From start to finish, the organisation and communication were outstanding. Every member of the staff was friendly, professional, and dedicated to ensuring we had a wonderful experience. One of our initial worries about traveling in a foreign country where we didn't speak much of the language quickly dissipated upon meeting the Lima Tours staff and our knowledgeable guides. They made us feel safe and welcomed throughout the entire trip, which truly enhanced our experience. The attention to detail was second to none. From our arrival at the airport to our departure, we felt truly spoiled. The information provided was precise and timely—everything from meeting points to collection times was communicated clearly, leaving no room for confusion. The accommodations were excellent, and the connecting transport was super efficient, allowing us to make the most of our time exploring the beauty of Peru. We generally had our own guides throughout the majority of the trip and everything felt personalized and customized. We saw a lot in a week, more than we could have otherwise on our own. - LSLisa· April 13th, 2023Highlights of our week: The hotels we stayed at were great - they were clean and had good food options.The hotel staff was consistently welcoming and helpful. In Limaflores, the hotel staff even helped when my mother’s luggage was misplaced by the airlines, negotiating with the airlines how to get her bag back to the hotel. All of our tour guides were phenomenal. They were very knowledgeable about the culture and history of Peru. They were proud of their people’s accomplishments and seemed very engaged in teaching us about how different monuments and structures came to be. We learned a lot and were able to ask questions and participate in discussion. We had the same tour guide for two days in Cusco. He was fantastic and we really enjoyed our time with him. Our guide for Machu Picchu also exceeded our expectations. Difficulties we encountered: We received our tentative tour schedule from TR within a week of paying for our tour. We received our final tour schedule from TR on March 27th, five days before our departure. We approved the schedule as it looked very much like the one we had initially agreed upon. My suggestion would be that, in the future, TR highlights the changes made in the original schedule. Like many, I worked up until the afternoon of my departure. I did not go through our schedule with a fine toothed comb and did not realize how drastically it had changed. Issues we had with our new schedule: We did not appreciate having a three hour wait in the Ollantaytambo train station. We would have preferred to sit apart (if that was what needed to happen for us to have been on the earlier train). This wait resulted in a very late arrival to Aguas Calientes. We did not have the opportunity to eat dinner or enjoy the town that day. We know that there was an earlier train as two other adults in our tour took that earlier train. We also preferred to have visited Machu Picchu in the morning, as described in our initial schedule. Our updated schedule had us entering MP at 2 pm, after a big lunch. We were not really able to enjoy the lunch as we knew that we had a big hike (and no restrooms) following it. Additionally, we had to immediately get on a train and then take a very long bus ride.
