My trip through the peaks of the Balkans was amazing and I would definitely recommend to anyone thinking about doing it!! It was definitely challenging but in the best way possible. My guides Mentor and Nol were knowledgeable, patient and supportive through all the ups and downs of the trip. I couldn’t be more grateful for their leadership.

I strongly recommend this company and this particular itinerary for hiking the POB. Each day was shockingly beautiful, and I hail from California- famous for lovely hikes. I have also hiked quite a bit in other countries, and this itinerary IS a MUST DO! Do not skip the highest Mountain in Kosovo and do not skip the tri peak challenge either! The hikes were not difficult terrain wise, however we were hiking in an unprecedented heatwave in mid July which made each hike triply hard. Plus hiking in heat was a new experience for many of us including me as when that hot back home I head to higher/cooler terrain and that was not an option here. First, the joining/ending hotel is perfectly located to catch the airport bus and adjacent to a pedestrian drag where you can get change, drinks and food. Although the Prominade was quirky-think low ceilings and very cramped, non air conditioned loud, breakfast/meeting spot, it was just fine for me. The staff seemed super cool. The guest houses along the way were as expected. Plenty of food, clean beds, kind owners but bathroom facilities/sanitation a bit worrisome here and there. The shower facilities definitely need improvement in a few spots as in some places your skin was burned and/or the water was cold and sometimes it ran out. But I think we all got baths and that is what counts. Most of the showers were the wet room style so unfortunately the bathrooms were constantly wet so bring flip flops. All 3 of our guides had the most wonderful of personalities. Vali who did most the work a strong, beautiful, vivacious, woman that can hike better than anyone I know. Astrit with his gruff voice was second in command and the groups entertainer. At night people would gather around just to hear his jokes and other true stories not so great, about the war and the suffering of the Kosovoian people. Lastly, we had gentle Megi who was training to be a guide himself and although covered in blisters he never complained and took good care of the slower or sick folks in the group. We were blessed w 3 strong hikers to guide us through this adventure and they did very well indeed and I am a harsh critic as I myself lead hikes in the States. Aside from a few mistakes the first few days, they listened to our complaints and rose to the occasion afterward guiding expertly. After I finally adjusted to the heat I felt quite safe and well cared for on the trip. Unfortunately, I and a few others fell ill during the trip due to food/water contamination, that sort of thing is expected in these situations- especially with the heat. When we were sick the guides really stepped up in giving us extra attention and I am so grateful for Vali buying me bubble water as that was the only thing I could keep down in the heat. As a medical person I was impressed with the way they cared for us ensuring we took breaks, went slow, drank a ton of water, and ate. I seriously don't think you could find better guides for this trail and BNA is lucky to have them. So yes, I recommend this trip and this company very much!
