- ADAnna· March 1st, 2023It was a 2day Golden Triangle trip (pick-up at a Delhi hotel and drive to Agra, overnight in Jaipur and then back to Delhi). I’m impressed by the history and art!! It’s better to adjust your mind for Indian service standards, which are different to European ones even if you pay a high price: there were quite a number of situations which I didn’t like from a driver/ guide, it’s just a local mentality. Pros: It is totally safe for a single lady traveler as either a trusted driver or a guide are always accompanying. The driver Shehzad arrived punctual to the hotel, on our way to Agra he stopped at a very nice authentic tea place. A guide in Angra, Ankit, was very professional and attentive, he was aware of many tiny details what it was interesting to know in addition to what I already knew before coming to Agra. His English is great, he is very well educated (Masters in history + a licensed guide), it was fantastic to have him as a guide there. A guide in Jaipur, Karni, is a great local character, he was very knowledgeable, diplomatic and provided with lot’s of historical details. His English is also good. Cons: Bad communication from a tour operator: I contacted them for a driver details, they promised to do it a day before the trip which starts at 5am. However a day before the trip - at 19:00 no information was still provided, I contacted them again and only after that they gave me the details. That kind of delay didn’t give a confidence whether it’s a real tour operator or a fake one. NO possibility to cancel 1 day before a trip as many other tour operators offer this opportunity (their cancellation policy is 30 days before the trip w/o fees). After visiting Taj Mahal I was taken to an advertising - selling tour to local manufactures/ shops (w/o my prior consent), it was interesting to see the stuff though because of this by the time when we came to Agra Fort it was closed due to a VIP visit. The guide said that the information was published that the VIP visit would happen earlier, however, he could always to be informed via his connections at Agra Fort as he did it later. While we were waiting when the Fort would be re-open - we missed time and didn’t have an opportunity to visit another Fort on our way to Jaipur, it’s quite upsetting as it happened due to those trips to local manufactures, which were definitely not on my agenda. I booked a tour incl. a hotel - better to avoid this option and be sure that you book a better hotel for yourself even if it’s just a one night stay.Show moreTrip date: February 2023
