- EMErica· January 10th, 2024Unforgettable! I was one of the lucky participants to be on Dan's first group tour in Colombia for two weeks of adventure packed travel. The trip touched upon some of the country's most diverse landscapes and relied upon vetted, local guides that provided the knowledge (and the fun) to deem them invaluable. Our local accommodations were also unique gems that revealed the charm and spirit of their proprietors and made us feel safe and at home. After falling in love with the graffiti art in Bogota, we headed to the depths of the Amazonas, where pink dolphins swam in the river, indigenous rituals were shared and Monkey Island welcomed us. Then it was off to the Andes to summit Santa Isabel with her 16k' glacial peak and a view of the world below. We ended our journey on the laid back currents of the Caribbean Coast with time to hike in the national park, tube down a lazy river and to reflect on the raw beauty that Colombia offers. Our group was as diverse as the terrain and it was remarkable to watch Dan play the role of not just my tour guide, but also curious explorer, loyal cheer leader, handy barman, creative problem solver, pied piper, and patient friend! I would follow this guy anywhere and encourage others to give him a chance to share his dream with you. You will not be disappointed, and, if you can get him out on a dance floor...even better!Show moreGo Wild: American Adventures commented on this reviewErica, thank you so much for the gracious review. It was such a pleasure having you on our maiden voyage- you brought brightness and humor to every moment. Can't wait till our paths cross again. Cheers and many adventures~ DanTrip date: November 2023
- KCKate· December 4th, 2023Go Wild provided an extraordinary adventure to Colombia that was exhilarating and enlightening, with diverse experiences in the Amazon, the Andes and in the Caribbean. From our introduction in the biodiversity and indigenous cultures of the Amazonas to the stunning terrain of the Andes and Caribbean, Dan and Mateo planned and executed 14 days of sensory learning and challenging activities to help us better understand the splendor of Colombia with the utmost respect for our community hosts. Every aspect of the all-inclusive trip was expertly managed with delicious meals, treehouse and eco-focused lodgings, and especially, a huge variety of activities: sightseeing, hiking, insect, bird and animal watching, kayaking, tubing, mountaineering, swimming, hot springs soaking and learning throughout each day. I can’t recommend this trip highly enough for a uniquely immersive, mind-expanding and unforgettable journey of a lifetime.Show moreGo Wild: American Adventures commented on this reviewKate, thank you so much for the awesome review. - GGgina· November 29th, 2023What I loved about my GoWild trip to Colombia was that I felt as if caring, fun friends were taking me to their favorite spots in this beautiful diverse country. The local guides they arranged gave us insights plus a homey feel we wouldn't have likely had otherwise. The group was small (and companionable!) and there was great attention to detail, seamless logistics and a much appreciated flexibility when dealing with diverse needs and unexpected events! (I sprained my ankle and without requesting it was offered a nights stay in a local hotel rather than making the attempt to climb our treehouse abodes in the Amazon! I gladly accepted!) I am definitely looking forward to my next GoWild adventure!Show moreGo Wild: American Adventures commented on this reviewThank you so much for the review Gina! You we're such a ray of light on our tour. Thank you for trusting us with your travel. See you again soon~ DanTrip date: November 2023
- JGJ· November 25th, 2023Dan Sizer & the GoWild staff care. They care greatly about their fellow travelers, about the local people we visited, and about our world. Bringing a deep awareness of the ecological and climatic challenges we face during these times, they nonetheless organized an amazingly exciting, fun, informative and adventure-filled tour that was sensitive to the needs of visitors, as well as hosts. Our first component in Amazonas brought insights into the lives of a local indigenous community who shared knowledge of plants and wildlife, and invited us to be guests in their homes & homeland. Members of local tribes, a variety of species of endemic flora and fauna and even pink dolphins welcomed us! Time in the high Andes was also special. The breathtaking beauty of “Nido del Condor” and historical insights gained at a coffee hacienda and plantation were educational and interesting activities. For me, a true highlight came when we embarked on an attempted summit of Santa Isabel, at 16,190 ft. This 72-year-old would never have succeeded without the extra support and encouragement of Dan and the in-country hosts with whom he partnered. They made this achievement possible and I will forever be grateful. After a night’s rest in thermal baths, the Caribbean beckoned and did not disappoint. “Take-your-breath-away” vistas and beaches awaited, as did more learning experiences about the peoples whose land we were invited to visit. In conclusion, I wish to commend Dan on one of the best-planned and implemented tours I have been a part of. His attention to detail, concern for participants, and his ability to create and foster an environment of curiosity and learning made this time in Colombia one that will always be remembered. It was equal to and/or topped other recent experiences I’ve had in “off-the-beaten” path locations such as Bhutan, Nepal and Madagascar. Kudos to Dan and GoWild for offering eco-friendly experiences that provided us with endless opportunities to learn and enjoy Colombia’s culinary, historical, cultural and ecological riches. I give them my strongest recommendation.Show moreGo Wild: American Adventures commented on this reviewThank you so much for the thoughtful and rich review! - PVPat· November 24th, 2023An once-in-a-lifetime custom trip for my group of friends. This was not a bullet point tour of Colombia but rather a deeply rich, well thought out tour of amazing places that we could not have found on our own. Every guided and person we met on the tour was amazing, thanks to Dan and Mateo's knack for finding the best of the best. Already planning our next tour with Go Wild. Thanks so much for everything~Show moreGo Wild: American Adventures commented on this reviewThanks Pat! It was a great trip for us as well and we appreciate the review!Trip date: November 2023
- AAnonymous· November 22nd, 2023Go Wild put together a custom 1 week tour of Colombia for my friends and I that combined adventures that I don't think we could find anywhere else. We kayaked, met with indigenous elders, trekked through Paramo in the Andes without seeing any other people, and stayed in the most incredible accommodations. Dan and his team of local guides were amazing and truly experts in their fields. They excel at finding unique opportunities. It was eye-opening and perspective changing for all of us, kids and adults! We'll be coming back. Can't wait!!!Show moreGo Wild: American Adventures commented on this reviewThanks so much for the review! Our pleasure :) DanTrip date: November 2023
