Back in 1989, two guys from Melbourne, Australia by the names of Darrell and Manch set off on an adventure to the other side of the world. They travelled to Africa and without air conditioning on their modified truck, they filled it with supplies, some beer, a bunch of aviator sunglasses, and...

Places visited and tour leader were outstanding, particularly the homestay. However the van used for much of the extensive travelling was very uncomfortable due to insufficient legroom for most of the group. Also, 2 of the hotels used were not up to the standard expected on a "classic" trip

Hey Alistair, we're so glad you enjoyed your trip but are sorry you didn't feel the hotels were as expected. We have basix, original and comfort trips that vary in budget and travel style. Your trip is an original, where we stay on these trips ensures... Show more

Our tour guide, Valentina, was excellent. She was not only very informative, but she also made the trip an absolute hoot with her great sense of humour. The trip was also really well balanced, with the days at the archaeological sites usually followed by a relaxing day with swimming/beach options.

We appreciate that this was a fairly new tour but in its current format we wouldn't recommend it to friends. Whilst we enjoyed the tour it could easily be made much better in which case we would recommend it. Our concerns fall into 3 categories: - Locations - 2 nights in Merida is too long there's not a great deal to do or see. Possibly a night in Campeche? which would break the long journey to Calakmul. Another possibility is an additional night in Bacalar. - InclusionsIn our opinion the additional trip to Uxmal was not needed as there are plenty of temples already on the itinerary so the trip to Celestun should/could be included. In Tulum we have no idea why the ruins were not included in the tour??Cenote Azul didn't add much especially when compared to the one just outside Tulum which we did ourselves. It was no different to swimming in any other lake in the world. - Tour Guide Jasson was completely knowledgeable about all aspects of the tour and could boost this with online content and pictures from his phone. However, unlike our other Intrepid tour (Beautiful Cuba) where every day the guide discussed different topics whilst we were travelling covering all aspects of the economy, religion, politics, education, jobs etc etc Additionally any questions raised by members of the Group were answered over the loud speaker so that everyone could benefit. The fact that we're there on the tour implies that were interested to learn as much as possible about all aspects of the country. The bus for the majority of the tour was only just big enough - no spare seats and we did lots of miles!!

Good way to see a lot of the peninsula, how ever some of the accommodations weren't that great. Most of us felt the hotel in Bacalar was not very nice or sanitary. The bathrooms all had a musty smell, and there was no restaurant on site, so we had to cab it back and forth to town for food. Some of the buses were a little cramped, but it was nothing major. Overall good trip with lots of opportunities to see many of the sights.
