    We had an amazing time trekking to Machu Picchu via the Salkantay trek. It was a tough 5 days but our group of 6 loved it. Once you reach Machu Picchu and take one of the hikes within the complex (Huayna Picchu) the views turn out to be even better than what is shown in postcards. Recommend it 120%

    My partner and i decided to take the Salkantay trek since the classic Inca trail was already booked solid. We kept our expectations not quite so high after Marco at journey machu picchu recommended The Salkantay trek but after arriving in Cusco we were ecstatic and could not wait to start the hike. The Salkantay was what was offered and much more, i could not believe how beautiful the landscape is and how amazing our guides and porters were. This trip was just an amazing experience that ended with Visiting Machu Picchu to then being taken back to Cusco via train. Truly a trip to recommend to anyone looking for an adventure.

    Very nice trek, everything was planned up to the arrival back in Cusco. This is a great trek to take for anyone looking to take amazing landscape pictures . I would say it is superior to the Inca trail in that aspect.

    The trip had been planned out for months, basically since late 2017. We were a group of 8 trekkers all worked up to hit the trail January 2018. The attention to detail was superb and we were more than happy with the guides and porters provided. They really did a good job and made sure we all felt good during the trek. Everything was good and the customer service provided up to the day we left Peru was top notch.

  • Payment information
    • For any tour departing before January 20th, 2025 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after January 20th, 2025, a minimum payment of 20% is required to confirm your booking with Journey Machu Picchu Travel. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 60 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
    • Some departure dates and prices may vary and Journey Machu Picchu Travel will contact you with any discrepancies before your booking is confirmed.
    • The following cards are accepted for "Journey Machu Picchu Travel" tours: Visa, Maestro, Mastercard, American Express or PayPal. TourRadar does NOT charge you an extra fee for using any of these payment methods.
