This was a great tour showcasing so many of the wonderful sights of Romania. Highlights were the steam train trip, the painted monasteries and the Danube delta. Horea was an excellent guide, adding in a couple of surprises along the way!

I had a great experience. Active Travel was very hands on and picked great sites to visit (historical and food). My guide's name was Charlie and he was awesome. He was very knowledgeable, professional, polite, and overall caring about the experience. He was willing to accommodate everyone. Again I had a great experience and would recommend this tour.

We had a wonderful experience. We had a great guide whose passion for the mountains and the people was infectious. The guesthouses were great with the owners going out of their way to give us the best possible experience.

The tour was well organised. The agency provided comfortable car and well appointed hotels. Triana is a wonderful guide, showing us Romanian culture and food. We found the lodge and the home-cooked lunch experience very special.

We have just completed our tour of Romania and Bulgaria and found it to be excellent. The booking procedure was straightforward and well executed from start to finish and the tour itself with Adrian, our guide and driver exceeded our expectations.

The destinations are great, however perhaps because of the higher number of people in the group, time stretched, from hotel check-ins, to meals. As a result, time was taken off on sightseeing.

Great itinerary. The hotels were all in good locations and comfortable. Really enjoyed the local guides and learning of the history of Romania and Transylvania.

Our guide in Bulgaria, Stoyan, was superb. So knowledgeable, interesting, thoughtful, considerate and patient. We loved the itinerary and the accommodation was excellent - always clean and in central locations. Communications from Head Office were much appreciated. Thanks for a wonderful time!

My husband and I had a lovely trip. David our guide was lovely and fulfilled all our requests. Even though it was supposed to be a small group tour, my husband and I were lucky enough to be the only ones in the tour. The hotels provided were clean & comfortable. We did pay extra to upgrade to a better room in the hotel in Brasov, as it was too small and we felt cramped. This is the second time we have used Tourradar, and we happy with our trip 😊

The itinerary, accommodation, food and guides were all well chosen by Visit Transilvania Travel. The guides in particular were very accommodating and gave us all the details on history and culture of the sites we visited as well as the wider human context. We would have missed so much had we visited the same sites on our own, even with a guide book. The richer experience helped overcome the exceptionally hot summer and long car journeys between sites.

Bogdan was a fantastic tour guide! He was very attentive to our needs, and was very knowledgeable about Romanian history. You will definitely learn a lot on this tour! It was well planned out, and the locations were all unique. Sighisoara was straight out of a movie, and we enjoyed having some free time there. I’d highly recommend this tour to anyone, and I can assure that you will come as a tourist, and leave as a friend.

Fabulous tour showcasing local artisans and gems of historical interest. Guest house stays wonderful. Highlights Desesti Church, Sighisoara and fortified towns of Biertan and Viscri. Bear watching in national park awesome. Alina, an excellent guide, willing to accommodate our group's extra requests.

This was a brilliant trip, the scenery was beautiful, the group leader was full of good stories, the accommodation was gorgeous, the food was delicious and the hosts were extremely welcoming. What was the most inspirational moment of your trip? Having arrived in the dark, waking up on the first morning and stepping out on to our lovely balcony to admire the sun rising over the stunning mountains covered in a thick layer of fresh snow! Breathtaking!Also seeing bears in the wild - it was amazing to be that close to them - although slightly un-nerving too! What did you think of your group leader? Udo our group leader was great fun.  Full of stories and information of the history, flora, fauna, the people and the place. Do you have any advice for potential travellers? Don't go expecting to see wildlife, accept that wildlife is elusive and that any sightings are a bonus.  The trip notes do give the impression that seeing wolves and beavers is possibly more likely than it is.  We were lucky seeing 5 bears at the hide and the splash of a beaver going into the water, but I think expectations were raised a little high.  The scenery, people and more easily spotted flora and fauna made this trip excellent. Is there anything else you would like to add? This is a great trip and I would really recommend it.  An excellent mix of walking in stunning scenery, fantastic culture, fabulous people and amazing wildlife.

I had three days with other guests and then two more where I was all alone. The accommodation was a spacious and friendly guest house. Andrei and Irene are the best hosts and I felt that they had become friends. Andrei took touching care of me, even when I was the only one, and also showed me historical sights on the days when it would have been inconvenient to go on the water. He knows the area like the back of his hand, knows where to find the different bird species, and in the evenings we discussed together what we had seen during the day. For the photographers he had useful tips to get the best shots, because he is also an expert here. Breakfast is simple - Romanesque style - and for lunch and dinner we had fish of all varieties, plus the occasional homemade liquor and delicious brownies. The whole experience was genuine and unadulterated and it was an honor to get such a glimpse into their way of life. The journey (by bus from Bucharest - 4 hours for 120 LEI) went smoothly and Andrei picked me up from the bus station in Tulcea for the half hour journey to Mahmudia. I highly recommend this trip for anyone who wants to see - and photograph - the exuberant birdlife of the Danube Delta.

Great experience, guide Andrei was knowledgable, enthusiastic, friendly, and professional. He went out of his way to ensure that our group of 4 had an enjoyable and satisfactory experience. Accomodations were terrific, as were the home-cooked meals that were included. Would recommend!

Our guide was very knowledgeable and took us too many wonderful sights, some of which would be hard to find on our own. He was very responsive to our needs as older travelers and exceedingly helpful when my wife was injured and required emergency medical help in Romania and also Moldova. My wife felt that he treated her as if he was helping his own mother - so we give him (Nicolas Miriou and his associates) the highest possible recommendation!!!
