R· May 9th, 2024This was a fantastic custom road/plane trip covering Hanoi-Halong Bay-Da Nang-Hoi An-Hue-Ho Chi Minh City. We even had time to take a guided night motorcycle food tour of Hanoi. This was a great introduction to Vietnamese cuisine. The smells and flavors were irresistible. The historical sights were breathtaking with Hoi An and Hue in particular. Da Nang beaches were unspoiled. Hanoi and Saigon were very crowded but with the right perspective, one can enjoy the sights, sounds and smells. The guides in each city met us and escorted us through the cities. They showed us the essential sites as well as some things off the beaten path. The food, when provided, was varied and tasty. We had a variety of experiences from the water puppet show in Hanoi, to the pottery district in Hoi An to visiting the markets. The guides also had great recommendations on restaurants. Cathy chose great hotels that were centrally located but wonderful to live in so we enjoyed our free time at the hotels and walking in the surrounding area.
