The beginning... bamba started operating with a hop-on hop-off bus service. After trial and error, bamba realised that travellers were very interested in not only being around other backpackers and meeting them, but they also wanted to have the opportunity to travel in local transportation, and...

- LesleyPaul· June 26th, 2019I signed up to Bamba for a weeks worth of activities and even though it was quote pricey, it was well worth it. To have it all pre paid, with the activities I wanted was great and worth anyone wanting to pre book their Inca trail as I met so many people forced to do big hikes because the Inca was sold out when they got to cusco. Bamba itself had a few ups and downs, but throughout my week was really accommodating and helpful and was there to answer any question! I'll start with the few downs I had before going into the positives... firstly I would reccomend getting a sim if you're flying into cusco because I couldnt find my driver at the airport to had to call them (she was there but was "calling my name" rather than having it on a board which was strange) and 4 others that I met that had booked with bamba said they had the same problem and had to get someone in the airport to call. Also, the office is really difficult to find and doesn't have a sign outside on the main street. We suggested it would be helpful for others to get this as it was quite difficult to find and scary in the f dark wandering up all these random flats as it's ontthe second floor! But once you find it and you're in then the office is lovely, very welcoming and relaxing with lots of comfortable sitting areas and friendly staff! (Also ask about your free massage after the trek! There is a secret beautiful relax room off the office and the massage was so good I booked in for a full body the next day!!) In my trip I done the quad biking, 2 day/1 night Inca trek ans the 2day/1night rainbow mountain trek and I couldnt reccomended them highly enough! The Inca train was perfect for me as I got a taste of seeing remote Inca ruins (with no other tourists there!) and done a good trek on the day but it wasnt too strenous with an amazing guide, Saol. He was really funny and knowledgeable and we got on like a house on fire! He was great at making me feel at ease on my trek and going at my own pace. We got to Machu Picchu about 2pm and it was just incredible! We stayed on the outskirts of MP that day taking pics then got the bus down to Aguas caliantes where I stayed in a lovely hotel for the night. The 2nd day was an early start as we got the 530 bus up to MP again for the "sunrise" so the tour really was the best of both worlds. After that I done the 2d/1n rainbow mountain trek which again I would HIGHLY recommend. If you're thinking about doing RM then skip the day tour and do this instead because it is so much better. My guide was Maro and again was a good laugh and really knowledgeable about everything around us. Yoi do a few hours hike on the first day and camp in the middle of a lama/alpaca farm with the cutest family who are all friendly. Dinner is made for you and it was delicious! Top Mark's to the chef! You camp out and although it was cold, the sleeping bags that Bamba provided were so cosy and made of feathers so really kept you warm. We got up early the next day (4:30) so we got up rainbow mountain for sunrise which was so magical! It was only myself a 3 others up there so it was very serene and peaceful where you could relax after the one hour walk up. We then went to red valley and as we came back we seen the HOARDS of people coming from their buses and on horses and the mountain was swarming with people, so I'd reccomend the 2days just so you can actually appreciate it in its glory! The only thing I would reccomend (as I was so glad I was able to change) is to have a day inbetween the Inca trail and Rainbow mountain. My itinerary meant I was doing one straight into another but I found out on my briefing you dont get back from MP until about 730pm and it's an early start (and long day) for the RM tour so I really appreciated having that day inbetween to get rested, showered and sort my backpack for the next trip! Thank you to all the guides and staff at bamba for their experience and for such a nice trip :)Show moreBamba Travel commented on this reviewHello Lesley, thank you very much for your kind and detailed review this really motivates us to keep doing the good work for our passengers. - Annette· January 26th, 2019The accomodation sleeping in a tent in the minus degree freezing cold was not satisfactory. Also the hikes were more intense than the tour guide made out. I was glad that the horse was an option taking me up to and down from rainbow mountain.Bamba Travel commented on this reviewHello Annette, thanks for reaching out to us about this matter. - BTBecca· September 22nd, 2018First tour with Bamba- definitely a solid tour company, could clean up a few things in regards to communication (not always the most timely). Darwin from the emergency contacts provided was super helpful when trying to get answers. Tour guides on the hikes were AMAZING, the food provided was delicious, and their knowledge is impressive. Hostel Milhouse in Cusco was awesome, great staff and good food in the restaurant/bar. Would certainly use Bamba againShow moreBamba Travel commented on this reviewHello Becca, thank you very much for your kind review! We are so happy you had an excellent time! - Colleen· May 30th, 2018The Rainbow Mountain trek with Bamba Experience was great. The trip was well coordinated and there were so many photo opportunities! I rented a horse for 50 soles +10 for tip for a horse up the mountain and walked down. It was well worth it because I struggled with the altitude. I really enjoyed the authentic Peruvian food at the end of the tour, especially after a long day trekking!Show moreBamba Travel commented on this reviewHello Colleen, thank you very much for your kind review!
