Back in 1989, two guys from Melbourne, Australia by the names of Darrell and Manch set off on an adventure to the other side of the world. They travelled to Africa and without air conditioning on their modified truck, they filled it with supplies, some beer, a bunch of aviator sunglasses, and...

My Daintree tour was outstanding. Our guide, Justin Clarke, was exceptional and I felt very well taken care of. I felt very comfortable at all times - not only on the daily tours but also while we were traveling in the van. The restaurants he chose were excellent. The crocodile spotting trips were both successful and the guides on these trips were very good. The walk in the Daintree Forest will not soon be forgotten, Our visit with the local, Link, and his stories and explanations were very interesting and most informative. It was a totally enjoyable and memorable experience.

TourRadar Queensland Daintree Explorer Feedback Chris Field did an excellent job at tour guide and driver. He was professional, very knowledgeable and had a great, friendly personality. He made this trip as enjoyable as it was. The accommodations at Paradise Links Resort were very nice. My room was spacious and well appointed. The kitchen even gave me the opportunity to fix a few meals. Day one as just as the itinerary stated. Plenty of time at the town of Kuranda to explore and get lunch. The evening river boat cruise with Lady Douglas River Cruises was fun and informative. The Captain gave a great overview of the area and what wildlife inhabited the river. He worked hard to find a crocodile for everyone to photograph. Day two. Beechwoods had a wide variety of selections for breakfast. This very typical local place was perfect. The coffee and my breakfast selection were delicious. Great choice. The morning spent with Neil Hewett at the Cooper Creek Wilderness Daintree Rainforest was one of the best forest walks I have done. Mr. Hewett’s knowledge is without bounds. Well worth the “walk in the woods.” Lunch at “On The Turps Restaurant” was spot on. My fish was perfectly cooked and it wasn’t too large a portion for a mid-day meal. The river cruise with Bruce Belcher’s Daintree River Cruises capped off the day. The Captain took us all over the river, giving a narrative of the history of the region and pointing out local wildlife. Day three: Chris was able to work with the Calypso Reef Cruises and a number of us were able to book snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef. A spectacular day! Day four: Chris led the tour through Mossman Gorge and gave a great explanation of all the flora, fauna and wildlife in the area. Without his guidance this would have been just another walk in a forest. The Kuya Kuya beach experience with Linc Walker of Kuku Yalanji Cultural Habitat Tours was an educational experience not to be missed. Linc Walker’s knowledge and willingness to share it was the highlight of the day. The Aboriginal painting class at Janbal Gallery was fun and I learned a few things about the First Nations people. Day five: An exceptional breakfast at St. Crispins Café thanks to Chris. The breakfast choices, presentation and quality were equal to a five-star restaurant. As Chris drove us back to Cairns, he took the time to stop off at the Palm Cove Jetty for some last-minute pictures and at the Cairns Botanical Gardens for a quick guided walk-through. Chris was able to point our two different cassowaries, two Body’s Forest Dragons and numerous crocodiles. His demeanor, local knowledge and love of the country and tour guiding made this tour the highlight of my travels this year. Michael S. Reed Captain, U.S. Navy, ret.

Unfortunately the weather was not favourable for our trip. We missed out on the first experience of Kuranda via skyrail & train which was quite disappointing & there was no alternative. Overall the rest of the activities were informative, fun & enjoyable despite being soaked to the bone from head to toe at Mossman Gorge. We felt the tour was quite rushed for a holiday. Being on a strict timetable was annoying. Honestly thought we were on a school camp except for the great accommodation, really nice food & very nice travelling companions! The highlight for us was meeting a local First Nation's family who gave an awesome account of their history, weapons, artifacts, food sources & traditional ways. Our guide always seemed to be in a rush. One example was when we had our farewell dinner & were told 3 minutes prior that we were leaving at 8:30pm. All of us were wondering why as this had not been mentioned earlier so there was a scramble to finish drinks etc. We were also scolded if we were a minute or 2 late back to the bus, I realised later the bus clock was 5 minutes fast! It has left a sour taste in our mouths & doubt that we would travel with Intrepid Tours again.

Fantastic tour. A great, short trip to see the Daintree region. Includes all the key experiences and nice small group size.
