A fabulous introduction to Southern Africa ! So much wildlife and scenery. A note re tents : there’s a lot of them so be prepared

This was a tour that packed a lot in. There was a lot of travelling and long days on the truck but the game viewing was worth it eg lions, a leopard, hippos, zebra, etc. Our guide was great, totally unflappable but more information regarding the day’s itinerary would have helped so we could plan what to eat for lunch, what to wear and when to charge camera batteries etc. But that’s only a minor gripe. The camping was better than expected, with no mosquitos or other creepy crawlies. The camp beds were too big for the tents and it was difficult to zip them up but Karabo, our guide, arranged to have the bed frames cut down slightly which helped a bit. Not sure why Intrepid didn’t test them out first! The food was great, with only one meal not to my taste (oxtail stew). the trip was, overall, a brilliant experience which has given me a taste for more of Africa’s wildlife.

We had a wonderful time on the 9 day Okawanda. Delta tour which was locally organized by Lochinivar tours. We had a wonderful and experience tour operator named Mark Hampande who took care of us until the tour ended. He is very knowledgeable in every aspect of the this tour and had a wonderful team under him. We were fortunate to have drivers and tour guides who were experienced in what ever they were assigned to do. The draw backs were, one incident a driver turned up over an hour late and we were deprived of seeing many animals as we planned on going early morning. Should have more vegetarian options and also there was no seafood available although it was in the menu. The Safari Tour was good value for money compared to other companies but we found a considerable number of improvements that could be implemented: - the 10 day Safari we BOOKED and PAID for was altered to a 9 day by Lochinvar Safaris - notification of the change was not given until a few days after we had paid the full amount (and flights booked). There was approximately A$200 pp price difference between the tours which was not refunded. - Zimbabwe was completely taken out of the itinerary - the bush camp at Moremi was taken out of the itinerary which denied us of the opportunity to experience the bush in the evening - Gazetted accomodation at Wild View Resort, Chobe x2 was changed to a hotel in town overlooking a shopping centre car park! - We were informed the hotel had been booked by the Government for a conference and we had been 'bumped out' - After our refusal at taking the carpark hotel and a strong request to be taken to Wild View Resort only to find it almost empty! - After a convoluted story by Mark we ended up paying for the Hotel on my credit card. The funds were eventually extracted from Mark before the end of the tour - Problems with Mark's motor vehicle at the Botswana/Zambian border necessitated him borrowing US$100 from another member of the group and a one and a half hour delay (OK it's Africa, but!) On a very positive note the support staff and contractors made every effort to make our journey as comfortable as possible and can be complimented on their success. This trip was awesome ..the experiences were wonderful but, I cannot express how much this was also due to Brian and Jo Jo, who with their eagle eyes, amazing knowledge, brilliant cooking and desire to go above and beyond what was expected, ensured we had the best experience. I am looking forward to coming back and doing another trip. Well done Sunway you have 2 amazing and absolute gentlemen working for you.

We had a very nice safari. It was a nice variation of game drive, boatcruise, sunset cruise, flats of the saltpans, lodges, campsite with small tents, campsite with larger tent (room with bathroom), overnight under the stars on an outdoor matras without a tent, etc. Our driver/guide Shakes was super great. He took good care of us and we had very interesting conversations on the road. The food was also good. The only negative thing was that we didn't get a transfers at the start and the end of the safari. Little Roz asked us to go to the first lodge ourselves and the same at the end, which we had to pay for ourselves. And we didn't get the breakfast the last 2 days, so we had to pay for that as well But all together

We had a wonderful time! Rocky, Jimmy, and Simba were excellent as drivers, guides, cooks, and problem solvers. We ate very well indeed. I will comment that the tour we took was quite different from the stated description of it. For example, we did not go to the salt pan. It seems that Rocky, the boss of the crew, received a different itinerary than what we thought we would be doing. How did that happen? The places we did go were terrific, and it was not until the second last day of the trip, that we realised the discrepancy. Rocky offered us a way to go to the salt pan, but for a couple of reasons, we declined that offer. Please note that I am not complaining about Rocky, Jimmy, and Simba. They followed the information they had received. I will also say that while we were accepting of the situation, some people could have reacted differently, and that would not have been fair to our crew. To summarise, we loved the trip! This was a brilliant trip!! Our tourguide Nonki was superb. Her driving was brilliant, her knowledge was great and she was very organised and made our trip a great success!! There was alot of travelling between some accommodation but it meant that we got to see an authentic view of Botswana and what it has to offer! All accommodation was great. Some accommodation was more basic than others but that was what made this holiday feel more like an adventure!! If there was anything that wasn't as desired everybody strived to make any improvements were necessary!!! Wildlife, scenery, food, accommodation and the tour guides and hotel personnell were all impressive. Highly recommend this trip for anyone who wants a little adventure to see the incredible Botswana. Amazing guide who was very knowledgeable, professional and made sure that everyone's needs were looked after. Well planned itinerary - highly recommend!

Vorab, toller Giude, tolles Team, tolle Lodge. Allerdings muss ich 2 Einschränkungen machen. Am ersten Tag musse die Mokoro-Fahrt ausfallen, da kein Wasser im Fluss war. Da kann zwar keiner etwas dafür, aber uns wurde als Erstz nichts weiteres angeboten und uns selbst überlassen. Dafür habe ich nicht bezahlt. Die anderen Tagen entsprachen die Aktivitäten ihren Beschreibungen. Anpassen sollten sie in Ihrer Beschreibung, dass es z.B. am Abend am Lagerfeuer nur ein Glas Wein gibt, wenn man ihn selbst mitbringt oder dass das Team traditionelle Geschichten erzaählt oder in Tanz und Gesang ausbrechen. Dazu ist das Team, das wirklich gute Leistung gezeigt hat, zu sehr müde - verständlich. Sie wecken aber Erwartungen in Ihrer Beschreibung, die so nicht erfüllt wurden. Ich möchte aber nochmals ausdrücklich betonen, dass es nicht am Giude (sehr erfahren und sypatisch), nicht an der Köchin (sie versteht ihr Handwerk) und nicht am Helfer (sehr fleißiger Mann) lag.

Amazing place and service, everything was excellent! Our tour guide was super knowledgable and friendly and we were able to see so many different animals in our safari. And at nights the lodge was superb to wind down and with delicious food!

The Absolute Africa 6 day safari was quite an adventure. My wife and I were, to be honest, a little daunted by the prospect of camping and bush camping but due to the efforts of guide Joe, driver Emmaus(EMI) and especially a very welcoming group of travellers, despite our ages of 61 and 66, we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The tents were durable and easy to erect, the sleeping mats reasonably comfortable and the briefings each night informative. Chobe NP and the Okavango Delta were clear highlights with game drives and cruises providing excellent opportunities to observe the abundant wildlife. The mokoro trips in the delta were an absolute highlight. Big 5 and ‘Pretty 5’ all spotted repeatedly. We believe there should have been more insight offered to the nature of the safari in terms of joining a group briefly who had already been travelling together for 50+ days and whilst it was made clear we would be helping with meals, packing etc. it was not clear in our package we would be actually shopping, cooking, cleaning the bus, packing, doing ‘security’ etc. and a cook would have been an important and welcome addition. To be fair to our crew the groups functioned really efficiently, we have heard that is not always the case. We also believe the group size was too large for best outcomes. In short, due to the personnel and the itinerary, it was a terrific and memorable safari.
