- MBMukund· October 14th, 2024We enjoyed seeing various animals including the big five. The guides knew where to go to find rare predators. We selected this tour over a private safari, thinking that interacting with other people will be interesting But the tour company did not have anyone else with the same 12 day tour itinerary. So they added people with short excursions. This led to us spending long hours in the van while the driver dropped and pick up these travelers. For example, the trip from Masai Mara to lake Nakuru took us ten hours vs standard 5 to 6 hours. Lake Nakuru lodge was beautiful, but we reached there after dark and couldn't enjoy anything. There was minimal communication from the tour company (Africa Venture Safaris). Drivers who were also tour guides, did not explain much as we travelled to different parks. except pointing to the animals. We really enjoyed the Parks and game drives, and saw all kinds of animals in their natural habitat. As a word of caution, next time I would go with a private tour or go in a group of six to avoid wasted time and long rides on extremely bumpy roads.Show moreTrip date: September 2024
- PWPauline· September 29th, 2024This was actually a terrific adventure overall. We got to see lots of wildlife and wonderful scenery. The tour organization and the lodges in Kenia were excellent. The driver/guide was very knowledgeable, but was making a lot of personal calls. The Tanzanian subcontracting agency provided a safari vehicle that was quite a wreck. The driver was good, but his English lacking. The agency also added two additional passengers who had accommodations different from our core group, which the driver had a hard time finding. And the roads in Tanzania are worse than in Kenia.Show moreTrip date: September 2024
- PCPeter· September 24th, 2024Some great experiences but there were a number of failings - supposed to be a maximum of 6 visitors in a group and was mostly 7 or even 8 persons- so vehicles were cramped and gear bags stored in the aisles amongst us. Poor. I funded a "luxury tour" - moments of luxury, a lot of not. I sought information ahead of time as to the best currencies to carry, Specifically useless responses - USD, British pounds or euros are best. We did not carry any of these which was a pity and caused some problems. The distances and hours travelling from venue to venue was not advised at all - one day 12 hours commuting over dusty shaky roads- exhausting and unprepared for it. Some "all day game drives" were 3-4 hours at best. The drivers drove but did little informing - answered questions put to them but not really guiding. We waited 3 hours to be collected one morning - ready at 0640 as instructed- arrived 0940hrs. Some wonderful animal viewing moments. Organisation average. At least 3 layers of commissions evident. I was unable to send the tour details to my wife - only on the App for me. Asked how to do this- never received a reply. Some superb overnight lodge stays. Food overall poor. Same buffet everywhere nightly, lunches provided ordinary.Show moreAfrica Venture Safaris commented on this reviewThank you very much Peter for your time in submitting these review. - DDaniel· October 31st, 2023TourRadar exceeded my expectations as a safari company! From the moment I booked my adventure, their service was exceptional. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, providing valuable insights and guidance on choosing the perfect safari experience. The safari itself was a breathtaking journey through the heart of Africa. The tour guides were not only experts in wildlife and conservation but also engaging storytellers who shared their passion for the land and its inhabitants. The accommodations were comfortable and well-located, allowing us to immerse ourselves in the natural beauty of the surroundings. What truly sets TourRadar apart is their commitment to sustainable tourism and their support for local communities. I felt good knowing that my safari experience was also contributing to the conservation of the beautiful landscapes and the well-being of the people who call this place home. I can't recommend TourRadar enough for anyone seeking an unforgettable and responsible safari adventure. They combine exceptional service, expert guidance, and a deep commitment to the environment, making for an incredible and meaningful journey. I look forward to booking with them again in the future!Show moreTrip date: October 2023

- NMNorbert· October 30th, 2023"12 Days Best of Kenya and Tanzania Luxury Lodge Safari" (02.10.2023 - 13.10.2023) Rating: • By far the worst safari I have experienced so far. • Poor organization and even worse execution. • Unmaintained vehicles, some of which are not suitable for off-road use. • Disastrous guide/driver in Kenya with little local knowledge etc. • If "luxury" is defined as "exceptional, greatly exceeding the usual" the benchmark was neither a European (4 S, 4 L and 5 star accommodations) nor an African standard (RETOSA), but rather a traditional Masai standard. • Contractual agreements and statements were violated, which would lead to claims for damages in Europe. • Basic problems are lack of marketing knowledge and a concept which is applicable for budget travel, but not for high-priced travel. • No reference for TourRadar. Personal background and selection criteria for this safari: Extensive safari experience - including several safaris in East Africa - always in the upper-middle class segment (Sopa/Serena). Since I wanted to revisit some destinations and appreciate small group tours, this time I could not use agencies and operators with whom I have had good experiences. My selection criteria were: 1. Destinations => Result: were met as promised 2. Vehicle => promise: "very high standard" was by no means kept 3. Lodges, camps, hotels => promise "Luxury" was kept only in maximum 3 of 8 accommodations. Individual points: I. Agency and concept The agency (East Africa Safari Bookers) and operator (Africa Venture Safaris) seemed to be connected. This gave additional security. The communication until the start of the tour was good. When the tour started, it turned out that it was not one tour, but that numerous agencies had assigned tours of different lengths to sub- and sub-subcontractors. This not only caused constantly changing groups, but also led to constant loss of time. Particularly critical was the fact that the majority of the group participants had booked budget safaris and only a few participants had booked the luxury safari at a price several times higher. This resulted in a clear conflict of objectives: The luxury traveler wants "value for money", the budget tourist knows "you get what you pay". Working with a multi-level subcontractor system means that cost efficiency becomes the top priority at all levels, to the detriment of customer orientation. As measures, for example, the accommodations of both groups were spatially adjusted and the promised maximum number of persons per vehicle was exceeded several times (04.10 = 8 and 05.10. = 9 guests in the car) in order to achieve maximum utilization. Participants of the "Luxury Tour" were subsequently accommodated in accommodations that were mostly below the agreed standard. Of the original 7 accommodations (1st offer), only 3 were kept with me, but 10 changes were made. After refusing to accept tour changes and subsequently getting a driver with a Land Cruiser, the safari went much more positively. Conclusion: If you can do budget, you can't do luxury. II. Vehicles All vehicles were decrepit, poorly maintained and had technical problems in the course of the tour. The vehicle in Kenya was dirty and was only superficially cleaned upon request. It was not suitable for off-road use. The Land Cruiser in Tanzania was cleaned daily, but had a crack in the windshield and technical problems from the beginning. III. Guide/Driver The "safari driver" in Kenya drove like a cab driver in Nairobi. He is unsuitable for a safari because he 1. has only limited knowledge of the location and gets lost more often; 2. he recognized animals when they were shown to him or at least 20 vehicles were already somewhere (crowd driver!); 3. and not knowing what safari guests expect (How do I position the car so that photos can be taken etc.). The guide/driver in Tanzania was very good, very knowledgeable and clearly customer focused. Just as a good professional guide should be. IV. Border crossing The Kenya / Tanzania border crossing was unprofessionally planned. V. Accommodation The accommodations were of distinctly different quality. Embalakai Authentic Camp and Kilima Safari Camp deserve to be called "luxury". Shuhudia Adventure Camp is more suitable for backpackers and the hotels in Arusha (Charity Hotel and Green Mountain Hotel) were a disaster. On average, the accommodations were not up to the standard paid for. The agency has received my comprehensive report with several photos.Show moreAfrica Venture Safaris commented on this reviewHey Norbert, Thank you very much for your timer in submitting your review.
