- NMNaramena· April 12th, 2024The tour started with my arrival to the departure point at 6:30am where I waited for nearly an hour. The guide finally came down, and informed be that the tour wouldn't leave until 10am. I then learned that I was joining to an existing tour which was enroute starting a couple of weeks prior. They seemed displeased at the addition of another traveler, and did not speak English (there was a German translator for them). This was an awkward dynamic. The guide was easy to engage with, but had a negative energy about him. Every time I would point out something beautiful he would counter it with a disappointing retort. It was unfortunately raining most of our trip, and he would proudly announce the cancelations of daily activities and with cheer he would list off all the animals we wouldn't see due to us being around during the wrong season. He hardly did any guiding, the facts were mostly about things we had already passed so it was hard to make any association or learn. The guide, the cook and the translator all had attitudes. Often questions were answered with an angsty undertone. I don't blame the staff, I blame the company. These people are on the road for weeks on end with little breaks. My other issues were with the package itself. I paid over $800 for a 6 day tour. I paid this price to avoid the complex task of planning activities on holiday. On the tour there were hardly any activities, and most of the ones we did have were canceled due to rain. I realize rain is out of our control, but there should be back up activities in this case...there are plenty of tourist attractions. So in the end due to the weather it felt more like I paid for travel from point A to point B with some mediocre accommodation in between. Mind you, the price wasn't to include accommodation at all, it was suppose to be a tent supplied only (no sleeping bag etc). But due to the rain I had to pay for a shared hostel room for two nights and the guide helped to negotiate a free room at another place for another night. The remaining nights did have accommodation included.Show moreTrip date: April 2024
