Our guide Jonathan was amazing. He managed to bridge several gaps left by the tour company. We only received about 25% of the communication from the tour company. It ended up costing us our tickets to Macchu Picchu. But our guide was able to get us to the government office to buy additional tickets that should have been included in the tour price. Additionally, it was not made clear that our luggage would NOT be transported to the next hotel. We were supposed to carry our belongings on the 7 hour hike and the 6 mile hike. Fortunately, our guide arranged for our luggage to be transported to the next hotel (for an additional cost). That should have been included in the tour price. It is ridiculous to expect luggage (or backpacks) to be carried on these long hikes through the jungle. Another critical item they failed to mention is that while hotels provide toilet paper no other locations have toilet paper and you should carry your own. Carry hand sanitizer as well. It also should have been made clear that this is still basically a cash country and small denomination bills should be carried. I really felt ill prepared on the expectations fortunately our guide was well prepared as if this was not the first time these shortfalls had occurred.
- by JILL BRUSEI did the 7-day adventure. This one is worth it! It was amazing, everything was taken care of. It was nice to go to another country and have someone who already had great hotels and hostels vetted. Every place we stayed was clean and had my own room and bathroom. Packing tips: Bring a 28L bag - When you start mountain biking you have to carry everything on the hikes. That is 4 days. What I brought. -Lots of small amounts of Sols. Some places only take Sols and can’t break 50 or 100 Sols. The first hotel converted USD to Sols for me. -Swimsuit -Good bug spray -I brought a water filter and wish I brought a hydration pack (ended up just refilling the plastic bottles I bought every night by filtering the tap water) -Clothes are difficult to predict so layers. Other helpful hints you have to ask months in advance to do huayna picchu. It is worth it but time was tight. I think the average time is 2.5 hours to do. Plus you have to get yourself back to the train which is 1.5 hour hike down or the bus which is took us 45 minutes to get tickets, line, and ride down. For reference our huayna picchu entrance was at 10AM and we had to be at the bus station at 2 PM. It also is worth maybe taking an extra day or two independently or spending a couple of days in Lima. Make sure your travel insurance covers the activities you will do. Overall, I highly recommend this tour. Everything was great! You get a lot in this package.

This trip was an exciting adventure! Our family, my husband, and our 3 adult children hiked, biked, rafted, and explored Peru. The four-day tour was perfect for our 10-day trip. Our guide Vincent from Trexperience was knowledgeable, safe, energetic, and positive. He guided us every step and made our experience fun and educational.
- by Dina KunkleSuch an active tour and so much fun. Our guide, Roger was the best. Would recommend to anyone.

We booked this trip quite long in advance because we were looking to do something that was not just a plain hike but included a lot of once-in-a-lifetime activities. This absolutely did that. Arriving in Cusco we stayed at Milhouse hostel (brilliant) and had a very informative pre-departure meeting the night before we left on our trek. We were 5 people and a guide which made it really wonderful and personal. The guide was able to give us all such great information. THE GUIDE Percy is probably the best guide in Peru :) His knowledge of the local culture and mountains and jungle are amaaazing. He grew up in Machu Picchu/ Aguas Calientes. You cannot ask for anyone better. He had such a great skill for always taking into account where our stamina levels were and what we were up for. THE ACTIVITIES Riding a bike for about 50km down a winding mountain road sounded like the least "scary" of all our activities but I have to say it was quite hectic for me. A bit scary but in a good way. The views are stunning and its an amazing experience but please be safe on those roads. We could not do the white water rafting unfortunately since the river was too high. I really appreciated the company being honest and rather cancelling an activity (and refunding us) rather than doing something which is not safe. The zip lining was amaaaaaazing. I read some pretty scary reviews before the time but this was wonderful. We felt 1000% safe. No crowds, no long lines, no time waiting around between zip lines. The suspension bridge was such a thrill as well. The hot springs were absolutely wonderful. Such a special place with the clearest water and spectacular views. Sitting around afterwards gazing at the mountains and enjoying a few cervezas was one of the highlights of our week. THE ACCOMMODATION They prepare you for "no Wi-Fi and almost no hot water." We had fantastic Wi-Fi every night at our hostels and great hot showers. The rooms are clean and mostly very spacious. The staff is absolutely wonderful. Accommodation was way above our expectations. THE FOOD The food was great. Mostly 3 course meals in local restaurants which feels like you are eating in a long-lost family member's dining room. Always enough bread, generally followed by a delicious soup, a main and sometimes a dessert. Accompanied by juice and coca leaf tea. Beer and softdrinks for your own account. THE GUIDE Did I mention how awesome our guide was. MACHU PICCHU Our last day on Machu Picchu was exactly worth all the hype. That place is amazing. Mind boggling. Great views. Amazing history. So much mystery and ambience. MY TOP TIPS 1. Mosquito repellent. Tons of it. Our guide warned us before the time and our group did not have more than a few bites but we passed other groups who were pretty much walking around as mosquito-buffets. 2. Sunscreen. Wear it. Lots of it. Tons of it. 3. Pack light. Our backpacks were too heavy because I didn't listen ;) Don't do it to yourself. Pack light and then take out a few more things. 4. Learn all you can. Eat local. Drink the local beer. Walk around in the local markets. Ask tons of questions. Learn a bit of Spanish so you can great people, thank people and ask a few basic questions. (Where? How much? How many?) FINALLY The hiking on the 2nd day was a bit tougher than we expected but other than that the physical impact is really not hectic. Do this trek if you want to see Peru from a whole new perspective.
- by Susan MaraisThe Jungle Trek was completely incredible. Arguably this is a better way to reach the Machu Picchu point and it’s nothing I could have imagined! There was mountain biking, rafting, zip lining it was a lot of fun. Every detail was taken care of. Fortunately the groups were small, so we were able to enjoy the trail in a better way. The other companies have more than 15 people so it’s less friendly. Our guide was top level. He is a kind person, also very funny! Thank you and keep up the great work!

It was an amazing experience from beginning to end. Our tour guide, Guillermo, was very knowledgeable and fun and made our experience wonderful, especially since we took the adventure tour and are over 50 and not athletes. He was great at sharing his knowledge of the indigenous groups that lived throughout the different locations we visited throughout our travels. My husband and I highly recommend this tour if you are into interacting with nature and want to do more than just trek through the Inca path, We biked through the mountain area and got to see the landscape of lush trees and mountains. We the zip-line, which allowed us to soar through an open valley of trees and open sky. We also tried our hand at rafting, which was fun but required a bit of concentration since the river currents were strong and fast-moving. And, of course, we trekked through the Inca trail, which was magnificent, physically challenging, and a tad scary but worth every step. I do recommend if you are trekking, to look for power drinks like Gatorade, which help replenish the loss of electrolytes. Hydration is essential, especially around mid-day or when you are sweating excessively. In addition to the tour, the places we stayed at were beautiful and perfect for recharging ourselves. In truth, we rested each evening so well that the next day, I barely felt any discomfort or fatique; when I did get tired, it was usually due to dehydration and not from poor rest.
- by ROSA CASTROOur tour guide Wilbert was absolutely amazing and made this tour 100% better. He knew everything and was able to answer any questions we had. During our mountain hike, we passed by many different plants, some we had never seen before. He knew all their uses, modern and ancient, and their history! He was very accommodating any time we had a problem. During any breaks we had, he would tell us stories about the Inca and about his history. He gave the tour a very personal feel that I know we all appreciated. In the end, all I can say was this was an absolutely amazing tour and Wilbert was an amazing guide!

Let me start by explaining how David went above and beyond to get permits for our trip in the last minute. We called Andean path travel via WhatsApp, one day before of our trip to check if he can accommodate us. He did some magic and got permits for next day. It’s just unbelievable. We did the 2 day short Inca Trail and David was beyond exceptional. His English was excellent, his local knowledge from being from a near by town meant we got a very personal history tour, not only about the Incas, but the local fauna and Flora. His passion was admirable. David made the experience perfect for someone who wants to hike and learn about the history! It was definitely a trip of a lifetime. I highly recommend!
- by Srikanth MajjiHad a fantastic time. It was harder than we thought. Our guide was very knowledgeable, experienced and overall very kind. I suffered a bit Altitude sickness. I was looked after and completed the trek. My 14 year old son completed the trek with great encouragement from Edy our guide. We loved his stories from his culture, enjoyed the food and the team who looked after us were great. The scenery was spectacular and will be an experience we won't forget. Thankyou to the great people that we traveled with and Tourradar / Andean Path Travel!
