- Roxana· December 2nd, 2019We had a very good time during our 10 days Ghorepani Poon Hill Yoga Trek. Everybody was extremely friendly and they made us feel welcome. Unfortunately, at the beginning of our trip, one of the girls from our group had some health problems, and Deepak was very helpful in taking us to a hospital that provided all the needed medicine and adequate intervention. Since we had to delay our trek for one day, we were able to include an extra day trip to Bhaktapur (for which we paid extra) and it was beautiful. The guide that joined us in Kathmandu and Bhaktapur was very nice and very well prepared, providing us with many interesting information. The best part of the trip was the 5 days trek to Ghorepani - Poon Hill. This was mainly due to our incredible guide, Anil. He is very smart and well prepared and he explained to us the local culture, religion, beliefs, habits. The yoga classes held outdoor were absolutely amazing and were totally worth waking up at 5.30 am. The two porters that helped us with the luggage were life saviors and they made it so that we can enjoy our trek without any extra carry. The accommodation during the hike was very nice. Although we had sleeping bags, the extra blankets received there were an absolute must. All accommodations provided warm water and electricity (some of them for an extra charge), and internet (for 100-200 rupees). The food was very good, but the coffee was very bad (if you are a coffee lover, prepare to suffer from this point of view). As low points, I would indicate the accommodation in Kathmandu. The rooms were not clean and the bathrooms were quite bad. The toiled was overflowing and the showers were in a terrible condition and could not be used. Another low point was the transportation from Kathmandu to Pokhara. We were informed that it would be done by DeLuxe bus, so the expectations were set accordingly. However, what we received was a 9h ride in a bus without air conditioning, with very little space for our feet, and with very uncomfortable seats. It was a very unpleasant trip so for the way back we decided to pay extra and get a VIP bus, which was a lot better. Another low point would be the fact that during the trip, there was a predetermined budget for our daily meals that included only one dish and one drink, and if we wanted something extra, like a second drink, or a second dish (that would make sense, after a 7h trek) we needed to pay extra. Considering the amount we paid for the entire trip, and the fact that it indicated that meals were included, it took us by surprise. I would recommend to discuss every single detail from the start, so that no surprises appear on the way. All in all, it was a great experience, again, mostly due to our amazing guide, Anil, and to our porter friends.Show moreTrekking Planner Pvt. - Amy· December 26th, 2018Upon arrival in Kathmandu I was picked up and transported to my hotel in Thamel. This is a very touristy area full of restaurants and shopping for anything you may have forgotten. Dipak met me at the hotel to walk to his office to discuss the itinerary and get my duffel and yoga mat. When I found out I was the only person signed up for my dates he was able to shift my schedule to allow me to trek with 2 other people later the same week. While in Kathmandu I spent a day seeing the main sights, visiting a local school with my guide Suman, taking a cooking class and enjoying a traditional meal with live dance and music. Anil the yoga instructor met at my hotel each morning and evening for private yoga sessions. When the time came a driver picked me up at the hotel and dropped me off at the tourist bus to head to Pokhara. I was able to leave my main backpack at the hotel for free so as not to weigh down the porters. Along the route Anil joined the bus and was with me until I got to the hotel. Once there I met the other trekkers and porters (Suman and Don). We had time to see the town and kayak on the lake. The following day a private jeepeny picked us up and drove us to the trail head where we picked up fresh fruit for the trek. The first day was an easy wide dirt road followed by many stone stairs. The hotel we stayed at had cold showers, standard beds and a carom table which was an enjoyable way to pass time. The next 2 days of trekking were full of wonderful waterfalls peeks at the snow topped mountains and tons of stone stairs which made for a slightly more challenging walk than day 1 but still easily doable for anyone in decent shape with good knees. Our porters carried 10kg of baggage for us leaving us only a day pack which was awesome. You don't need to pack much for this trek as the showers are generally cold and you will just need layers. On the morning of day 4 trekking we were up well before dawn to climb to Ghorepani Poon Hill to see the sun rise. This was amazing! I could have stayed here all day as the views were beyond my expectations. The rest of day 4 trekking was up and down and had many more trekkers than the rest of the hike. The 5th and final day I had to take a jeepeny early from Gandruk as I had to catch a flight back to depart the country. :-( I will say that our guide and porter were very friendly and accommodating ensuring our meals were ordered and to our liking. The yoga we practiced ach morning and evening was unlike the yoga I had done back home. It was mostly gentle movements and stretching that focused on breathing and loosening joints more than poses. It helped loosen you up but may not be what you are use to. There is no need to be an expert in asana yoga or capable of advanced moves for this trek.Show moreTrekking Planner Pvt.
