  Should warn people that they need to pas the hat round for the driver as well as the guide. Lunches far less expensive than indicated in budgeting.

  Pleasant cultural tour, but you need to be into churches and museums to really enjoy it. Itinerary needs a bit of re-work as there was not enought time for some of the places visited particularly on the final 2 days. Recommend extend in Sophia either before or afterwards by a day. Long drive at the end of day 3 to visit Kleptuza was a total waste of time.

  This tour covered many of the historical, cultural and geographical aspects of Bulgaria very well. The pace of the tour was well balanced until the last two days. Unfortunately we found the last two days were very rushed, having to cover almost 500km plus sightseeing in one day. We wonder if the time in Kazanlak could be reduced to one night. This would allow an overnight stay in Veliko Turnovo and give more time in the town and shorten the drive on the last day. The time spent in Burgas could be better spent in Nesebar or Varna

  Great overall view of a country not many know much about. This country was conquered by the Thracians, Greeks, Romans, Slavs, and Ottomans and their presence remains. The places we visited were amazing. The tour should have been a few days longer as it seemed rushed at the end. The one area more time was needed was the coast. Bulgaria is extremely affordable, and has amazing natural beauty from lush green mountains, to fields of lavender. I'd suggest flying in a day early or leaving a day later to stroll around Sofia on your own, as it has so much more than where the tour guide brings you. Where the tour lacked: The Coastal area of Burgess, Nessebar, and Varna was rushed. We spent 24 hours visiting all 3 places which are hours apart from one another (30 minutes in Burgess, 3 hours in Nessebar) and by the time we got to Varna it was already 7pm. We left at 8am the next morning). For me, this was not enough time to experience it. They also took us to a "lake", which was more like a small pond with paddle boats that we just looked at then got back on the bus. That could not have been "The Best" Bulgaria had and for me a waste of 30 minutes. Finally the lunches could have been shorter. For those that need 2 hours to eat they could have done that on their own. For those that wanted to experience more of the area, they should have been allowed to remain instead of being bused to a restaurant to sit and wait. Finally, two days in Stara Zagora was too long. One day is more than enough in this town. Both the tour guide and driver were fantastic. I would recommend the tour and I hope Explore will update the itinerary regarding the coast (add an extra day) and remove this "lake" from the itinerary.
