Trip date: November 2024 - JNJamie· November 26th, 2024I recently had the pleasure of joining a 3-day Isle of Skye guided tour with MacBackPackers, and it was among the best experiences I've had. Our driver and guide, Neil, was absolutely fantastic. He was interesting, funny, and engaging, with a great variety of music that ranged from traditional folk to modern Scottish bands, perfectly complementing his stories. Neil’s storytelling style, which focused on myths, legends, and Scottish folklore, was a highlight for me as it’s what I find most fascinating about the Highlands. This wasn’t my first guided tour of the Scottish Highlands, but it was definitely my favorite. I particularly enjoyed the hiking and activities off the bus, which allowed us to better take in and appreciate what we were seeing. The tour’s structure fostered a sense of camaraderie among the group, making it much more than just a series of photo opportunities. I have come away from the trip with incredible new friends. The tour was very reasonably priced for the quality of the experience, and I couldn’t find a single flaw. Our bus driver, Neil, has an incredible sense of humour and friendliness, full of stories about the history and folklore of Scotland as he drove us through the beautiful Highlands. - IKIna· November 20th, 2024The tour was very well organised and Branka always tried to adapt everything so that we didn't run into bad weather. During the time we were on the bus, Branka told us many stories and we learnt a lot about Scottish history and the different stories behind certain places. We always had enough time at the places to look at them in peace and take photos. The hostel was also good and we were lucky to have it to ourselves. One evening we all went to the pub together, but you could also cook in the hostel if you wanted to. It was fun, laidback and social while still being incredibly informative and well-structured. Our guide, Branka, was an absolute gem -- a wonderful personality who really knew her stuff. I'm more of an introvert and was worried that a younger-skewing tour like this would be a bit rowdy and overwhelming, however that wasn't the case at all.
