Great trip! A couple walks pushed my limits but the rewards were always worth it. Transportation was better than expected. Highlights...sunrise at Ankor Wat...and drinks at Ankor Whaaat? ... understanding the aspects of brutality of the Khmer Rouge ... homestays were amazing to see how people live ... my Commonwealth Posse! ... and our amazing guides Chanmol (Cambodia) and Thanh (Vietnam), who explained everything including sharing some of his own family stories regarding the wars. Do this trip if you get the chance.

I have sent in my review and our tour rep was Tuyen Nguyen was above excellent. He went over and above what was defined by Intrepid. He was working 24/7 for us. He was always polite always had a smile and was accommodating to all. I mentioned x1 woman who should not have be on the trip and despite bending over backwards for her she was always unhappy.. Tuyen explainied and detailed everything on each occasion Intrepid could provide more information prior to the start of the trip in as far as details of the accommodations apart from the starting and finishing ones.

Trip as expected. Both tour guides were excellent, great ambassadors for their respective countries and over and above what was expected of them. There was one participant in the 2 part of this tour that should not have been on it and would get the reptile do lots of things for her, hound him and then do something different. We had a consensus about a bit of a tip at the end and despite be the wealthiest of us all and lawyers wife she had to be the one to shortchange him. Fellow travelers were v mixed of ages, backgrounds and meshed well on both parts of the trip. It was really nice having the tour guide get us through the borders and get us into the correct trains and compartments . Word recommend Intrepid to others

Overall it was a good trip for what it was, but personally I think in the future I will be travelling without a group just for the extra flexibility but was a good way to see a lot in a short space of time where travelling on my own, I wouldn't have seen as much. I did the 'Experience Indochina " tour, which was really two tours of Cambodia and Vietnam, with different guides so I'm going to review each separately. Cambodia was overall very good. I do think that you ideally need more time in Siem Reap as there ate just so many temples and other things around to do, but the other places had enough time for them. Our Cambodian guide Ith Channy was very friendly, knowledgeable and you could tell he really enjoyed his job, with pretty much all his recommendations being spot on. Only recommendation that wasn't good was going to the dancing girls buffet, which was aimed at more the Chinese tourists and the food was very poor with so many people being packed into such a large room, and seating set out in such a way you had to get up and walk about to get any decent view of the stage. Other than that, and our boat trip in Krong Preah being called off due to the weather, everything else was excellent including the choices of restaurants, can't recall any bad meals. Vietnam was a somewhat different story. The country and the sights where for the most part, amazing! Only place I would totally miss out in the future would be Nha Trang which while on paper, sounded good promising tropical snorkelling and amazing beaches, but in reality the place has been pretty much destroyed by over tourism, with 'concrete beaches', polluted water where you can only see dead/bleached coral, the very odd small fish and lots of rubbish, with hardly any visibility with the water being so foggy, mainly due to the pollution and we all agreed it was by far the most polluted water any of us had ever snorked or dived in, many not even swam, myself included.i Our guide, Baow, clearly didn't enjoy his job and was just pretty much doing the bate minimum for the most part. Many of the activities, but mainly restaurants he recommended where pretty bad and by the end most of us went off on our own finding restaurants than sticking with the group. There was nothing pertically bad that Baow did, he got all our hotels, travel and laundry sorted well, he just didn't do anything much extra. He did however help when a jet ski hirer tried to rip me off, claiming I had broken a bit of the jet ski, when it was already broken before hand which I really did apriciate. Overall the Vietnam trip was still very good, just need less or no time in Nha Trang, and more time in Hue, which I could have easily used another two days plus in, and I think everyone else would have wanted at least one more day in too. Could have also used more time in Ho Chi Mhin city too and would have liked to go into a more remote part of the Mekong Delta, was more a lodge we stayed at than a home stay but was still good, was just expecting and would have preffeted a more remote village experience.

The intrepid tour was fantastic. We had a great bunch of people who were really fun the travel with and we had a really passionate tour guide called Mr Channy who loved is country and really knew how to show the best way to enjoy it.

This tour was exceptional, and one more time, (this was my 3rd Intrepid trip) I find myself rewarded and grateful to those who created this company. All my life I have been a solo traveler for many reasons, and I will admit I have been a bit of a snob about it. I couldn't imagine that something organised could substitute for exploring the world alone. I "succumbed" when on my way to Egypt at a time that was quite fraught and unsafe, and group travel really a requirement. I was lucky enough to stumble across an Intrepid trip, and to my surprise what I found was that I see more, miss less, lose none of the sense of independence, waste less time, and it actually costs far less than traveling alone, plus there are always informed local people around to share knowledge and information. Plus someone else takes the hassle out of scheduling, buying the tickets and finding convenient and quality accommodation. All the guides are local, and being earthy adventure trips all the other travellers are like-minded, easy going and a lot of fun. This particular trip to Cambodia and Vietnam was one of my richest and best travel experiences to date.

I did the indochina tour 26 days. I recommend you do bangkok , cambodia then vietnam. There is another tour that does it the other way around. Cambodia is very 3rd world, accommodation is not great during this stretch of the trip. It was not as cheap as i thought it would be since they use American currency . When bartering you will need to take that into consideration when considering if its any cheaper to purchase goods. The temples were great but I feel too much time was spend touring Cambodia. They would have been better off doing more of Thailand and maybe 4 days in Cambodia to cover the temples. The optional buffet dinner was not worth the money. They did not replenish the food .by the time we got there there was hardly anything left. If your group decides to go make sure you get there at 5-6pm . we spend a lot of time traveling. The Vietnam tour got it right but traveling overnight on trains so we had more time at our destination. Overnight trains were good . Not always clean but ok. Vietnam and our guide were amazing . The accommodation was much better. We did almost all the optional activities. Hight light were hoi an and Halong bay. Loved the second half of the trip . Guide was Trung he did a great job very group orientated.

An incredibly well conducted tour starting from Thailand finishing in the north of Vietnam. The trip guides were very knowledgeable and helpful with a strong passion for showing us the best of their country. With this tour we were able to see most of what Cambodia and Vietnam had to offer and if the chance presented itself to do something different from that on the itinerary, the trip guides were able to make it happen. There are plenty of different forms of travelling such as local buses and sleeper trains but they all added to the experience and were even a highlight of the tour. Overall I would recommend this tour to everyone as it is a great chance to experience some amazing countries!
