- JNJenani· January 30th, 2024My recent 10-day Kenya Lodge Safari with Exciting Africa Holidays Ltd, covering Amboseli National Park, Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Lake Nakuru, Lake Naivasha, and Masai Mara, was an absolute dream come true. Led by the remarkable guide Onesmus and expertly coordinated by the efficient office manager Albert, every moment of this safari exceeded expectations. Our journey began with the awe-inspiring vistas of Amboseli National Park, where the iconic Mount Kilimanjaro served as a breathtaking backdrop to our wildlife sightings. From herds of majestic elephants roaming freely to graceful giraffes silhouetted against the golden sunset, Amboseli left an indelible mark on our hearts. Next, we ventured to Ol Pejeta Conservancy, where we had the privilege of encountering endangered rhinos up close, including the magnificent northern white rhinos. The conservation efforts at Ol Pejeta are truly inspiring, and witnessing these incredible animals in their natural habitat was a humbling experience. Lake Nakuru National Park welcomed us with its vibrant pink hues, courtesy of the thousands of flamingos gracing its shores. The park's diverse birdlife, including pelicans, marabou storks, and African fish eagles, captivated us at every turn. We were also fortunate to spot elusive leopards and endangered Rothschild's giraffes during our game drives. Our journey continued to the tranquil shores of Lake Naivasha, where we embarked on a boat safari, gliding past grazing hippos and basking crocodiles. Exploring the nearby Hell's Gate National Park on foot was a thrilling experience, as we hiked amidst towering cliffs and dramatic gorges, with sightings of zebras, gazelles, and baboons along the way. The grand finale of our safari was the world-renowned Masai Mara, where the sweeping grasslands teemed with wildlife at every corner. Under the expert guidance of Onesmus, we witnessed the Great Migration in all its splendor, as thousands of wildebeest and zebras thundered across the plains in search of greener pastures. Our encounters with the Big Five were nothing short of extraordinary, from close encounters with lions to observing elusive leopards lounging in the acacia trees. Throughout the safari, Onesmus's passion for wildlife and deep knowledge of the local ecosystems enriched our experience beyond measure. His keen eye and expert tracking skills ensured that we never missed a moment of the action, from elusive predators on the prowl to rare bird sightings hidden amidst the foliage. Behind the scenes, Albert's meticulous planning and seamless coordination ensured that every aspect of our safari ran smoothly, from transportation to accommodation. His warm hospitality and attention to detail made us feel welcomed and cared for at every step of the journey. In conclusion, my 10-day Kenya Lodge Safari with Exciting Africa Holidays Ltd was a once-in-a-lifetime adventure that surpassed all expectations. From the stunning landscapes to the incredible wildlife encounters, every moment was filled with wonder and excitement. I cannot recommend Exciting Africa Holidays Ltd, Onesmus, and Albert highly enough to anyone seeking an unforgettable safari experience in Kenya. Thank you for the memories that will last a lifetime! - EBElizabeth· August 29th, 2023I must have been the only person who booked this trip for these dates and was not advised of this in advance. This might be why my itinerary was altered without discussion or alternatives offered. Although some people might enjoy a private safari, it wasn’t really what I thought I had purchased. And in retrospect, I needn’t have paid the single room supplement. I was aware I needed to pay an extra US$850 for park entrance fees on arrival, however, I wasn’t aware that was to be in cash. As an Australian, I don’t carry large quantities of US currency, nor do I have a credit card that can pay for goods or services directly in US currency. My guide Gibson was very good and helped me with obtaining the large amounts of Kenyan cash I needed to pay the equivalent of the $850, and another US$450 for the balloon ride in the Masai Mara. I certainly saw all the animals I had hoped to see, many of them up close. I underestimated the amount of time spent in a vehicle, and just how many other vehicles would be jockeying for the best position for their clients to obtain the perfect photo.Show moreTrip date: July 2023
- Angela· July 28th, 2022I had so much fun on this trip. I had the same driver-guide and Safari vehicle (Land Cruiser) for the entire trip. The tour driver-guide was Ben and he is very experienced, and he knows everything about the animals. He was able to drive to the best spots for animal viewing. He knows most of the other tour guides and connected with them via radio. So, if any tour guide in the park found rare animals, he would know right away and take us to the spot. On top of the big five, baby elephants and a cute baby leopard, we saw cheetahs feasting on a zebra, lions having sex and vultures fighting each other over another zebra. I guess we were very lucky. We went in July, so we also saw wildebeests crossing the river. Thanks to our driver-guide, we had a fantastic trip. I wish the Land Cruiser had AC, but since the weather is nice in July, we were comfortable most of the time. The hotels were very nice and clean, and most of them have big rooms. But most important, there are animals right at the some of the hotels. I tried to control myself not to pet the baby zebras at the hotel. The food for the trip were from the hotels and they are all buffets. The food quality is quite good, but we still didn’t dare to eat the salad and stuck with cooked vegetables, meats and of course, deserts. Bottled water are provided for the whole trip. Although the water looked and smelled very clean in the hotel, but for safety, we use bolted water to brush teeth. This trip was way above my expectations.Show moreTrip date: July 2022
- WPWilliam· June 24th, 2022Just returned from 10 day wildebeest safari Kenya. The positives - [ ] We stayed in wonderful hotels - [ ] Saw so many animals and birds, much more than we could have ever imagined. - [ ] Driver waiting at airport for transfer to hotel and departure - [ ] Ben, our driver, for the whole trip, was fantastic, he has a wealth of knowledge with 18 years safari experience knows about all the animals, parks, culture and areas we visited. - [ ] Ben always arrived early for every excursion and ensured we were happy and safe. So if you book, make sure you ask for Ben as your driver. - [ ] As most of the hotels served buffet meals, it was easy for me to choose the vegan options. The negatives - [ ] And this is a huge negative. Twice on safari when the top was open it snapped shut when going over bumps. Fortunately, both times we was sitting down. As there are some people who stand whilst being driven around the parks, the consequences could have been serious or even fatal. - [ ] Some days we had 6-8 hours on the road, so this was not pleasant nor that comfortable with no air conditioning, as the Toyota Safari Land Cruiser, was very old. I called it the bone shaker. ive - [ ] Also we was requested to bring $US to pay for the trip, so they saved on the credit card fees. Which I understand, just sounds unprofessional. Having said all of this, we did have a wonderful trip, and I would have given 5⭐️ but the above negatives is why the 3 star ⭐️ rating. Hopefully these comments are taken on board, and transport is improved for future trips.Show moreExciting Africa Holidays commented on this reviewThanks William for this review and update ,we do appreciate and we will work on the 4x4 landcruiser vehicle please. - JCJILL· May 21st, 2019The tour was unbelievably good. I would wholeheartedly recommend Stella and Albert and Zack was beyond compare. The game drives were times of absolute fever-pitch waiting for whatever animal or bird would next leap into view and scanning the horizon, that we have some good photos out of the 1000 or more that we took is due to Zacks ability to frame up a scene and park us in the right position. Thanks for the camera tips too! We saw all that we wanted to see and more and have amazing memories to take home exactly as promised in the tour preamble. That said there were just a couple of points that could be addressed: whilst it is not the fault of Exciting Africa the food available through the lodges was sometimes poor such as cold plates stale breads etc. the picnics often inedible. (can that be taken up with them?) Some of the toilet stops need to be reconsidered in light of western women's needs (Seats and soap) the only other sore point was the distance between lodges particularly Amboseli to Aberdare which with a delay after lunch resulted in 10 hours of travel between lodges. whilst it would be more expensive is a plane flight between the two plausible? which would give more time to explore also. These niggles should certainly not detract from the incredible holiday. Albert and Stella it was great to be able to meet you and thankyou for hosting such a memorable trip.Show moreExciting Africa Holidays commented on this reviewThank you Jill Carr, we are glad that you enjoyed your trip despite a few itches that you have highlighted above. we hope that in future you will consider us to plan for your safari.
