Hotels were very bad quality, not 3 star standard at all ; excursions not well organised and guides spoke mainly in Spanish.

I hesitate beetween okay and good score. Good overview of maya civilization, very interesting. Some of typical towns like Merida was good to discover. But too much time lost beetween steps, long time passed to travel by bus. The bus was always confortable. 3 of 4 hotels we spent one or two nights were inacceptable regarding 3 stars annonced. Some night prices around 35 euros by checking on site, so not the quality we expect for the tour price. Only Reforma hotel in Merida was typical and charming. First hotel in Cancun was in a bad quarter. Last hotel Melina in playa del Carmen was horrible, and I didn't find at all my room similar to the internet pictures, so strange, I wouldn't tell my worst enemy to sleep in that kind of place. In addition hot water is an hasardous things in the 4 hotels. Globaly for this trip, many many extra paiements. And too much similar temples we visited. Some beaches we saw are so nice and clean and safe. Mexican yucatan nature, tropical plants are very interesting. Mexican tourist workers aren't the most kind of the World. But common people are gently. To extend the trip by our own funds, we added a day in the famous xcaret Park, we recommand that because of the main great evening show about popular mexican History. For a next time to Travel , I would prefer know the hotel choices before pay.

Accommodation: hotel in Cancun Plaza Kokai 2 nights: the aircon was so terribly noisy that we had to turn it off whole night to sleep. Hotel in Merida (Reforma 2 nights) was okay due to its location. We got a leaking aircon upon check in but it was fixed afterwards. Hotel in Tulum Chilam Balam was the worst. It's smelly with lots of mosquitoes and a torn bedsheed :-). We could not sleep that night. Moreover we were dropped back to the hotel at 1pm instead of 3:30 pm like mentioned in the agenda while our bus to Playa Del Carmen is at 5pm. Where should we go under that 40 degrees weather so the hotel charged us 700 pesos for the late check out :-). It never mentioned by the tour company nor did the agent who worked with us daily. The tour: we enjoyed the Chichen Itza, Tulum Ruins and the archeological site in Merida very much. The cenote near Chichen Itza was just okay and we was hoping for a better one next day but we were disappointed. We were charged 100 pesos for a smelly, dark, full with bats cenote near the archeological site and I suggest you should not go there. The Chocolate Factory is a waste of time and you need to pay extra for that private farm visit. The tourguides in general were good, they speak English well and given the short time they tried to explain everything in both languages. We were a bit shocked the last day with the Tulum Ruins tour (the day we were charged 700 pesos more). In the agenda it mentioned we would be at the beach after Tulum Ruins and would be back at the hotel around 3:30 pm. But the tourguide said our tour ended at 11 am and we have to go to the beach by ourselves. Tour Rada staff Olivia explained that tour was free so they can cut it short :-). Very upset and disappointed because they just ruined our day. We had to spend for taxi to the beach and late check out. Despite the hot weather (we walked almost 10km everyday) we love our trip, the food, the dance and especially all the Mayan archeological sites. Luckily we decided to stay 1 more night on the beach to relax and end our trip in a greatest way possible with great food and wine. Thank you.

Whatsapp is a must. I was not aware how poorly the internet connections would be in parts of the peninsula. Each of the ADO bus stations is within a block of a supermarket, so stock up on your water/snacks there to save money. Tours buses were of the highest quality, and the subcontracted tour companies were of high quality and very professional.

The Mexico trip I did was excellent but only because of the agent Olivia who was excellent right from the beginning till the end of my Yucatán Quintana Roo trip. The schedule is not clearly explained and the hotel accommodation started off very well and depleted in standard as you came towards the end of the trip. I had to travel on my own from city to city, it was not clearly explained as I assumed I was joining a tour, but it wasn’t so. I was with a new group everytime and travelled solo! Olivia was right there, anytime of the day to answer my worries and queries and helped me out all the time. If it wasn’t for Olivia, I would have given one star, as it was very daunting for me to be in a new country and couldn’t speak Spanish.

Overall the activities during the tour were great. Loved all of them, however I would strongly advise against upgrading your accomodation. We upgraded and upon comparing things on booking.com most of the hotels we were placed in were not an upgrade and did not warrant the extra amount we paid. Communication was great throughout, the places visited were really worthwhile. Loved Merida! Would recommend this to people.

The overall enjoyment of the tour was very good. It could be improved by choosing hotels that have facilities on site to get hot drinks/basic breakfast requirements before leaving for the day. Sometimes the pick up time is very early, so to start the day with no breakfast option is not good. One of our hotels had no hot water, the others had extremely low water pressure so impossible to shower. A review of the hotels you are using would be advised as customers should be offered the option to pay more for better facilities. However they were all clean and the staff friendly. The drivers and tour guides were all very passionate and knowledgeable. Delays at times but all part of the holiday. There were some small errors in the English itinerary translation, which resulted in a wasted trip to Cancun bus station to try and buy bus tickets as advised on our first night, when we were jet lagged. Communication was good with the office and helpful when we needed assistance. Thank you for a great experience in Mexico.

I would say that my overall experience was very positive. I had a great time and I definitely do not regret the decision to choose this trip over staying at the beach resort. Tours were amazing! we had great tour guides, who also were very approachable to ask any questions about sraying in Mexico. I really loved Merida, and I'm planning to go back one day. Hotel rooms were very basic, but hotels in general were good, except one in Tulum. I would say that staying in Tulum was the only thing during the trip I was a bit disappointed with. I arrived to Tulum around 3pm, which was too late to go see Mayan city ruins (they close at 5pm), so I spent the night at the beach, which was amazing, but taxi from the city center to the beach were really overpriced. The next day I went to see ruins early in the morning and was back before the check out, but then I had 6hours to wait for my bus to Playa del Carmen... there was nothing to do in Tulum center, so I just got the ticket to the first bus to Playa. And my stay in Playa del Carmen was a great finish for my trip. Overall, great time, a lot of nice people, very nice and helpful staff. Be ready to practice your Spanish though :-) I was concerned about how safe it was to go by myself, but I really shouln't.
