- Celina· March 23rd, 2025Automatic translation available in English. View in EnglishA very well organized tour from start to finish. The itinerary was well thought out, the day trips very well chosen and exciting. The hotels were also very convincing in terms of location, service and cleanliness. All in all, we had a wonderful vacation and can only recommend this tour to anyone who wants to get to know Vietnam from its most beautiful side.Show moreTrip date: March 2025
- MSMichael· January 3rd, 2025Automatic translation available in English. View in EnglishAs I only had 14 days, I opted for this pre-organized trip and have no regrets. Everything was well organized and the "tour guide" worked perfectly and very nicely via WhatsApp. If I had any questions, I had an answer or solution on my cell phone in no time at all. Deviating wishes were also taken into account. The hotels were all very centrally located and (apart from one with a room that was too small in Hoian) were in the 4* class. The activities were very commercial and - with the exception of the nice cooking class - literally mass tourism, which, on the other hand, can hardly be avoided, e.g. during the worthwhile visit to the tunnels in Củ Chi. However, if you only have 14 days to see half of Vietnam, mass tourism is to be expected when sightseeing. However, the time between activities also left room for individual exploration. Fortunately, the hotel in Phu Quoq was also centrally located, but not one of those gigantic buildings for tens of thousands, some of which imitate Venice, Heidelberg, London or whatever. Hundreds of these theme park hotels are springing up there in gigantic dimensions for the tourism of horror (and take away all the charm of the island in the affected areas). Once again: fortunately it wasn't like that! However, I found it critical that all the flights took place very early, so that you often reached the destination hotels at 9 to 10 a.m., but they only made rooms available from 2 p.m. onwards. Due to another travel review, I had opted for a 3rd domestic flight (between Hanoi and Danang) instead of the night journey by train, not realizing that this would be on a spectacular route - albeit largely in the dark. However, the Cloud Pass is not far from Danang, so it will probably be passed in daylight, which should be interesting from a scenic point of view (provided the pass doesn't live up to its name). In principle, I can recommend the trip with a clear conscience, but otherwise I would clearly recommend a longer trip and therefore a different tour.Show moreSwallow Travel commented on this reviewDear Michael Schlimm, Thank you so much for spending time to write a feedback for us. - Mana· November 15th, 2022Although this enjoyable hitting some of the key cities and places of interest in Vietnam I was quite disappointed that this was not a 'group' tour like my previous trips. The trip page/description on Tour Radar uses key words like 'group', 'partially guided' and 'Max group size: 22' to suggest this is a group tour, however the reality is that this is a fixed itinerary trip for only you and anyone who accompanies you. So if you enjoy developing friendships with a fixed group of like minded travelers over the duration of a multi-day/week trip, then this is not for you. However, if you like the flexibly of solo travelling and meeting new people at each separate locations then this will be to your liking. Its really a case of your expectation on the type of tour. Personally getting to know people and building new friendships with a fixed group of people from start to end is a significant draw to these types of trips and hence I was pretty disappointed on how this ended up. I would strongly recommend the wording on the trip description be made clearer that you will be left to your own devices and that travelers will not have a dedicated guide, nor will you be travelling as part of a larger group from start to end. On the positive side the accommodation was wonderful and internal pick-ups and transportation connections were seamlessly arranged and any communications with the tour operator (Mrs Thuong) were very efficient and professional. Thuong acknowledged our concerns on the this not being a 'group tour' and to her credit made efforts to offset our disappointment with a couple of room upgrades. The effort was appreciated but to be honest this not being a group tour did put quite a damper on the trip for the first few days, especially as you look forward to a trip with expectations and then the reality ends of different. Needless to say, irrespectively we made the best of the situation to make the most of the trip. Other suggestions/thoughts: (i) the over-night train ride was 16 hours....pretty long! If you're travelling with a group of friends and have the full 4-bunk cabin to yourselves this may be okay as you have your personal space to talk, move around and switch bunks, etc. but in a small group of 1-3, you may end up sharing with others which will limit your movements and conversations in the cabin and you'll find yourselves standing/wandering the corridors on the train. Also those with mobility issues may lack the ability to climb up onto the top bed bunks (only a single small step at waist height and grab handles to pull yourself up). I would suggest paying the extra small amount and upgrading to a 1.5hr flight instead and spending the time saved on sightseeing instead. This is an option identified in the itinerary and worth considering. (ii) After landing in Da Nang, you are transferred directly to a lovely small town 'Hoi An' outside of Da Nang for a few days. Unfortunately you don't get to see Da Nang (except from the inside of your cab). The City seemed cleaner, less crowded and newer than Hanoi and Saigon and I'd image its a nice place to stay and enjoy the beach even for a single day. Would suggest to the tour operator to maybe add/edit the itinerary to include a day (or two) here. In summary a pretty good trip in terms of places to see, itinerary, seamless travel transfers and accommodation quality. However due to the not being a group tour I downgraded my rating to an 'okay'. Hope you find this useful, safe travels!Show moreSwallow Travel commented on this reviewDear Mana, Thank you very much for feedback. - SRStefan· September 4th, 2022We had a great honeymoon in Vietnam! Thuong was very helpful throughout the booking process and incorporated all our requests into the itinerary. During our trip everything went smoothly with the hotels, drivers and tours. Thuong was always available via Whatsapp and constantly asked us if everything was ok. When my wife came down with a cough, she even made sure that medicine was brought to our hotel. I can fully recommend Swallow Travel for a vacation in Vietnam!Show moreTrip date: August 2022
