Back in 1989, two guys from Melbourne, Australia by the names of Darrell and Manch set off on an adventure to the other side of the world. They travelled to Africa and without air conditioning on their modified truck, they filled it with supplies, some beer, a bunch of aviator sunglasses, and...

- KWKenneth· March 12th, 2023Eoin is a terrific guide, helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. Goes beyond just informing us. Great accommodations, especially loved the Beachfront Motel in Byron Bay. Our indigenous guide was sincere in his love for the land and heritage. It was a wonderful trip.Show moreIntrepid Travel commented on this reviewHi Kenneth, thanks for taking the time to share your experience with us on our Sydney to Brisbane Adventure. - CCChia-Hui (Hannah)· February 7th, 2023Everything about the travel and the tour guide (Eoin) was excellent. Enjoyed the travel experience very much. The only complaint I have, was that it took a while to get confirmation of the trip, and then once confirmed, there was no clear itinerary to plan around, so I was a little bit anxious in the beginning.Show moreIntrepid Travel commented on this reviewHi Chia-Hui (Hannah) - Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review! - Tiffany· September 18th, 2022I want to give a 5 for the tour but it was nerve racking that I never got a welcome package or solid itinerary. The Monday before the Friday trip I called with urgency asking my meeting hotel. The guide told me it was a holiday and he would have someone get back in touch with me. I am freaking out because i fly Thursday..takes a couple days to get there from USA. So no one calls or notifies me there is a response in my box saying that it is probably these hotels but not for sure. Then another text comes later saying where the meeting hotel is and giving me an itinerary with no times, hotel, etc. Just the basic one that you see online before purchasing. I wanted to set up transfers but the transfer buttons would not populate. I was so afraid no one would be there but since it is an English speaking country i knew i could figure it out if i go there and no one is avail. I arrive and take uber to the hotel. Luckily, another tour member was at the desk the same time as me! She too did not get information. I was so happy to meet her. We got a welcome paper stating our guide would be five hours late. Now, we are both nervous but grateful the rooms were already booked and in our names. So later when our wonderful guide Max shows up we can begin to really calm down. He was a great guide. He went over and beyond as far as making us feel comfortable and treating us to bbqs and planned events when one of the planned presentations fell through. The lack of being able to have a detailed itinerary nor be able to talk to someone...I even wrote Intrepid to no avail. My ending day I booked my flight too early assuming we were in Brisbane for the last day. In actuality we drive to the finishing spot on the last day so i had to shuttle myself out of Byron Bay and stay at another hotel to catch my 6:00a.m flight. These hiccups could have been avoided if someone could respond in a proper fashion. They say they are not fully manned at this time. Answering phones and texts is not a difficult job. I would do it for you for a discount...lol. Just saying. The trip was amazing. Great spots, fun stuff, good food. Please do this just make sure you get the details and can reach someone...Show moreIntrepid Travel commented on this reviewHi Tiffany, Thank you for your review. - craig· February 2nd, 2020The tour guide was amazing. Really full of life and was excellent. The transport bus was really poor, badly maintained. The air con was really bad, it was cramped and just a worn out bus, no comfort! The accommodation is ok but odd places were not good. Awfull lot of the journey on the dual carriageway. Shame we didn't use more of the scenic routes. Overall I thought there is alot better value to be found. Not recommended.Show moreIntrepid Travel commented on this reviewThanks for your feedback Craig. - JEJudith· November 26th, 2019Our tour guide Andrew Thomas was so good putting out safety and enjoyment above all else, but even he could not help the fires and disruption to our tour.We were dismayed to find we had to pay out 400 plus dollars to fund our internal flights which we thought Intrepid should have paid for. We have travel insurance but some recompense from you would be appreciated . The visits to the chocolate factory and vodka distillery were poor and just money making spots. Altogether the tour apart from the guide was a disappointment, certainly not suitable for 9 year olds or 90 year olds but just manageable for a young 75 year old.Show moreTrip date: November 2019
