- LLeeWou· October 25th, 2019Here goes, after feeling disenchanted by British based tour operators and declaring to my wife I would take care of the honeymoon and arrange via a Tanzanian tour operator I did ALOT of research. I have to admit I was more than a little cautious about wiring thousands of pounds to Africa but Shungu instilled so much confidence during the lead up that I was reassured to book with Kilimanjaro Safari Experience. From the initial enquiry to the transfer back to the airport and every tiny detail in between, he was informative, helpful and available. We spent our first week on Safari, visiting Tarangire, Lake Manyara, the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Conservation area and crater. Our driver Herman, and the experience as a whole was quite simply incredible, because of the incredible surroundings and the incredible service. A private jeep and experienced driver at our disposal (for the same price as structured shared safari with no option to tailor your requirements via a UK based operators), staying in parks we requested in the luxury tented accommodation that we chose, made for a truly once in a lifetime holiday. Waking up at 4am to hear grunting and peeking out of your tent to see a giraffe just metres away is both exhilarating and unforgettable. All the camps were great and the parks were incredible. The chef arranged a special surprise honeymoon dinner for us as well in addition to the many outstanding experiences that you get on a regular holiday – a trip to a Masai villages, bush walks with masai, watching and attempting (badly) masai dancing. A great experience. For our second week we were climbing Kilimanjaro as a private group. Again, amazing! I may have actually shed a tear as the sun came up just as we reached the summit – it really is an overwhelming feeling. The team were great, good food, especially considering it has all been carried up the mountain and stored for for a week, the porters are superhuman and have everything set for your arrival to camp each day. Both guides were great - our lead guide actually fell ill just before summit day but our assistant guide and a porter stepped up and I felt more than comfortable with them guiding us – I didn’t even question it. The only thing I would recommend is to ask to take a toilet - in the middle of the night after drinking 5 litres of water you don't want to be trudging to the long drop or peeing in a plastic bag (blush). Then onto Zanzibar to rest. Again – the transfers and arrangements that were put in place by Kilimanjaro Safari Experience were seamless. So, I can confirm the company is 1. Real and won't take your money without giving you the holiday of a lifetime in return; 2. Safety conscious (a big deal when taking on such endeavours). 3. Classy and professional. Use them. They deserve your business.Show moreKilimanjaro Safari Experience commented on this reviewHi Lee, I hereby present my loyal and sincere gratitude for such a tremendous review on my company and all the teamwork. Our unity is our superiority, there has to be a mechanism that connects the company, the client and the crews...for a better...
