Our top itineraries for an unforgettable week in Ireland

We've picked two of the best itineraries that will take you through Ireland's most popular destinations in one week. They’re perfect for the first-time traveller, covering everything from the Ring of Kerry to Dublin’s most famous sights.

ITINERARY 1

  • Dublin - See the statue-lined O’Connell Street, elegant Georgian squares with their tall red-brick townhouses, colourful doors and wrought iron-decorated windows, Oscar Wilde’s Trinity College, and St. Patrick’s Cathedral.
  • Cliffs of Moher - Savour the breathtaking panorama of the Clare coast.
  • Ring of Kerry - There is plenty to focus your camera on here: sparkling seascapes, mountains dotted with brightly-coloured farmhouses, winding lanes bordered with subtropical vegetation, and the breathtaking panorama of the Lakes of Killarney from Ladies View.
  • Blarney - This picturesque village is home to a medieval fortress and the famous Blarney Stone, which — according to Irish folklore — imparts the ‘gift of the gab’ to anyone who kisses it.
  • Kilkenny - Discover the town, visit the castle, and explore the Kilkenny Design Centre, or simply wander through the city’s charming streets.

  • Limerick - View the 13th-century King John's Castle overlooking the Shannon, St. Mary's Cathedral and the Treaty Stone.
  • Ring of Kerry - See Daniel O'Connell's Cahirciveen, the coastal village of Waterville, Moll's Gap and the Black Valley, renowned for being the last place in Ireland without electricity and telephone networks.
  • New Ross - See the monument to John F. Kennedy who travelled to his ancestral family hometown in 1963. Then, visit the three-masted famine ship, Dunbrody, to gain insights into the tragic plight of the Irish emigrants who fled the famine during the 1800s.
