  It is probably the best tour for visiting Scottish highlands. Neil is an amazing tour guide, passionate about history and nature with the twist of humour. I especially liked dreamy landscapes of Skye with amazing narration of history and Scottish music playlist by Neil. It was a tour I wish never ended, will definitely come back to Mac backpackers for more adventures in Scotland. Wish they organised such tours in other European countries too.

  Amazing tour, out guide Neil was the fantastic, with a lot of laughs along the trip, but also so knowledgeable with the history of Scotland. This was my first solo travel trip so was a bit nervous at the start but everyone on the trip is there for the same reason, to explore Scotland with like minded traveler's. We sore some amazing parts of Scotland (Glendora, hiked stoor, Loch Ness ext.) Already looking at planning to come back for there 5 day trip next year

  Wonderful tour for young adults curated to the interests of the group with the expertise of the tour guide to lead it all. Our guide, Neil, was an excellent storyteller giving a thorough and entertaining history of the highlands!

  I had a fantastic time on MacBackpackers 3 day Loch Ness & Skye tour! At 32, I was a bit nervous that I might be on a bus full of young partygoers but had a fantastic group of 14 international travelers, median age was around 30, that were great company! 10/10 would recommend for anyone looking for a more active, younger-adult oriented tour! Our driver and tour guide, Tim, was fantastic with lots of cheeky humor but really knew his history with great presentation. We had a good amount of time off the bus, including a few notable longer walks/hikes which I was pleased with, and it never felt rushed. The first day was long, with a walk at Hermitage Green, lunch stop in Pitlochry, then Clava Cairns and Culloden. We spent the night on the shores of Loch Ness (at Loch Ness Hostel) and I got to enjoy a very cold evening swim and then woke in time to an amazing sunrise. Second day we spent exploring Skye, Tim was excellent at selecting less crowded spots with still absolutely amazing views - and we had 2 solid hikes during the day and some shorter stops. I was incredibly glad to not have tried driving myself, especially on Skye, given the one-way lanes and tourist traffic. Tim's driving was excellent. Both hostels had great kitchen facilities and we stopped at supermarkets to grab lunch to go, and items to cook or heat-and-eat for dinner (though Skye also had a pub within walking distance, but all of our group decided to stay in). The last day we returned via Glencoe with an hour-long hike with stunning views, and stop at the Wallace Monument in Stirling. Three days was the perfect length, but I'd absolutely use them again.

  Was really an amazing experience. Was in a group of 12, and we all got to know each other pretty well by the end. The guide, Tim, did an amazing job, was very flexible and easy going, and honestly a delight to be around. He’d adjust the itinerary on the fly based on the conditions and what the group wanted. He was very chill with staying longer at certain stops if we needed to, so we never felt rushed. The itinerary was also phenomenal: we saw so many gorgeous locations and usually had them to ourselves. Even the evenings at the hostels were memorable, from swimming in Loch Ness, to doing traditional Scottish folk dancing, to playing songs on the guitar around the fireplace. Would highly recommend to any backpackers who want to see the highlands.

  My experience of this tour was awesome! So much packed into 3 days. Accommodation was good - even stayed in our own hostel/house on Skye which felt like staying at a holiday house with family.

  Had an absolutely amazing time traveling around the highlands with 5 other girlies and our guide Neil ! As Neil says, this tour is like your “first date” of the Scottish highlands. And let me tell you, after this tour I’m going to need a second and third date ! Truly was a great time, and Neil’s humor and Scottish ways made it all so much better. If you’re on the edge, book it ! You won’t regret it at all.
