouraged to reach their full potential regardless of background, perspective or opinions. That’s why we offer flexible working hours, remote-working opportunities, and mental health support to help our employees thrive.

We understand that our commitment to our employees is just one piece of the puzzle. We’re also dedicated to ensuring good working conditions for everyone involved in our organized adventures. We believe sustainable and impactful travel experiences are a powerful tool for promoting cross-cultural understanding and enriching people’s lives. However, we recognize that tourism growth can negatively impact some destinations and communities. That’s why we work to ensure that our organized adventures are responsible, equitable, and beneficial for everyone involved.
TourRadar promises to preserve the planet by ensuring that our adventures leave a postive impact

Planet

We’re dedicated to positively impacting the world by focusing on two crucial SDGs: Climate Action and Life on Land. We believe that responsible travel can help combat climate change and protect biodiversity and ecosystems, making a meaningful difference.

We understand that animal welfare is an essential aspect of sustainable travel, and we’re proud to support the guidelines developed by Intrepid Travel in collaboration with World Animal Protection. We encourage all operators to commit to implementing these guidelines when creating travel itineraries and selecting suppliers. By doing so, we can ensure that we travel with a positive impact on the environment and the communities we visit.

At the heart of our commitment to sustainability is the Measure, Reduce, Compensate approach. We're dedicated to setting climate action targets that align with the Paris Climate Agreement and are recognized as science-based targets. We will continue to measure and reduce our emissions and contribute to limiting global warming where possible.
TourRadar promises to grow sustainably by partnering with the tourism industry to foster change

Sustainable Economic Growth

We aim to support the targets of the following SDGs: No Poverty, Decent Work and Economic Growth, and Partnership for the Goals. We recognize that the tourism industry has the potential to create jobs, boost local economies, and generate foreign exchange. However, we also understand that tourism can negatively impact the environment and local communities if not managed responsibly. That’s why we are committed to promoting sustainable tourism practices that create long-term benefits for all stakeholders.

By working with operators who prioritize hiring locals as guides and supporting locally-owned accommodations, restaurants, and businesses, we can contribute to the economic development of our destinations. At the same time, we can help preserve local cultures, traditions, and ecosystems by promoting responsible tourism practices.

We believe that partnerships are crucial to achieving our goals. By collaborating with stakeholders across the tourism industry, we can build the capacity needed to promote sustainable tourism practices. This includes supporting initiatives that raise environmental awareness, conserve natural resources, and protect wildlife and biodiversity. By harnessing the power of our collective action, we can create a world where everyone can thrive.
