- BHBriar· September 10th, 2023Amazing tour, I’m definitely going to recommend to all my friends! Well organised events and transport to and from events was wonderful as well! The tour guide (Bomber) was amazing, gave a lot of useful information and tips about the event and was great fun too! It was a wonderful idea to have a party at the site in Buñol since we have a few hours there before the festival and its great they have lockers you can leave essential items you don’t want covered in tomatoes! The food and drinks were delicious and music was amazing, really set the mood for the day! The festival itself was so much fun, we had a great time and I’ve told all my friends they have to go next year! Some tips for future visitors are to definitely get some goggles (I have glasses and so I bought a pair of snorkeling goggles to protect them and they worked well), saw some people wiping tomato sauce out of their eyes. The phone protectors they sell on the day work well to keep your phone safe and it’s worth it to have pictures of the event! A hat works well to protect your hair from the tomatoes and helps with washing off after. And when picking your spot along the street during the festival make sure you’re not too far downhill as the tomatoes turned into a river towards the end! After the festival you’re definitely hungry and thirsty and so being able to head back to the party site for some paella (after washing off in the river) was wonderful! Overall an amazing day, and it’s definitely making my list of top trips and festivals!Show morePP Travel commented on this reviewThanks very much Briar. - Cheryl's· September 20th, 2022This is an unusual adventure to say the least. We had a great time, amazing how so many people can have a food fight and not 1 person got out of line. Very very crowded, so have to be careful if you get claustrophobia. Otherwise do it at least 1 time in your life. This travel group made it easy and seamless to get there and back.Show moreTrip date: August 2022
- AMAndy· September 19th, 2022Before heading to La Tomatina, I wondered if the festival was worth the hype. Having attended La Tomatina, it was definitely the bucket list item I imagined for so many years. La Tomatina was also a great "Covid-19 pandemic ending" experience! I felt the day trip with PP Travel via Tour Radar was overpriced (129 EUR ) for what was provided, mainly transportation from Valencia to Bunol. As a solo traveller, I initially attempted to book the 3-star two-night hotel option to meet other travelers, but my booking couldn't be processed by Tour Radar's website (i.e. my Canadian credit card couldn't be processed because I was traveling in Asia). I wanted to have a shared experience so I went ahead with the high-cost day trip. If you put yourself out there, the pre and post-party were good for meeting other travellers but I was expecting at least a complimentary welcome drink. On the day of La Tomatina, we were given a history of the event on the bus, and provided instructions on where to go once the bus arrived. It was a long walk down into Bunol (which is in a valley) from the bus parking. It turns out you could take the train (Renfe) from Valencia to Bunol (close to the bus parking). We were informed by our guide to follow a blue line on the road for the pre-event. On arrival at the end of the blue line, it seem like we were piggybacking on another company's event where everyone had blue shirts. Drinks (beer and sangria) were available for purchase at the pre-event. Since we did not have blue or any colour shirts (which would have been nice given the high price paid), we were approached by one of the event leaders about not belonging there. We were allowed to stay until everyone moved to the Tomato tossing street. Buying a few sangrias on arrival, wearing a bathing suit, an old pair of old shoes (flip flops/thongs are not advisable) and a beach vest/tank top worked out extremely well. Googles are not needed but a waterproof action camera is good idea to capture the experience. As you walk through tomato street to the ham pole, locals splash you with water, then after an hour, the tomato trucks pass slowly and the fight begins. The tomato tossing itself was an amazing once-in-a-lifetime experience! When asked by friends and colleagues, I described La Tomatina like the scene in the Matrix where everyone is partying in a cave in Zion. You're basically in close but comfortable proximity, soaked in water, sloshing around in tomato juice, and having a great time! After all the trucks pass, there are several inches or about 15 cm of tomato juice on the grown and all over your body. The locals spray you off, then you gradually make your way back up the hill/out of the valley to the bus parking for drop-off in Valencia. The pre-party was held at a nicer club next to the beautiful science museum while the afterparty was held at an average club on the outskirts of town in an industrial/warehouse section of Valencia. Drinks were available after purchasing tickets, at typical nightclub prices.Show moreTrip date: July 2022
- Elizabeth· September 18th, 2022If you arrive in Valencia early enough, you can taking full advantage of the day tour pass. I arrived the day before the actual event, and had access to the per party (free before midnight), which for a solo traveller is a nice way meet other people who will be going to the event. We were told the history of the event by our tour guide, who was really nice & friendly. We were told which direction to signs to follow, we were told to follow a blue line that would lead us to a place that was close to the event where we could get some drinks and food if we wanted, however when we got there it was obvious that we were kind of piggybacking off of another companies event, and weren’t to be there, we kind of heard an run in with the leader of the event, and there was a moment where we thought we were gonna get kicked out, but he let us stay. The event itself was amazing a once-in-a-lifetime experience, I would hundred percent recommend, even though I lost my ring (I know shouldn’t have worn it, forgot it was on) but in comparison to those who lost their phones, action cameras et cetera I guess I got off quite lightly. We also had access to the post party however, we had to pay for that, I personally think that it should’ve been included in our price ticket, again I feel like this was the other companies event that we just had access to, and for that reason I feel like for what we got, it was a little bit overpriced, whether they paid more, less, or even the same, the other company seem to have access to everything, whilst we had access to certain things, and it made me wonder how much did everything come to in the end. Last thing: with a day tour pass, you’re not given a La Tomatina T-shirt, I thought you were so I didn’t buy one of the event, and I kind of wished I bought one of the there as a souvenir as there weren’t many souvenirs in the area.Show moreTrip date: August 2022
- Ziad· August 29th, 2019Everything was well organised and exactly as expected. Just make sure to read the instructions, listen to the guides, be prepared, show up on time and come with an open mind and you'll have a lot fun! Also the 2 parties were really amazing. Very recommended.Show moreTrip date: August 2019
