- BIBill· July 4th, 2024Hotels were more 2-3 star rather than 4. We were given unacceptable rooms with poor standard facilities. Food was not very good. Entry to all places were extra even World Heritage Sites which were advertised as included! Allow 200 euros extra for this. Our second guide (Angelo) was excellent and Peno the driver was too. Noise from the rattling loose tv on board made it impossible to hear the guide. It was a mad rush every morning by some for the front seats which they hogged. Patrick· June 19th, 2024There was great confusion among my tour friends because this tour in reality is very different from how it is described. The tour company offers two different tours (round-trips starting at Palermo and Catania). In fact, wherever you start, you join in to the tour from the other starting point en route. So at Palermo our new group of 16 joined a 24 person group that started at Catania, and when we reached Catania, they left and were replaced by a new 20+ person group. So this is almost always (according to the guide) a 40 person, full-bus tour. Additionally, there are Spanish language tours by the same company using the same routes. This means the schedule and activities are designed for two, 40-person, full-bus tours to operate simultaneously (again, I checked this with the tour guide, who confirmed it). The guide and driver were very good. Some of the included dinners were poor in quality. We had one unannounced hotel change, and the hotels in general were average. Some of the days were very taxing physically, especially the day in Syracusa, with 15000+ steps. We met some lovely guests and the accom was great too. Early on the tour the meals were really bad, worst in a lifetime for me and I aint fussy. I wish I had just walked away and found better instead of enduring so as to not offend. Very disappointing as we were looking forward to this trip. There were 2 groups one Spanish and one English totaling over 60 people. It was a constant competition on who arrived at venues first.
