- Zuleyha· January 19th, 2021We did the Kilimanjaro climbing tour in 3days with Nicki and his team and it was amazing! Nicki organized the tour in very short notice and everything ready to go in just 48hours! The team is just awesome, always available and there to help! They were well experienced and great support to make it to the summit! Thank you so much!Show moreTrip date: January 2021
- ZZitaConroy· August 15th, 2019As a solo traveller a lot of my friends and family thought I was nuts attempting to take on Kilimanjaro on my own – but with Kilimanjaro Trekking Mate I was in really safe hands. They were very knowledgeable and professional from the very start. I cannot recommend this company enough. There are of course a lot of outfitters to choose from but I’m so happy that I went with these guys. From the very beginning Nick was so quick to respond to my (many) emails and patiently answer all my questions. Everything was organised perfectly. In Moshi Nick came promptly to meet me for a detailed briefing and a complete gear check, he helped me rent some things I needed and kindly drove me around Moshi to collect them – it was all perfect for use on the mountain. It struck me again how patient he was, I never felt rushed and truly believed that he would have given up hours and hours of his day if that was what I needed. If you are a little bit excited/nervous to be taking on a challenge such as Kili it is so comforting to have someone give you such attention and care – nothing was a problem. Ever. The hike was really enjoyable. The crew was really great and did such a fantastic job of taking care of all my needs. Every evening we had a health check and briefing so that I knew what was in store for the next day, it really helps you to get mentally prepared and then you feel ready to tackle anything. Pius, my guide, was awesome and knew just the right pace for us to keep to. He’s really knowledgeable about the mountain and there’s a passion that comes through when you talk with him. There’s always a level of nervousness (for the hiker that is) when setting off on summit night but Pius was so calm and did a such a great job of knowing when to encourage me, when to push me, and when to leave me be while I regrouped. As tough as the summit is at times it’s also totally enjoyable, reaching smaller targets as you move us the mountain keeps you believing that you are making progress and can do it. The serenity at the top when reaching Uhuru is unbelievable – we even managed to have the place to ourselves for a little while! Thank you Pius. Trekking Kili is only something that can be done with a team and I know that I wouldn’t have made it to the top without also the efforts of all the porters and the chef. Much respect for all that the porters carry as they climb (and overtake you), camp was always set up and ready when we arrived. Abraham, the chef (or ‘stomach engineer’!) did such an amazing job of keeping this vegetarian fed and feeling good everyday. The meals that can be prepared at every camp are just incredible to me – the mind boggles. I thought I would manage to lose some weight whilst hiking but this was not going to happen on his watch! Rayson was so kind at every mealtime and always had a smile and chatter to keep me cheery. I miss my morning ginger tea :-) and thank him for being so patient with someone who is definitely not a morning person!! For my 7 days on the mountain (and all the preparation leading up to it) I felt completely comfortable, safe, motivated and taken care of. Kilimanjaro Trekking Mate are an excellent outfitter, totally professional but with a really important personable touch. I would recommend them to anybody. Thanks to all for helping reach the summit – an incredible life goal to achieveShow moreTrip date: July 2019
