- NNava· August 26th, 2024We booked a 6-day safari. It is not possible to pay by a bank transfer as this company does not accept it. You can either pay by cash or by a credit card. Initially, Fred (the owner) asked for 5% extra for paying with a credit card, then reduced it to 3.5%. He said that the 5% was a typo, but it actually showed in two different places at two different times. The hotels/camps were a mixed bag. Two were very good, two were so-so, and one was just terrible (bad food, not enough food, not enough electricity to charge phones and cameras while only 2 tents were occupied, lunch included potatoes full of ants, etc.) The driver Mecky was a freelancer (seems like the company doesn't have enough business to have their own drivers). He knew the parks very well and also was pretty good at spotting wildlife. However, he didn't like to start the day early. When we discussed when to leave the hotel for Ngorongoro Crater the next morning, he wanted to leave the hotel at 7:30 am. When we didn't like it, he got very upset and angry, and even raised his voice, saying it was his program, he knew what was best, and that he had to have time to eat a good breakfast. We ended up leaving the hotel at 6:30 am, after breakfast, and it took two hours to get to the bottom of the crater (which was already late to see lions). Many cars took breakfast boxes and left the hotel at 5:30 am. Almost every evening there was an argument about the starting time the next day. Additionally, the driver pressured us constantly about giving him a good tip, saying how great he was and why he deserved it. He really made us uncomfortable. Overall we did not have a good experience with the driver although we did manage to see much wildlife. About a couple of weeks before trip, we noticed that the exclusions listed a tip for the driver of 50 to 70 USD per day. This is an unusually high amount and when we pointed it out, Fred said that we should pay whatever we feel would be right. It turned out that the driver was expecting 50 to 70 USD per day and at the end of the trip was very angry when he did not get that amount. We felt very intimidated. The car seemed old and not as nice as other cars we saw. The antenna for the radio communication is at the front of the car so many times it got in the view of the camera. It's better to have a car where the antenna is in the back of the car. There was more that we didn't really like with the logistics and the driver, but enough is enough. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this company, both for its logistics and the driver.Show more
