Back in 1989, two guys from Melbourne, Australia by the names of Darrell and Manch set off on an adventure to the other side of the world. They travelled to Africa and without air conditioning on their modified truck, they filled it with supplies, some beer, a bunch of aviator sunglasses, and...

- Rosemary· November 20th, 2019Fernando needs to polish his presentation. I agree that everything is "amazing" but he needs to learn more about the history of the islands and to explain the flora, fauna and history in an interesting way. The information about the role of the Galapagos during WWII and the story of the Countess of Floreana was unintelligible. Of course, people come for the wild life but on a walk of two+ hours, it would be nice to have a break from "Here is a blue footed booby. Isn't it amazing." He has not yet developed a talent for "reading" his audience. I appreciated having a briefing about the next day's activities but, at the end of a long day, the briefing really needs to be brief. He needs to develop some patter. The time spent in the towns was too long. There is nothing to do there. Guests should be allowed to return to the boat to enjoy the upper deck. The bathroom in cabin 8 could have been cleaner--especially uninviting was the plastic cup which was dirty. I would have apprecaited more rails in the room. On the plus side, the crew was friendly and uniformly helpful. I felt that the dinghy drivers were were safety conscious especially during the snorkeling. Fernando takes his job very seriously. I just think he needs some mentoring. I do think this is a very strenuos tour. And that the Is this trip right for you? should include information that there are usually two walks per day and that the walks can be as long as 2.5 hours on rough terrain. The walks were far more strenous than getting in and out of the dinghy. Fernando was very good about rating the walks for difficulty and urging some of us to use walking sticks.Show moreIntrepid Travel commented on this reviewHi Rosemary, thank you for your feedback about the Leader and the trip itself. - PWPaula· September 20th, 2019This trip was everything and more than I hoped for. Apart from some problems with Avianca airline which is out of Intrepid’s control, the trip ran smoothly and covered all the things it said it would. The scenery and wildlife were spectacular, the crew were very professional and the food was in abundance. Nothing seemed to be a problem to them. My cabin had one bed light not working that I reported and also the toilet seat was very loose making it interesting in rough seas! and there was a broken handle which had been hidden in the drawer none of which was an issue as I was lucky enough to have the cabin to myself. I would query the location of the hotel accommodation and ask why it is not closer to the historical town? EVERYTHING else was just perfect- really!Show moreTrip date: September 2019
- Dave· February 10th, 20197.5 days on the boat was just about the right amount of time. You do not want to do a shorter trip.Trip date: January 2019
- JHJutta· February 8th, 2019Overall an excellent trip. The start and end in Quito is well organized, but the trip really starts upon arrival in Baltra. The Daphne is small but comfortable and the crew outstanding. One of the low points is San Christobal where a longer stay than necessary is needed due to the pick up of new guests. The sorkling trips were highlights and missed on the San Christobal day.Show moreTrip date: January 2019
- LBLois· December 7th, 2018We had a great time, although our boat was delayed, the company provided an another luxury yatch to take us out touring. Once we boarded Daphne, we we were treated very well, Jacinto was an amazing guide, he took time with each and every passenger giving them his full attention, nobody was left behind, snorkeling was amazing, sea lions and seals came and played our guide knew just where the most exotic wildlife was hiding, on return to the boat the chef had hot chocolate and home made snacks ready for us. I would recommend this trip to any one considering a trip to Galapogos.Show moreTrip date: November 2018
- CPChristina· August 27th, 2018Overall I enjoyed to tour very much and learned a lot. The itinerary was a bit confusing at times - there were some things Intrepid hadn't updated or changed and some passengers weren't very pleased about it. Meals and accommodations were great, guide was knowledgeable and made it interesting. I would recommend to a friend. Christina PatrickShow moreTrip date: August 2018
- SSarah· January 15th, 2018Amazing trip and amazing destination. I did 10 day Galapagos Boat trip. The boat was comfortable and group size of 16 pax was perfect. We saw pretty much everything we had hoped for and more. Plenty of great snorkelling too. Good paced trip.Trip date: March 2017
