- Graeme· September 23rd, 2024Very disappointed to be included in a Chinese tour with only Chinese food offered with no choice of menu .Some meals were awful ! The entire tour was a rush , with early starts ,late finishes leaving no time to enjoy stops. We traveled for an hour from our hotel to have breakfast at a truck stop! In Revelstoke were separated from the other travellers to be seated nearly in the front doorway so we could have western Chinese food. The tour guide was very domineering and within half an hour of starting the tour collected the service fee ,then later asked for a tip. People who did not have the meal package were left to find their own way to a restaurant , even in the rain ! Nothing was ever done to make the group feel as one Other than the accomodation, which was excellent, we could not recommend this tour to anyoneShow moreCalgary Tours commented on this reviewWe are delighted to have you join our tour. - Paul· June 24th, 2024This is a whistle stop tour of the Rockies covering many must see sights and has no choice but to contain lots of short stops. I'd call this a Rockies sampler tour. It actually does this pretty well. Hotels were all good and the buses comfortable enough. The long train ride back to Vancouver is slow, presumably for sightseeing purposes but this is a bit redundant as you'll have seen so many wonderful sights by then anyway. We had 2 guides, both Chinese I think, who were nice enough even if accents made some communications hard to understand. It wasn't a big problem though. The biggest communication problem we had was that our tour was split into 2 bits (3 with the train) without our knowledge. The first guide was not party to what happened to us after he'd finished with us and so we had to trust the itinerary. Oh, and the other problem we had (which got resolved) was on the first night. We weren't on the meal plan (no regrets as we prefer the choice) and when we thought we were heading to the first hotel at about 630/7 pm, we were in fact stopping for their booked meal "before" checking in, meaning we had 1 hour to find something to eat and get back to the bus. We eventually persuaded the guide to allow us to take our time and walk back to hotel when done with our bags having been put in our rooms for us. All sorted but a bit stressful at the time. Final tip - do take the activity package as otherwise it'll slow down proceedings if you try to buy your own tickets for Gondola, Snowcoach etc. Not a perfect trip but glad we did it in the middle of our 3 week Vancouver visit. Finally, the booking process was slightly messy as queries had to go through Tourradar and we started off with a price increase due to a website fault.Show moreCalgary Tours commented on this reviewWe're grateful for the opportunity to show you the beauty of the Rocky Mountains.
