- SSSandra· September 26th, 2023Utracks misrepresented what this trip would be like in terms of views, accessibility to water, villages and etc along the hikes. They promoted you’d hike through some villages, but in reality you hiked 10-15 miles going through no villages with no services. The hikes often had no views or you’d hike along roadways or industrial areas for a portion of every day. Utracks could have been more transparent about the location of the Via Francigena in this section and we would have chosen a different trip. The hotels and food provided were far below average and we left the hike early for this reason. No AC and it was about 85 degrees and humid. Food choices were awful with no accommodation for any food sensitivities which Utracks advertised they can do. We were very disappointed. The app does well to keep you on track, but the written descriptions are inaccurate. For example, day 1 is described as mostly flat but there was 1800 feet of elevation gain. There are no hot springs as indicated in the app, they are closed. Some of the towns that you stay in are very quaint and full of history and some are awful. So do your research. The staff was helpful and organized at first but not very accommodating with problems or refunding for food and services not actually provided as advertised. I’d look at other vendors first.
