Obtaining the permit for the trip was very last minute. I got the permit through TibetVista the day before the actual tour date. Since the permit was granted so last minute, it would not be delivered to me in time. I had to have it delivered to me in Chengdu and stay overnight in a hotel and have the permit delivered to me there. Here is the first issue with TibetVista. The travel service agreement I signed stated that permit delivery within China mainland is included in the trip fees... however, they charged me 400RMB (~80CAD) to have it delivered to me in Chengdu. The representatives I spoke to about this fee even guilted me, saying they are just trying to make my dream to go to Tibet a reality and I shouldn't ask for the 400RMB delivery fee to be waived. The second problem with TibetVista is that the agent I was working with told me that there were no other travellers on the group tour that wanted to share a room and I would have to pay an extra 840RMB (~170CAD) as a single room supplement fee. This was in the contract that if there were no other travellers to share, you would have to pay. So that was okay. HOWEVER, upon talking to other travellers in the tour group, it turns out there were at least 4 other people (if not more) that were told the same thing... that there was no one else that wanted to share a room and we were all being charged the single room fee. The unexpected and unreasonable fees that TibetVista snuck into an already pricey tour is unacceptable. I would not recommend booking a tour to Tibet with this company. The only reason this is 2/5 rather than 1/5 for the experience is because Tibet is incredible and the tour guide Tashi was extremely knowledgeable and made visiting Tibet an unforgettable experience. To summarize, definitely go to Tibet because it is an amazing experience... but don't book with TibetVista because you'll be paying unexpected fees on top of an already pricey trip.

Daniel was an excellent guide who gave us all great insight into his culture and Tibetan religion history. He was so patient to everyone as we made a small change to the itinerary. I would recommend his guide service to anyone. Our driver was positive and compassionate person as we encountered road block, stops, and many many potholes. He was a diligent driver and I felt safe with him.

Booked a 8 days tour from Lhasa to EBC with Tibet Vista. Arrived from Xining to Lhasa and they took care of everything upon arrival. As we are not climatize yet during the first few days, our guide Jigme is very considerate and was flexible with the schedule. He even get a doctor to checkout my son as he was feeling very unwell.

Starting from the beginning, I was told by Tibet Vista agent, Leon, that they would be able to send my Tibet Visa to my hotel in Beijing as I was in transit there. I checked with Leon a month before the trip to ensure that the visa was all settled and Leon assured me that everything is going smoothly. However, just a day before my departure to Lhasa, Leon told me that the hotel did not accept the visa parcel. Leon was not apologetic at all and in his words: "Your hotel did not accept.", in which pushes the blame on me for booking a hotel that did not accept the visa parcel. As a reputable company such as Tibet Vista, having many customers for years, I would have been certain that they would check with the hotel beforehand that a visa parcel would be delivered to them. In the end, I had to pay extra USD$50 for Tibet Vista to send their staff to pass me the visa. This felt like it was all planned for. As for the trip, it was mediocre in terms of guide service. We were not told about what to prepare for, both in terms of weather and itinerary, as some of us had surprisingly different itineraries that were given to us. The guide explained about the place in-depth, but under the hot sun instead of moving us to any shade to do this. The guide did not tell that everyone was given a can of oxygen and thus, I only got mine at Mount Everest Base Camp itself! Thankfully, I did not have altitude sickness. We did not go to the cultural show or the tea house as planned in the itinerary. At Shigatse, I almost had to share a room with another solo traveller, both of us actually paid extra USD$150 for single room supplement. Thankfully, we were persistent in getting our own rooms, and were given single rooms after scuffling. At the Everest Base Camp, we were told by the tour guide that if we arrived first, we would be able to stay in the guesthouse instead of tents. However, we were put into the tents and another group that arrived much later got the guesthouse. I am not too sure because another of a fellow traveller in my group said that she paid extra supplement to get to stay in the guesthouse instead of the tents. The guide service was really basic and it sort of spoiled the rather pleasant trip.
