Itinerary
- Day 1
Paro to Thimphu
You'll land at Paro International Airport where your guide and driver will be waiting to meet you. From there, head to the National Museum, which sits inside the historic Ta Dzong watchtower and covers Bhutan's cultural heritage. Then it's a 55km drive to Thimphu (about 1.5 hours). Depending on when you arrive, you might visit the National Memorial Chorten, an important Buddhist site, and see the 169-foot tall Buddha Dordhenma Statue at Kuensel Phodrang, which overlooks the valley. You'll have some free time to walk around Thimphu town and settle in.

- Day 2
Thimphu to Punakha
After breakfast, you'll drive 14km north of Thimphu to start hiking up to Tango Monastery through forested trails. The uphill hike takes about 1.5 hours to reach this 13th-century site. Head back to town and have traditional lunch at Folk Heritage Restaurant or a similar spot. In the afternoon, check out the National Institute of Zorig Chusum where students are learning 13 traditional Bhutanese arts and crafts. Later you'll drive to Punakha valley, crossing Dochula Pass at 3,120m with views of Bhutan's highest mountains. Visit the 15th-century Chimi Lhakhang in Sopsokha village, and if there's time, see Punakha Dzong and the longest suspension bridge. By evening you'll reach a homestay in Yusakha village where you can help prepare dinner and try a traditional hot stone bath.

- Day 3
Punakha to Phobjikha Valley
Start early with breakfast, then head out for a round-trip hike to Khamsum Yuellay Namgyel Chorten, a hilltop temple with views over Punakha valley (about 3 hours total through rice fields and pine forest). After coming down, visit Punakha Dzong, the 17th-century structure with sacred paintings and woodwork, and walk across the longest suspension bridge over the Phochu river. If your group has more than 3 people, you'll have a picnic lunch by the Mochu river. Then it's a drive to Phobjikha valley in Gangtey (80km, 3 hours), a U-shaped glacial valley at 3,000m where Black Necked Cranes stay during winter months (November to March).

- Day 4
Phobjikha Valley to Paro
After an early breakfast, visit Gangtey Monastery, one of the largest in Bhutan from the 17th century, where you can offer prayers and talk with monks studying Buddhist philosophy. Then take a 5km nature hike through the woods (around 3 hours) with views of meadows, traditional houses, farmland, and streams, getting a sense of how valley residents live. You'll drive back to Paro valley (175km, 5 hours) with lunch somewhere along the way. Once you arrive in Paro, visit the 7th-century Kyichu Lhakhang, built in 659 AD by Tibetan Emperor Songtsen Gampo.

Paro
This is your day for the famous Tiger's Nest hike. You'll trek up to the 17th-century Paro Taktsang Monastery perched 800 meters above the valley (round-trip takes 4 to 5 hours for most people). Vegetarian lunch is served at the Taktsang Cafeteria halfway up the trail since no meat is allowed due to the monastery's sacred status. After descending, you'll have leisure time in Paro town. Later this evening, head to a traditional farmhouse for authentic homecooked dinner and local food. If you're interested, you can soak in a therapeutic hot stone bath.
