Our family of five had a wonderful trip to the Amalfi Coast thanks to our guide, Mary and driver, Angelo! Mary provided us with such great information and history of the area- and pointed out important structures along the way. She knew all the best places to stop for the ideal photos. We even stopped at a lovely fruit stand run by such a nice gentleman who made us the most wonderful freshly squeezed fruit juice!!  The entire ride to and from Amalfi was so entertaining and enjoyable because of this Tui team, I forgot to be nervous about the winding cliffside road. Angelo, was such a great and safe driver! It really was a crazy & winding road but Angelo drove so well -handling the curvy roads, the traffic and stop offs for photos so professionally - that I wasn’t nervous at all!  When we arrived in Amalfi we had only a short amount of time to stay. Mary took us into town, helpfully explained more of its history pointing to the highlights and showed us the best olive oil and balsamic vinegar store! She really saved us so much time by listening to what we all wanted to see in such a short amount of time-I truly appreciate how she listened and catered to us!  There was one mishap that happened while we were there which delayed this wonderful Tui team in getting back on time and so I greatly apologize for that since it was my fault. Mary worked very hard to help me with a difficult situation that I got myself into with a store owner. Mary could have looked at her watch and said that we have to go now and not to worry but she wanted to help resolve the situation. She communicated professionally with the store owner since I was unable to speak in the language and attempted to resolve the misunderstanding. I want to thank Mary for what she did and also for going the extra mile for a customer. And again I want to apologize for keeping her and Angelo an extra hour later- when they should have been done with our tour already and been back home to their own families! And I also want to mention that I can just imagine that Angelo was also inconvenienced because of my situation and was probably trying to figure out where to park or drive in that busy Amalfi area while we were delayed! Again- so very sorry about that! Mary and Angelo were such a great tour team and we were so blessed that day to have them! We hope that everyone can have such a great experience as we did that day- we will have such good memories of our day in Amalfi because of them. Thank you!   Sincerely, Jenny McKeigue

The quality of the Splendid tour was good overall (excellent in parts). The hotels in Sorrento and Amalfi were excellent except for some small deficiencies (the bathroom door would not close properly in the Sorrento Vesuvio hotel and the air conditioning in the Amalfi Residence hotel was not great). We particularly appreciated the location of the Amalfi hotel which is right on the water front thereby avoiding climbing steps for my wife who has a bad knee. The quality of the tour guides was generally good except for the Pompeii guide who was lacklustre in his attitude and commitment. He omitted showing us some key areas in the city including the House of Faun and the Brothel. The guide on our boat trip to Capri was very enthusiastic and helpful. The transportation system worked smoothly and was timely. The driver from Naples to Sorrento was excellent and provided a running commentary (with simultaneous google translation from Italian to English on his phone) on the sights as we drove to Sorrento. Overall the tour was enjoyable and well organized but the average $800/day cost (after discount) for a fairly bare bones itinerary appears to be expensive even allowing for the good hotels. Regarding the trip to Cinque Terre, the hotel in Monterosso (Cinque Terre hotel) had very good location but definitely was not 4 star level (the quality of the included breakfast was poor). The 3 day Cinque Terre card worked very well. The hotel in Rome on our way to Naples (Hotel Priam) was more upscale than the hotel on our way back from Naples (Hotel Ariston) although both were clearly in the 3 star or less rating level.

Overall this was a lovely holiday. The car and hotels were of a high standard. Some more information about how to use tolls would have been helpful. The hotel in Stresa was excellent and in a great location. The holiday at Lake Garda was lovely but not in a great location as it took much longer to get to Verona as we were a way up the west side of the lake. Overall other than the crowds of people everywhere it was a well organised and great holiday
