Travel Deal between Luxor - Aswan and Dahabiya Exclusive-Memphis Tours [RID#: 59dNqA]. If I could put zero in the revue I would. I am fortunate enough to be able to compare for this trip to Egypt two Tours operators and make the difference between a tip of incompetents and a Tour operator who is honest and up to the mark. Memphys-through a certain Youssef who had never introduced himself as a Memphys operator but as a person who could put us in touch with some Dahabeyas-gave us a quote for two days of sightseeing in Cairo-excluding hotel I had taken with Booking-of the sites of Saqqarah, Dashour, Meïdoum, El Lahoun and the Cairo Museum for 1770€. When in the Saqqarah visit we wanted to take off a pyramid to add a mastaba and give up lunch, the estimate increased by 660€. I declined Memphys' quote and went elsewhere. And-to my greatest surprise-they quoted me (and I paid on the spot) 750€. So Memphys had quoted me for the same things 1680€ more than I paid with the other tour operator! And when due to a breakdown of the visa card readers, the visits booked with the other tour operator were delayed by 1 hour, the latter decided to make a gesture and offered us a Nile cruise with dinner and show on board and on their own initiative (then that the breakdown was not even up to them!). Unfortunately, having paid a deposit for the Dahabeya, at Louxor and Asswan we were stuck with Memphys. I would rather say "taken hostage." In arranging the Louxor visits on March 2, two temples were "forgotten" by Youssef of Memphys. Although we had provided them with evidence that these temples had been requested and negotiated, they replied that if we had a desire to see them we had to pay extra. That was the straw. We decided to forgo all visits on the last day including a lunch-perfectly aware that we would never be reimbursed-and re-contacted the tour operator in Cairo who fortunately had a contact in Louxor and continued the visit with them. But the financial aspect is not the only thing I have to complain about. We were told that all tickets would be bought in advance but again a (nasty) surprise : my daughter's tickets I had to buy all of them with my card (because archaeological sites do not accept cash). At the end of the visit I realized (because I received notification from the bank) that my debit card was charged twice. When I pointed this out to the guide Memphys, she replied that I had to handle this double charge with my bank because there was nothing they could do about it. Once again Memphys proved to me that they were completely unable to handle the slightest problem that they had moreover helped to create since they were the ones who asked me to use my card debit card (Memphys had not provided one to the guide as the far more professional Cairo tour operator than Memphys had done!). And now we come to the handling of the tourist. Memphys operators sino unable to stick to a schedule or not change it the night before for the next day or arrive late! An example? On the first day of our tour (Louxor - Aswan - Nubian village) they were supposed to pick us up "early in the morning," then at 8, later at 6 and finally they told us to be ready by 5:30. As if they did not know where/how to go and improvised! While the guide, who was supposed to embark with us on the Dahabeya, was supposed to show up at 8 p.m. but arrived - four hours late - at midnight (we were already in bed and did not meet him until the next morning). Not to mention his total lack of effectiveness, politeness and savoir faire (he came into my son's room while he was changing and asked my mother to visit his room: which she refused to do!). At the table with us, he would put music on his phone unable to entertain any discussion. In short, STAY AWAY FROM MEMPHYS TOUR (check out the other reviews too!). There is better on the market and far cheaper. What helped us endure until the penultimate day (after which we ditched them so as not to ruin our vacation altogether!) was Dahabeya and her fantastic crew. Simple, unobtrusive and smiling people. Needless to say, they are independent and have nothing to do with Memphys. To sum up: Memphys is the most expensive ever, run (or represented) by incompetents and cheaters !!!
