- Ryan· February 5th, 2022We had an INCREDIBLE experience with Alpaca Expeditions. Our family did 5 total tours with them and they were all world class. Our guide, Saul, was incredibly knowledgeable, personable, and kind. Our driver, Jorge, was kind, punctual, and very hard working. Our 2 year old LOVED them both and is still asking to see them again. Everything exceeded expectations from the first minute to the last. We will recommend Alpaca Expeditions to all of our friends and family!Show moreTrip date: February 2022
- Anne· February 2nd, 2022My family and I did a private customized version of the In Eyes of the Inca tour with the incredible tour guide Saul Palma in November of 2019 (luckily right before the pandemic!). We were so glad we went with Alpaca Expeditions for this trip a lifetime and feel very lucky that we were paired with Saul. He was an absolute professional and had such passion and pride for Peruvian culture. He was a great person to learn from during our week and we loved each part of the tour.Show moreTrip date: November 2019
- TFTimothy· February 10th, 2021We travelled as a family to Peru in September 2019 and wanted to visit Machu Picchu as part of this trip. I chose Alpaca Expeditions based on the reviews that I had read on Tripadvisor and was very glad that I did. When you book something like this remotely where I had to pay a large amount of money upfront to an account in the US for the Machu Picchu entrance tickets, there's always a nagging doubt that they might not be legitimate despite all the checks that I'd undertaken. We arrived at Cusco late in the evening as we were travelling from Puno on the train but the Alpaca guides were waiting for us at the station just as they said they would be. I wanted to do a tour of the Sacred Valley and trek to Machu Picchu but not the full 5 day trek. Alpaca were able to offer us a private tour getting off the train at KM104 and spending the day trekking to the Sun Gate, arrive about 3 or 4 in the afternoon. This is a great way to experience Machu Picchu as there are very few tourists in the main ruins at this point as they've mostly descended back down the valley to Aguas Calientes. Another good thing about doing it this way is that you have 2 opportunities to see the citadel just in case the weather isn't so good as it wasn't for us on the trek up on the first day. As it turned out, the second day was brilliant sunshine and blue skies. Broly was our tour guide that guided us up the mountain path. He was very passionate about the history of the citadel and great fun to listen to his stories during our meal together in the evening, when he used to work in a bar and ended up giving Salsa lessons rather than serving the drinks. Everything went like clockwork and I can't fault the experience that Alpaca provides. We did have one small issue in that I had booked a private tour but when we turned up at Ollantaytabo, we had 2 other tourists join our hike. That in itself wasn't an issue, it was just that I had paid quite a lot more for a private tour. When we returned to Cusco, I took this up with Alpaca. They realised their mistake and refunded the difference to us. This turned out to be difficult as I wanted the refund in Dollars rather than Sterling but Bonnie and Raul showed fantastic dedication in trying to achieve this for us. The problem was more to do with transferring Dollars back to a Dollar account in the UK, which the banks didn't seem to be able to handle.Show moreAlpaca Expeditions commented on this reviewDear Timothy, Thanks for your kind words and for travelling with us. We loved having this experience with you and can't be happier that it was awesome for you. Hope we can meet again on a new adventureTrip date: August 2019
